Good product. Works as advertised
Product is designed and built well. Snaps together very quickly and easily. It's about the size of a coffee maker. Setting up the feeding times and portion sizes takes a little trial and error. It's not difficult, you just have to learn the sequence of the buttons. There are only four buttons so its not too complicated. Instructions aren't a great help with that. But once is it programmed, it works perfectly. I have two cats so I set up 2 feeding times per day with 5 portions per feeding. A portion is 15 grams of food. If will go up to six portions per feeding and you can have up to six meal times per day. After observing the feeder for a few days, I had to make some small adjustments to the portion size and frequency to find the right balance for my cats. And since I know how to program it, making adjustments only takes a few seconds. Now I've got it dialed in. BEWARE: the very first feeding will not be a full feeding because 2 of the 3 small food hoppers inside will be empty when its brand new out of the box. Just add a little extra food for the first feeding and the machine will do its thing perfectly for the second feeding and beyond. Not being aware of this caused me to make several unnecessary adjustments and over feed my cats. I have weighed the portions sizes on a food scale and the feeder does put out 15 grams per portion right down to the exact gram. Now I just fill the big hopper and forget about it. I'm very happy with this product. I highly recommend.

Long lasting product
I bought this almost 2 years ago, and it still works perfectly! For me, it holds exactly one month worth of food and the serving feature allows me to spread out his food throughout the day

Reliable Automatic feeder
Works well. The feeding tray is removable for washing. Easy to program and allows you to record a message that goes off right before the food is dispensed. For example I recorded "Kitty, Kitty, Kitty" because that's how I call her before I feed her. It runs by electricity but also uses batteries in case the electricity goes off.

Amazing product!
My previous review is below [Updated review] 3/22/24 I previously stated that the battery compartment was faulty. That is the furthest thing from the truth. The reason I said it was because I didn't know that after changing the settings or whatever you're doing on the screen it goes into a "locked mode" to prevent your pooch ๐ถ from pressing the buttons (Genius!) so I wasn't aware of it so when I was pressing all the buttons except the correct one to take it out of that mode. I thought it wasn't responding because the batteries kept getting disconnected due to it being faulty. I should've figured it was fine when I discovered in the morning that food had dispensed that it was a me issue and not the dispenser. I really do highly recommend this dispenser it's great as long as you use the safety strap to keep the top closed. TL;DR Great product with many dispensing times highly recommended. When you're done adjusting the settings the screen will lock and you'll need to press the top left button to adjust the settings again. Lastly it is wise to utilize the safety strap that comes with it. [Previous review] I'll start with the positives of this product. It does hold a lot of food! I don't have to constantly refill the food as fast as I do with my other automatic feeder. Setting up the time and feeding schedule is easy (as long as you read the instructions first) there is a lot of feeding time slots. They have them labeled as Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's even brunch options in between them and a 5th and 6th meal too. Unfortunately there is a big negative when it comes to the product. The battery compartment doesn't hold the batteries in well. Whenever I put the batteries in and my dog moves it a little too much (not knocking it over or anything) when she eats from it or sniffs around it too hard the batteries seem to pop out and it loses power (obviously) so if I'm not constantly checking on it to ensure that the batteries didn't pop out again she won't get fed. I've had to do the process of turning the whole feeder upside down, undoing the battery compartment, fixing the batteries, closing the compartment, and then resetting the current time at least 6 times and I've only used it for only 4 days. It's quite irritating. I did use the power cord for the first day (before I could buy the required 4AA batteries) and my puppy chew it right up. I was devastated but it was my fault because I should've known to have the batteries before using the product. The product could be really great if it wasn't for this battery issue. I am going to try and macgyver it and see if I can figure out a solution, if not I will unfortunately be returning it because it would be useless to me. (I will come back with an update)

Good for feral feeder
I have 2 of these set up for a few feral cats for redundancy, as I live 2 hours away so can only visit every 1-2 weeks. To keep it safe I have it placed in a 5 gallon bucket with a slot cut out on the bottom for bowl to connect and goes just high enough to not block the chute. I did add some heavy duty velcro to adhere the front of the feeder to the inside wall of the bucket so that it stays in place and didn't shift. Bucket has a secure lid and grooves for my ratcheting tie down straps that I use around the bucket to secure it in its place. I have a covered outdoor shower built of wood that has a dressing room and bench area. The bucket is super secure but also very accessible up on the bench ratched against an inside wall and the bench seat. It cannot be seen from the outside, and sheltered from wind, rain and sun. The walls stop about a foot from the ground, allowing cats to come and go freely from any direction. Edit: Discovered that this feeder will suspend dispensing if it gets backed up. It will not resume again until you push a button. So if my cats skip a meal because of bad weather, the next scheduled drop doesn't have room in the bowl and backs up to the chute. This triggers the system to stop. Even if the bowl is cleared of food thereafter, no more food will dispense until a person comes and hits the buttons to reset. Several times my cats went unfed for a week, as I only refill and check on the feeders weekly. THIS is where a wifi connection would help, as it could alert me via phone app that there is a backup malfunction. One thing that helped reduce this from happening was to disconnect the bowl and set it several inches below the dispenser so the chute was less likely to get backed up. I placed a wood board under the dispenser bucket to raise it up, and used industrial strength velcro to keep the bowl centered under the chute.

Mostly works great
I have three of these, one for each kitty, and I love them! My cats donโt pester me in the early mornings when itโs about time for food. If I end up staying out over night, I donโt need to worry. My only thing is I need to reset the clock once a month. It some how looses time. One of them even becomes 5 minutes behind after a month. . . And then thereโs my trouble making cat. He recently discovered that he can tip them over and eat to his hearts content. I think he must have been wrestling with one of his brothers and bumped into it. After that it was game over for him. He just kept tipping his over again and again. After having them for a year, I forgot where I stashed the velcro lock that came with the machines so I put a temporary solution on it but I knew it was a matter of time till he went after the other feeders. So I bought some locking straps. Iโm glad they came overnight because he did end up tipping the other feeders. I couldnโt help the feeling of victory when I came home after work to him wondering why the lid didnโt come off like before.

Perfect cat feeder
I cannot recommend this product enough! I have a cat that is on a very expensive prescription diet and he is also a huge pig! He is a very large pixie-bob (think maincoon, but bigger) and he will eat as much as he can every time it is offered and was packing on the pounds! The vet worked out a proper amount of food he gets each day and with this feeder I'm able to adjust the feeding to give him exactly what he needs to maintain a healthy weight. I have it set to give him a portion of his daily meals in the morning and then dinner comes at 7 p.m. He knows when it's close to feeding time and he will walk around the house "talking" until the feeder drops his meal. It is very easy to set up and has a lot of options for feeding. My favorite thing about it is that when I go away for weekend trips I don't have to put a large bowl of food out that he will eat as soon as I leave! He will get his normal meals and stay on his schedule. It has a really cool option for you to record your voice to call your pet for feeding time, but I have not set this up, in fact now that I'm writing this review I'm wondering why I i never did that, how fun is that? I'm gonna do that right now!

Functional with a few design flaws
Overall, this cat feeder has worked great and I wouldn't return it. However, I wouldn't buy a second one. Pros: - Putting the unit together was extremely easy. The meal programming is easy as well, although not perfectly intuitive--I've found myself hitting the wrong button a couple of times while messing with it. - The portions are extremely accurate and reliable. One portion is about 1/8th of a cup and was consistent several times when I tested it. - The display is simple and easy-to-read. I like that I can see which meals have been dispensed and which are left (the picture shows that I have only breakfast set up at the moment, and that it's already been dispensed) - The feeder is easy to clean because most of it dishwasher safe. The only portion of the non-dishwasher safe piece that touches food is the spout, and that is large enough that it can be wiped clean. - I love that it has both a plug in option and a battery back-up. My house has random power flickers so it's nice to know my cat's mealtimes won't be affected. Cons: - The battery back up (yes, I did also list this as a 'pro'). You can't just unplug the unit to turn it off, and there's no on/off switch. Getting it to turn off completely requires removing the batteries, which requires disassembling the feeder since the battery pack is on the underside. The food hopper also can't stand by itself, so it has to be balanced carefully to avoid food spilling out when doing this (I guess I could put the strap on the lid to keep it shut instead). - The unit makes a high pitched beep when dispensing a meal, even if you record your own message. Maybe my ears are sensitive, but it's not a particularly pleasant noise. I've debated taking it apart and trying to remove the speaker. The audio quality isn't fantastic on a recorded message, either, but I didn't expect it to be (and wasn't planning on using that feature, anyway) - The deep, square dish isn't very "whisker fatigue friendly". My girl will use her paw to bring pieces of food from the corner to the center to eat out of it. I solved this by trading out the square dish with a different one (that's also a slow feeder so she doesn't gobble her meal all at once). The nice thing about the removable tray design is that it's recessed slightly, so I was able to switch to a round dish without food going everywhere when it goes off. - I would love an easy way to skip a meal, because when I'm home for her lunch I like to put it in a puzzle toy instead. Instead I have to set the portion to "0" and then remember to set it back before the next day. This is maybe a function that you could get with a more expensive unit. - No screen lock. Once again, this is something you could get with a more expensive unit so I suppose I'm getting what I paid for. I think a smart, extremely food motivated cat could figure out to press and hold the right button to get extra food.

Not happy with this product.
The feeder keeps increasing the amount of food per serving. eg. I have each serving set at 1 but it dispenses 1 1/2 servings. I've tried resetting it but it's still doing it.
