Elizabeth Mott Black Volumizing Mascara, 8ml

I discovered this mascara 10 years ago in NYC. It’s amazing. No smudging, no flaking. I used to import this from USA and give to friends to try and they loved it. It won’t budge during exercise (including an ultra marathon!). Great product, great value.

Excellent. No clumpiness

Not bad coverage after a number of coats BUT after using this only a number of times, this is how it coated the brush after lying flat in my cupboard for the last week, making it totally unusable and wasting most of the product. Very disappointing. I'll not buy again.

It is a smooth application and does not clog but it does smudge after a few hours of wearing it

Before finding this mascara, I always bought Bourjois Clubbing mascara, as it never smudged or flaked. Unfortunately, I can't get this in the UK anymore. This Elizabeth Mott mascara is every bit as good, and believe me, I've tried lots to get the same results as Bourjois.

Doesn't smudge but certainly not volumising sadly. Very dry so hard to build layers

This mascara is perfect for work. It makes my lashes look so long with just one coat but it's not clumpy at all so it doesn't look like i'm wearing tons of mascara. The effect reminds me a lot of the Too Faced better than sex, BUT this mascara doesn't smudge under my eyes like the TF does every. single. time. Will definitely be repurchasing when I run out!

Update on May 23 2026: I have recently ordered and received 2 more orders of the 3-pack travel size, The Big Trio, mascara. I had recently downgraded my original review from some years ago, to 2 stars, as I had received several orders that were unusable, all dried up. However, I decided to try again, as I cannot find any other mascara that I like, and this time I made extra sure and double-checked that I ordered from the Elizabeth Mott store on Amazon!! I have now got 2 orders this way, and all 6 mascara tubes are fine, not dried up, and the mascara works as well as I remember from earlier, when I gave my first good review! I am very pleasantly surprised, and happy, as this is the mascara I want and remember from earlier - works very well, looks good and very easy to remove with plain water, and does not smudge for the whole day. So, I will keep on ordering and using The Big Trio (I think it is the same as the one called "It's So Big", i.e. the original version which is better than the later versions they have come out with) from the Elizabeth Mott store, as long as the quality is kept up to this level! So I am again upgrading to 5 stars, especially since the price has come down, but if the quality changes I will again update my review and keep you posted. - End of UpdateI was looking for a CRUELTY FREE, good mascara, read the reviews and decided to try this one. I was not disappointed! It is very good, easy to apply, has absolutely no clumps but applies to each eye lash in a very attractive manner while making the lashes look really long, and stays in place a long time without smearing, even over night, and has not caused ANY irritation! I am especially glad, since I have recently started reacting to some cosmetics and have had to return other brands of mascara that I reacted to - absolutely no reaction with this one. Last but not least, I am SO GLAD this is cruelty free and bears the PETA logo, as I will absolutely not buy anything that is not cruelty-free - why should innocent animals suffer for my vanity? This is the best mascara I have ever used, and I will be buying more soon to make sure I do not run out!Edited review on Jan 6, 2026: Unfortunately I have to revise my rating and review: I have been using this mascara for several years now, it has been my go-to. However, during the last year or more, I have noticed a definite decline in product quality, issues with the containers (several of the large ones stopped working long before the mascara was used up - the part that scrapes off excess mascara from the brush came lose. I therefore started buying only the small travel size.)My second last order of the travel Trio had one container that was unusable - the brush could not be pulled out, and there was a "plasticky" looking grey goop that was eventually forced out - utterly unusable. I decided this was a fluke / glitch, and decided to give it another chance. Ordered another travel Trio pack which came today, tested all 3 tubes right away, and this time 2 out of the 3 are unusable!! Same thing, brush can only with difficulty be pulled out, and there is dried up goop emerging, again completely unusable.I am downgrading it to 2 stars instead of 1, since when the container works it is a good mascara.I am really sorry and disappointed. I am returning this, and will not order any more. If Elizabeth Mott improves their manufacturing so that the mascara comes in containers that work, I would be very happy, but for now, I will have to search for another good, cruelty-free, irritation-free mascara out there... Very disappointed.

I added this to my order on a whim while I was ordering the "Thank me later" eyeshadow primer that I love and I was not disappointed! Gives me beautiful lashes and easy to wash off. I have not had any clumping or smudging. Will order again.
