Benny Andersson: Piano: Music from Abba, Chess and More - 21 Transcriptions

A very well notated and presented book. I bought it to learn how to play 'The Day Before You Came' (I'm a Grade 5 pianist, so it's just manageable for me).The only thing to mention is that you need to bend the book back considerably, in order to keep it open on the page you want to play.

There is scope for improving the scoring and harmony for piano. Still glad I bought it.

Great songs arranged so well for piano. Not too hard

I heard one of these tracks on Classic FM initially and had to buy the CD. However the icing on the cake is being able to play these too on the piano. I am not a very accomplished pianist, but these have been written in such a way to be 'playable'. I'd say they are at about a grade 5 standard.

The book took longer to arrive than expected but it is good quality. The music seems suitable for most pianists, some will be more challenging for me but I am determined to enjoy it!

One of greatest living composers. Very clever arrangements, with great embellishments, compared to standard score arrangments of Abba-type songs, with all the time signature and key change complexities. Pure joy to play - so good I'm ordering another copy, when they restock- must be popular !

I love the cd from which this book comes. I'm not as good a pianist as Benny, but it's good fun trying.

Now everyone can try to ‘copy’ Benny’s elegant interpretations of his own compositions.It’s a beautifully produced book, but it should have been spiral-bound.

Die Stücke sind gut selektiert und arrangiert. Klingen (fast) so, wie die Aufnahmen. Wer ABBA mag wird begeistert sein. Für jede Generation geeignet, die schöne Musik genießen möchte... Allerdings sollte man ausreichend pianistische Kenntnisse besitzen, für Anfänger etwas überfordernd. Es lohnt sich!

This is the score book, complementing the marvelous solo piano (CD) arrangements as composed and performed by the incredible talented and frankly nothing short of a musical genius, Benny Andersson. The musical arrangements are hauntingly beautiful and masterfully created for the solo piano performances, they were intended for. It isn’t an understatement when Göran Arnsberg is being thanked for in this edition, for his careful transcription of the pieces. It’s not an easy task at hand. Unfortunately, however there are some minor transcription mistakes here and there, I’ve encountered thus far, compared to the CD performance by Benny Andersson. (En Skrift I Snön) It is not a big deal for me personally to correct the mistakes and re-entering the pieces into my notation program correctly, as I’m a professional composer and musician. But for folks who anticipate and expect every single note heared on the CD to be written down correctly, it will not be the case in every single piece in this book. But all in all, by all means a MUST buy.I can’t thank you enough, Benny Andersson, for the heart warming music you’ve created over the decades. You are a true master. Thank You For The Music.
