Purchased this to try and stimulate bone growth in my left foot after an accident, I have four fractured toes, and two fractured metatarsals. Medical devices by Orthofix and Exogen provide ultrasonic generators that are approved by FDA for this purpose. I’m a retired elec. engineer and thought I’d try this knowing some of the specs for the medical devices. I was hoping the ultrasonic feature might be comparable and provide a less expensive solution.Unfortunately, the two semi circular electrodes on the face of this device heat up no matter what mode is selected. At higher power settings it’s enough to burn your skin. Also, I was hoping the "EMS" function would be like a Tens unit, but it didn't seem to do anything except burn me as noted above. I’m also not sure what the ”RF” function is as there is zero technical information about the device or anything about the manufacturer, on the box, the device or the simple instructions. It does appear that the small hole in the center of the circular metal piece is an ultrasonic piezo element that is active about twice per second as I could see the gel move when that function is selected. I don’t have a scope to check the operating frequency but I’d guess 500Khz or above.
