Swim Jump Fly: A Guide To Changing Your Life

Most readable!
This book is so unlike the other books that I have bought to enhance my professional knowledge. It is a book that is intended for anyone seeking change for them to use as a tool and as a support. I particularly liked the tone; it's like a friend's conversation with the reader. It has humour, real stories and fab cartoons throughout! Underpinning this fabulously readable book are coaching theories and models that are so subtle that it removes it from being a 'preachy self-help' book. I found the summary section of each chapter very useful. This is an unusual feature but so helpful! You won't be disappointed with this one - it's definitely one to include in anyone's 'must read' list.

Perfect present for friends and clients, and a great source of inspiration.
I usually stay away from self-help and 'how to achieve this and that…in X steps' books. I don't even like most coaching models with steps and acronyms. However, I have offered this book to friends and recommended it to clients because unlike the other ones, it is actually very informative, well-documented, well-written, fluid and engaging. I really like the cartoons and the wide range of real stories. The book is a great guidance to navigate uncertain times and changes or simply work on what's next. I don't follow steps and tend to dip in different parts, but I always find interesting tools, and resources, in addition to stories that often speak to me. Charlotte's genuine passion for people and her delightful sense of humour make the book really easy to read. For me Swim Jump Fly is a great source of inspiration and resources and I would highly recommend it.

A refreshing read and a must for anyone wanting to make a change in their life.
I was recommended Swim, Jump, Fly by a friend after a change in personal circumstances left me unclear in what direction I should pursue my next career move. Charlottes five stage process helped me untangle the wealth of experience I had gained over the years, which then helped create a plan of action. The exercises along the way are a great benefit and help you identify how best to move forward to where you wish to end up.The book contains many real life examples gained from Charlottes own research and interviews, Combined with quirky cartoons and Charlottes own anecdotal experiences make this book an easy read rather than the many sombre “self help” books I have read in the past.Have recommended Swim, Jump, Fly to friends and anyone wanting to make a change in any aspect of their life.

A great book which really promotes reflection and discovery
I absolutely love this book. I've recommended it to a few coaching clients already. Its a great book to think deeply about your 'what next' and what change you really do want and how you might go about achieving it in the best way for you as an individual. Its like a buffet of ideas and thoughts for change. Its part coaching, part self help and a little bit of extra discovery if you end up following the paths into the different exercises, articles, resources and tools and techniques.I love the idea of the 3 concepts to accommodate not only us, our lives but the different levels of appetite for change and risk that all individuals have - and where this might come from.If you swim, like a fish you might shift lanes and have the appetite for slower more incremental change; for others, change is a jump like a grasshopper hopping over in a brave but more calculated way to test out changes. For others, change is more like flying free - like bird with a bigger shift and more distance travelled.Whatever animal you are, and however you like to approach change, the book explores change as an exploration - gently and curiously working with you at the pace thats right for you.Every time I pick it up I immerse myself into a different path or train of thought related to working well with self and others.I'm very happy that I bought this book and recommend it highly.Cath

Absolute gem of a book!
We chose this book as part of our professional development bookclub and the feedback from members was overwhelmingly positive. I was drawn to this book because of its quirky title and engaging cartoon drawings throughout. What I found was an accessible, warm, humorous and engaging book supporting people through changes in their lives. I was reading it from a Careers Consultant perspective and found lots of inspiration and ideas for things I could use with clients. The concept that we all approach change in one of our natural 'swim, jump or fly' ways was really appealing and I have used this with clients, family and friends with great success. Charlotte writes in such a fun way, it's easy to forget that this book comes with a lot of experience and research behind it. I would recommend this for anyone facing a change, or working with others who are dealing with change. Honestly a brilliant read!

Easy to read and implement action
"Swim Jump Fly" is a treasure trove to help anyone wanting to make a change but unsure what direction they want to go in. Charlotte Sheridan seamlessly uses psychological concepts and coaching tools and exercises in an accessible and easy to implement way. I have recommended this book to a number of coaching clients looking for a career change as a way to make progress outside of the coaching sessions. It is written lightly, but using deep psychological expertise. A great book for anyone feeling stuck on their change journey.

Excellent livre!!
