When the button is on (one click), they do not come on in sunlight, but with low level light indoors or at night outside, they flicker like a flame with a lovely golden glow.It was really pretty overcast with just moments of the sun peaking out of the clouds when I set these outside. They were out there for maybe 4 hours. They charged up fine.The set of six will provide a cozy atmosphere at home or while camping in the wilderness!

The media could not be loaded.  ***Update -- Bottom line: if you have a south-facing window with lots of direct sunlight for at least four hours a day, these should work great. Otherwise, limited winter sunlight and partial shading will not be enough for them to work.After a couple of cloudy days, the candles stopped illuminating completely. I had high hopes when the sun came out the next day but they still didn't turn on. Even though the window they're in is south-facing, it has a lot of wood panel trimming, so I thought maybe the shadows from those were interfering. Next day was sunny again so I put all 12 candles on a big piece of carboard and moved them around all day to follow the sunlight. I would estimate they received a total of about 2-3 hours of direct sunlight overall. Come evening, candles turned on but at about half of their original strength, and were out within about two hours. We also have a lot of trees in front of our house, and even though they don't have any leaves this time of year I think that may be part of the issue.***Original Post: After buying new Christmas string lights three years in a row and having half of them dead by each season's end, I wanted to find a more eco-friendly (and hopefully longer lasting) solution. At first I looked for better string lights, but landed on these instead. I was originally hoping they could go IN our tree, and that would definitely work for someone with a normal sized tree, but we've had the same mini 2-feet-tall fake tree for more than 20 years and these wouldn't leave much room for ornaments on those itty branches.I bought two sets of six lights and set them up in a south-facing bay window where they sit all day, and then I switch them on around sunset. It's only been a few days but they're working great so far. The first day was very sunny, and the second it was cloudy, and there was no discernible difference in light output between the two days. Video is from the second day. Longest I've had them on is four hours, then we turn them off before going to bed, and lights are still going strong at that time. I haven't tried leaving them on and letting the sensor kick in to turn them on, mostly because I can't imagine that's good for battery life.Only issues are: a) they're definitely cheap, lightweight plastic (some even have little wispy strands of plastic hanging off), and b) the spring for the on/off switch on one of the lights isn't seated as well as it should be, and it can take several tries to get the switch to catch.So we're satisfied overall, although my daughter would be more excited if they were multi-colored like string lights, and honestly I can't argue with that.

Poor quality only worked for a week had to keep turning them on at night . But they quit working that way also after about 2 weeks. I wasted to much time trying to mess with them and my 30 day return period was up . What a let down. Do not recommend buying unless ya don't care if they work or not.

These are indeed more durable than the previous model, which I’ve also owned. The longevity is pretty decent, probably the second best of my small solar lights.

The media could not be loaded.  When I first ordered these, I wasn't really sure what was going to come. But as I unpacked them, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of these solar tea light candles. They're larger than I thought they would be and they are so awesome, when they light up in the evening. I have them in my living room window and they are gorgeous at night. These are really cool, cool tea light candles. I'd like to buy some more and have them around a deck by the hot tub and/or inside my home. I think they are just absolutely the coolest solar candles.

At first, I really liked these. So much so that I ordered a second set. But I noticed that the first set started to lose the ability to hold a charge. I conducted side-by-side testing by putting both sets outside in the direct sunlight all day, then brought them inside and watched for them to turn on after sunset. The new set came on and glowed brightly, but the original set is barely coming on at all. I'm watching the new set to see if they lose the ability to hold a charge as well. I'm disappointed as I was planning to use these for centerpieces at a New Year's Eve party. I will monitor the second set and update the review if they begin to fail.

Very water resistant, have been through several storms outside and still perform great.The light is golden in color, very pretty for an outside setting. Love them!

I do not know if I have a really bad batch. But it is not bright at all it charge all day on pute sun and still die in less than 4-5 min.

Can't recommend this product as after over 1 week of initial use, most if not all 6 candles only lit up for 1-2 hours with decent brightness, the rest of time they became either very dim for less than 30 minutes or not working at all. This was after charging the candles for more than 10 hours under very strong tropical sun over 2-3 days.
