Great device. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Clear to read, and inteligently resets the minimum temperature at 8:00 pm and the maximum at 8:00 am. Haven't yet had it long enough to guage battery life - but there are always rechargeables. Nor have I checked the accuracy of the internal clock it uses for resetting - but this would have to be pretty bad for this to be a nuissance - it does not display the time. Adhesion to the window - two sticky pads - seem solid so far, but again only time and hot weather will tell. There is a bar you stick on, and the device clips securely onto this. I think it is accurate, but have no accurate thermometer to compare it with. Only possible criticism is that it is visible mainly by transmitted light, and not too clear at night. I sometimes find it best to put on our outside lights to read it at night.

This was great when it was cold and frosty and worked really well. The first time that we had a storm with wind and rain it stopped working. The digital readout wasn't visible. When it was dried out in the house and left for a while the readout became visible again. It seems OK now. Customer service was very good and when I complained about not being able to read the LCD display I was sent another. The thermometer is excellent but blew off and smashed in a gale and wind last night. I have ordered another today. It needs some protection from weather and a more secure mounting which I will sort myself

Good well-made product, easy to read display (see below), I particularly like the minimum and maximum display and the fact it automatically resets at 08:00 (max) and 20:00 (min), appears relatively accurate. Easy to fit and has a shield that can be fitted to protect the rear of the display. Only drawback is that it is nigh-on impossible to read in the dark (with a flashlight), but perhaps we should be tucked up in front of the fire/in bed by then..? UPDATE: I was initially impressed with this thermometer; easy to read display (err in the daylight - trying to read it in reduced lighting is another story..), appeared quite accurate and I liked the maxima and minima function. However, after about a year's use the display disappeared entirely and I naturally assumed the battery required replacement, this was not however the situation and no matter what I did to restore the display (new batteries, reset buttons, clean contacts...) it was in vain. It is therefore quite an expensive "throw away" item.

Doesn't look too obvious when stuck to the window and during the day it's clear and easy to read. Impossible to read in the dark without a torch - unless you have it backlit by an external lamp, but otherwise really good. The two sticky pads are 3M, and have stuck the unit surpisingly well to the window - due to the profile of my window I couldn't attach it to the window frame and see all of the display, so the window was the only option. Seems to read the same sort of temperature that the weather forcast gives - which could mean that it's spot on (the temperature reading in my car (and the wife's) is always a few degrees different - so I guess those might be wrong?). Also, as it's mounted on the window it gives you the air temperature - last night it was reading +2.5 but the pavement was definetly iced over - that's more down to placement rather than operation. Would definetly recommend it - oh, and it comes with batteries!

I would love to recommend this because, on paper, it was exactly what I was looking for: a large-digit outdoor thermometer with no unnecessary information; just a daily minimum, daily maximum and current temperature all displayed in large digits to tenths of a degree celsius. That is certainly what I got, and when it worked it worked beautifully. The problem was all the little niggles that eventually made me give up. 1. It doesn't matter how clean and dry the window is when you stick the unit to the glass, the thermometer falls off. I heeded previous reviewers' concerns and cleaned the glass first with soapy water, then dried it and cleaned it with glass cleaner, then dried that and cleaned it with nail-polish remover. You can't get any cleaner a surface than that. I held it in place with as much pressure as I could for fully a minute to be sure that its adhesive pads were stuck to the glass as firmly as they could be. The thermometer stayed in position for one night and fell off. Luckily, a gutter caught it, otherwise it would have been smashed on the ground one floor below. 2. At the first sign of damp or wet, the display fades and even disappears. This happens even with the frosted-plastic protective backing clicked into position. 3. The thermometer is at least two degrees out, according to a calibrated thermometer I brought in for a comparison. Subtracting two degrees from every reading is not such a problem, but should a customer have to? 4. It is very difficult to read in the dark, although not impossible if you use a torch at the right angle. 5. The battery housing seems loose, which might explain why the display disappears occasionally. I would consider adjusting the housing with a screwdriver to seat the battery more firmly, but the contacts seem very flimsy and would probably snap at the first hint of pressure. All in all, this is a great design and the perfect, simple concept. It's just a shame that so many niggles make it unreliable and frustrating. I wouldn't buy another one. Next time, I'll buy a unit that stays indoors and takes its readings from an outside sensor.

I was very pleased with this thermometer when it arrived. It was easy to set up and fix in position on the outside of a window. The display is clear and its large digits make it easy to read at a glance from across the room and the maximum/minimum readings - automatically reset daily were very useful. I was unable to measure the accuracy of the temperature readouts but they always conformed closely with forecast temperatures so all in all I was delighted with the product. However, after a month in position, the display began to break up and the digits became impossible to read, and with regret I had to retun the unit for a refund. I hope that the fault is a rare one, but I have nevertheless replaced it with a different model - shame.

I bought this item from Amazon on the 20th February, 2010, and thought that I had reviewed it at the time. Checking, it seems that I hadn't. Better late than never, it is time to put the record right. This little gadget has been stuck on the outside of my study window for the past three years giving me accurate temperature readings since then. I noticed this morning that it had stopped working. It was totally blank. I ventured out, easily removed the cover and replaced the AAA battery. Et voila! The wee thing sparked into life once more. I now look forward to another 3 years of accurate readings till I have to, once more, replace the AAA battery. What more can I say. This is a totally brilliant and thoroughly reliable thermometer. If you haven't yet got one, don't delay. Highly recommend!

Its super clear at eye level. Its very well designed. Loved the battery included too. More important is it makes my wife really happy and should it keep working perfectly, I will buy another one .
