Arrived promptly and after a charge on the mains to get it started it was out and on duty. It replaced a smaller unit so I did not have get a fence and stake. It has worked for the last 48hours and the flash and tick from the fence showed that it worked on a drizzly October day and stored enough for overnight. I still expect to top it up in the winter. So top marks for ease of set up and functioning as designed.The smaller unit was replaced as the seagulls and heron treated it with disdain, it really did not bother them. This morning I watched on CCTV as the heron received several jolts as it went through the fence, you could see it flinch, but it still got to the pond. I will be extending the wire of the fence but the learning is that there is not sufficient power to stop or deter the bird, only to teach it some respect. It did keep its distance from the wire as it took off when I appeared.So a good bit of kit but for some purposes it serves only as a warning not a solution. That is were the final star was lost as the description did include protection against herons, which it isn’t.UpdateSix months later and over the winter I only had to recharge it from the mains three times so that exceeded expectations.I have added a star as after its initial casual approach the heron has only been back a couple of times and then it kept a distance from the fence. It flies over most weeks, being chased by the gulls, but does not stop. So it appears that the unit is now earning its keep as intended.

This is the third one I have bought now as I am so pleased with the other two. I use them for multiple paddocks for horses. It’s so easy to use, very reliable and a very good price.I ordered late afternoon free delivery and it arrived in less than 24 hours. Very impressed.

Absolutely brilliant piece of equipment! Saves so much time recharging car batteries.I gave this a charge using electric before using it and haven’t had to charge it all winter. So it has gone Dec, Jan & Feb on solar. I can personally confirm it gives a good shock too! Highly recommended and easy to set up and use

A well priced item, easy to set up apart from the stand which has no instructions. The flashing light that shows when the unit is on is tiny and very hard to see in most lights.Saying that, the item works well and is far better value than many other solar energisers so if you want a deterrent that works without spending too much this could be for you.

Purchased as an additional unit to back up my main fixed solar/energiser/leisure battery set up to enable me to electrify short runs away from the main fence. Unit has been in place for around a week now and is kicking out a really decent pulse but is over a short run and we have had a decent amount of sun to keep it charged. I have been pouring waste water at the base of the earth rod too as its very dry so that probably helps too.

Bought this to electrify 50m of netted electric fencing. Initially I was concerned it may struggle with the multiple strands of electric wire in the net but not a problem at all, it’s also in a shaded spot but that also hasn’t been an issue. Super easy to set up, does exactly what it’s supposed to, the solar charges it sufficiently and the price in comparison to similar products is wonderful, very pleased with my purchase and cannot fault it.
