Great book for the basics
A classic "for dummies book". Only rated 4 stars because it's an older edition, so is missing some contemporanous updates. Covers all the basics though

Great book as it is described
Good for starting knowing the basics of corporate finance . The first chapters are a lityle bit boring of you know accounting as it includes the basic of financial statement and P&L although I believe its really useful for those who have just started in the financial sector. I totally recommend it .

Who knew....?
Although I have worked for a handful of the world's largest corporations their core financial structure has always been a mystery to me. In my techie roles in those concerns I got the occasional glimpse of the financial arrangements that made the wheels turn, but usually only saw simpler processes and heard a smattering of jargon used in the inner financial workings. That's why I thought this book might be a good one to review. I can't say that I persisted with it very diligently, the introductory sections were fine, but after that I think the book assumes that you already have a grounding in smaller-scale finance and I found myself having read the same paragraph lots of times but not taking meaning from it until I had been on-line to decode some of the terms used. After a while that got old and since I was only reading for interest, not to meet a specific need, I have to admit I baled out. Who knew it'd get this complex! I'm not sure that a book which purports to be "for dummies" should start from the assumption of pre-knowledge of the lower echelons of a subject, I think it probably shouldn't? Anyway, unless you already have a grounding in company accounting or finance or have a very strong motivation to get your head around this (seemingly gigantic) subject, this may not be the book for you. The book is very well written and logically structured and has copious examples. It's just that pre-knowledge assumption (not unique to this book in the "for dummies" series) that, in my judgement let's it down. If you already have accounting or finance knowledge and want to advance your knowledge in this sphere, go ahead and buy - I think you'll get a lot from this.

All you need to know
Very useful - I am doing an MBA and whatever my accounting and finance lecturer was teaching, I would just go to this book for an easier explanation.

The other sections I think did both a good job of going through the maths and giving some ...
I think it was mostly helpful. There were a few places where I felt the text was confusing, or there was a mistake leading to an illogical statement. I really struggled to find the section on cash flows etc something that I could get my teeth into on a first read through, possibly because I'm just less familiar. The other sections I think did both a good job of going through the maths and giving some basic feel for the subject - though this is not going to tell you how to run a business, it's to understand concepts, which is as I expected.
