Three-part documentary presented by television personality and railway enthusiast Chris Tarrant. Travelling round the coast of India, the outback of Australia and the jungles of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tarrant takes the viewer on a journey of discovery as he meets the drivers and engineers of the railways that put these places on the map.

Essential viewing for those interested in railways, even if you wouldn't pick these trains yourself.
Railway travel is very much under the auspices of Palin and Portillo, traditionally. Both have been doing their thing for years and become expert at it. I was not sure what kind of a programme Chris Tarrant might make. I ended up after viewing his three episodes being quite impressed. Two things stand out. Firstly this is one hundred percent railway travel dedication, and he's dedicated. He knows his stuff. Second, interactions with locals, all good, nothing phoney or staged. If he's frustrated, he reveals that, engagingly. I would certainly like to see more episodes.

Very informative and entertaining dvd. Nice to see all the different countries and the hassles of travelling abroad. Highly recommend.

Three very interesting railways.
Despite some initial reservation as to how Chris Tarrant would handle these three railways he did them justice.Chris gets on well with all sorts of travellers, railway staff, engineers and develops a good understanding of these three very different railways.I have watched the DVD three times already.
