I am very new to mushroom cultivation and these bags are freaking perfect as they hold up in the pressure cannet but also seal pretty easily.

Work Great if Used Correctly
These mushroom bags work great but they will burst in the PC if proper precautions are not taken.First, they cannot come into contact with the bottom or sides of your pressure cooker (PC). The PC will get very hot and it will melt the plastic. I place metal canning rings under the canning rack and then drape cloth over the rim of the PC arranged so that the interior is completely lined with cloth. Then I load the bags and then fold the cloth over top of the bags to clear the rim of the PC once loaded.Second, you cannot have any air in your bags or they will pop. The air expands under pressure — a lot! — and the filter patch does not provide enough ventilation to allow excess air to escape. The bags will then pop, and you will probably hear it. There are a couple of ways to prevent this. One is to not seal the bags until after they are PCed. This does complicate sealing the bags because the PC will wrinkle and distort the plastic. It is also not foolproof because if the bags are rolled tightly closed as per common practice then they could burst anyway. The safest way to prevent air from bursting your bags is to just not have any. Push all the excess air out of the bag so they look like they are vacuum sealed (which btw is impossible with these bags because of the filter patch). . Once all the air is out of the bag you can seal them and PC or else PC first as per your preference. I personally like to seal the bags before pressure cooking because they seal better, and I can verify that the excess air is fully removed before they go into the PC. If the air is not removed then you will observe a noticeable pillow of air inside when you try to roll them up. I seal my bags as close to the top as possible so that if necessary I can open the seal, remove the excess air, and still have enough head room to reseal the bag.If you follow these precautions then you can avoid bursting your bags on the regular.

Review
These bags are awesome and they have out performed the bags that I bought at Colorado Cultures a mushroom supply store. The bags are thicker and cheaper , sturdier the size of the bags are slightly bigger than what I bought elsewhere

Decent bag
It's a decent bag for the price I don't like how many wrinkles it gets after the pressure cook. And I don't know how good the patches are or it's cracks in the wrinkles but usually a .2 filter patch takes a minute to fill the bag with air and when you squeeze the bag the air goes out very slowly but these bags seem like the air pressure goes out way faster than say a unicorn bag or bags I've used in the past like from shroom supply. I used a impulse sealer to seal the bags and in the very middle it seemed it wasn't melting correctly so I changed the heating element and cover to see if that fixes the problem bc sometimes that's the issue if your impulse sealer isn't working correctly, but nope. That wasn't it I had to turn the sealer way down then seal several times for it final to seal correctly. I did that for half the bags then got frustrated and started zip tying the rest other than that we will see if the filter patch or wrinkles cause contamination

Stands up to Pressure Cooker 15psi
It's just what you want it for. They work. I think out of 500 bags, maybe, one has busted and that's because I tried using it a second time after contamination. It's a good product. If they keep the same manufacturing process and use the same material, I can recommend. This is July2024.

These bags cant handle pressure cooker
I tried these bags despite others saying it couldnt handle pressure cooking. Since they are so cheap. Its true these bags arent able to handle a pc. I lined the walls with lots of aluminum foil. Also tried wrapping them in towels in the pc individually. Ultimately i had more bags with grains i had to throw away, then bags that survived. Out of about 25 bags i put in the pc only about 5 survived. And then they wouldnt seal properly with the impulse sealer. These bags are not meant for a pc. They work ok as a substrate bag that isnt going into a pc.

The bag in the pic makes it seem a lot smaller then it can actually hold good quality bag strong and can hold lots
