Got this spiral coil puncher and binding machine to make my own covers for my Erin Condren spiral planner. I couldn't find any other hole punchers that were more affordable that punched the same holes. It works well and was able to punch covers that had 2 layers of 3 mil laminate on them without getting caught. It cut through like butter. Very nice! Super easy to use. Size is large, but that's okay, it is able to punch all different sizes of paper, so far I have used it for A5 and Letter sized paper. It is quite heavy and sturdy. Great value for what you get - it also comes with plastic spiral coils and a crimper plier to be able to make your own notebooks. I made 1 notebook already. I think for the skinny coils, you will need to set the holes to punch closer to the edge of teh paper, otherwise it is hard to turn the pages if the holes punch with a larger margin. I specifically use this hole punch to work with my Erin Condren Daily Duo Life Planner 7x9 size. It works perfectly.

I only used one other one where I worked and it was terrible. This one is awesome. Firstly, there is a solid back stop which assures your paper is square. There are both in / out and side to side adjustments which work good. Unlike some others the lever pushes on both sides which eliminates internal stress and I believe will keep its alignments over the years. Best part, if you look at the pictures you see the silver things sticking out? Those are the punches. It doesn't punch all the holes at once, but rather in order from both outsides in. It's easier to punch than a 3 holer, and when the outsides are punched, the paper is locked in place. Perfect engineering! The powered roller that inserts the binding spring is well thought out and works well too. This thing is a bit on the big and heavy side. Looks and acts professional. I am glad I bought this one. Punching 42 holes in one pass through 20 sheets is a bit of pressure. This handled it nicely. Something else, if by some chance you punch something it doesn't like and jams, pull the pins on the not yet punched holes (they slide forward a bit) and work the handle to free the stuck pin. I haven't needed that feature. YET 😀

Back in college days I had access to a binding machine and loved the way it was so easy to use. Since those days I have always wanted to have one of my own. The price that the Office Supply stores charge for binding a document for you is more that I want to spend. I decided to finally bite the bullet and purchase this machine. Since the day it arrived, I have become coil binding maniac. I have been binding everything in sight. With coil binding of a manual or instruction book, the pages of the document are easier to work with and the pages do not get torn or ripped at the fastener unlike stapled or three-hole punched pages. My favorite use so far has been to coil bind my music books. No more trying to flatten the pages and using other books on the page edges to keep the book open. Now the coil bound music book can be opened, with the pages laid out flat against the music stand. No more fussing with trying to get the pages to stay open. You can also buy coils in various colors and sizes.

I do a lot of complex electronics projects and love paper over PC screen. This is great for all the datasheets and sample code so I can write all over it. It would be better if the included coil set was multiple sizes instead of a whole lot of the smallest coils. It will take me a decade to create that many tiny notebooks. The edge guide is really sloppy, so it is quite hard to get it in the same place the next time around. If you punch paper, then a cover for the booklet and try to punch more paper, it is all but impossible to put the guide in the same place - this shows up in the finalized booklet, which doesn't look nearly as good as it could. Other than that, it punches cleanly and the pin disconnect makes sure the edges of the paper is clean. The pliers are definitely unique - they cut any excess coil and bend it so that it doesn't back out of the notebook all at the same time.

If you’re a homeschool mom like me trying to pick the perfect spiral binder. This one is fantastic. I would definitely purchase this again, it has been a game changer for binding my own curriculum.

So far this machine has met expectations and I'm loving the possibilities. I am already finding infinite uses. However unfortunately, I have to mark it down several stars because it clearly came used. Machine Condition: It came in the product box funny enough to my door unsealed on the outside short of the machine on the inside which was plastic-wrapped. It looked like it had been stored for a while. Anyway, I was thinking it was maybe re-oiled because of the nature of the smudges being more like oil on the chassis (which I cleaned some off) but what is noticeable is the line that runs around where the panel opens and closes. The smudge marks were that color but more smeared and only visible close up. However, it's obvious there was some clean up as there's dust on mechanisms and in different places, such as the rubberized coil insert, where it would be much more difficult to spot clean. Other than that, the machine appears to work as it should and I haven't had any issues with it so far but I have only had it for several days. Other thoughts: If you are a creative of any kind who likes to make unique things and are looking into binding machines and even remotely suspect you might need the disengaging pins, DO IT. Yes, it's a big price difference, but it will pay for itself very quickly. I have already used this function multiple times because I found I needed it more than just an "optional". I was able to pull a packet of loose leaf color sheets I had purchased for my daughter from my closet that were already numbered and ready to be bound and found they were a very oddball size. Binding those were very straightforward because of this function. The other consideration is I have loads of art papers from massive sketchbooks I was able to pull and cut down to economical sizes (ie not standard). One book I was able to repurpose because it had some light damage on the end of it but other than that because they were such huge sheets I could easily turn them into a decent spiral. So I really recommend to get this function and don't skimp. Sell a few junk journals to friends for a few bucks here and there and it'll more than cover that price difference, I think. I love working in wide format so I can finally make portable books. My crimping skills aren't the best yet but pairing this with my Epson Wideformat Ecotank (and better 12x12 matte paper eventually), I can see making a lot of high quality books with this.

Easy to use. I've punched 30 planners with about 200 pages each. The only thing I would say is make sure that you don't do too big of a stack at once, and make sure that your paper is lined up in the same place every time. Not just left to right, but make sure that you've pushed it as far in as it will go. I would buy this again.
