Secret Garden: 20 Postcards

This is the second book of these cards that I've bought. I used the first during lockdown and posted one every week to my granddaughter with a little message on it. They're so lovely, quality,thick card and beautiful designs. You get all the pleasure of colouring them and then spread some happiness by sending them to friends. You could actually use them instead of a birthday card. Well worth the money as they're quite intricate and can't be rushed so this one little book lasts a while.

What can I say about this little book of Postcards - absolutely stunning! I gave it to my daughter (who's in her 20s) for Christmas and by Boxing Day she'd half of them completed! It was amazing to see a black and white picture come to life. The great thing about these postcard is that they can be sent to your friends and family or displayed in a frame (like my daughter has done). Bought this little book along with Staedtler triplus fineliner pens which were perfect for the job. The only disappointing thing is that my daughter has not been able to find any more booklets like it. If there were more produced I think she'd be the first to buy them!

This book of postcards has challenged me as some of the designs are very intricate, I have really enjoyed colouring these postcards, and the people I have sent them too have loved them. Very relaxing to colour in leaves, flowers, plants, and gardens, this book will keep you busy, and is great to experiment with bright colours, you will need very fine felt tip pens for these designs, would recommend stabilo or staedler.

I ordered this as I'd read that colouring in was good for anxiety/stress relief and was surprised to find so many colouring in books to choose from on Amazon - it was difficult to choose! This one is great, very detailed and beautifully designed. In some cases, the design is so detailed that it makes colouring it in a little tricky so using fine tipped pens is an absolute must - I ordered a pack of 20 Staedtler Triplus Fineliners (0.3mm) which were great. I highly recommend colouring in for stress/anxiety relief and this set of postcards are a perfect way to give it a go. It can be quite addictive!

Bought as a present after a bit of research. Daughter asked for adult colouring book but bought her these instead and she adores them. Detailed drawings on quality card so no bleeding through of colour, and then you can send them as a postcard afterwards if you can bear to part with them! May treat myself to some as quite fancy them...I still like a bit of colouring!

Perfect size for a quick fix, I love Secret Garden book but it takes me a long time to colour a page in as I spend ages blending and shading, it's taken me weeks to colour pages in the past so I really like how you can a Johanna design in one sitting with the postcards. They lay totally flat when opened up which makes colouring them easier, because some are zoomed out to fit the smaller estate there's some really intricate details which may not be great for those with bad eye sight or fine motor issues. Out of the 20 designs most of my faves are there so I'm happy.

I already have the full sized book so was looking for postcards I could colour in whilst on holiday. Whilst these are nice cards, the pictures are very small, which means you need to use fine pens, or very sharp pencils. I used Staedtler 0.3mm tip pens and to my horror they bled on the paper which didn't impress me much ! I then used my Faber Castell Artist Pitt Brush Pens and these work well but some of the detail on the pictures is too small even for these pens to colour and they do have quite a fine point. Some of the pictures in my opinion could have been made bigger to accommodate the space, which would have made colouring easier. These are expensive cards, the same cost as the full sized version so I suggest you buy the book instead.

If you are a grown up that like colouring with (or without your children!) I cannot recommend these postcards more highly!! They are absolutely beautiful and will give you hours of meditative colouring time!! Colouring is a great way to relax the mind in the busy world we all live in (I also think it helps to lower the blood pressure!).
