These are amazing, super simple to set up and work with HomeKit without any special hardware. I really enjoyed these and had several of them throughout my house. The adhesive is actually really good which I was kind of surprised about because a lot of these things are really hard to keep stuck. The battery life was excellent and they lasted quite a while for me. If you want something that just works with HomeKit without adding more “routers” or other mysterious boxes to your home clogging up your network this is a great option.

My house is loaded with Zigbee sensors of all sorts, usually routed through Z2M and then to Home Assistant, then pushed to Apple HomeKit. However, many of these devices are of the cheap variety. When I wanted a sensor for my front door, I figured I'd try spending more and going with Thread/Matter/HomeKit integrated device instead. This thing has been rock solid. Yes, it's literally 5x more than the contact sensor on my office door, but it's been a total beast with battery life (6 months and it's still basically perfect). It's never really dropped off the network, and I have it paired via Matter to HK and HA separately. If there were competitive options to this Eve sensor that were maybe $12-$15, I'd consider doing my whole house in these.

Eve makes the best Smart Home power switches hand's down. Totally reliable, stays connected to my Matter/Thread system, fast response to commands. What's not to like? They do cost more, but for the lack of trouble I get from other brands of lower quality, they pay for themselves. (Look for sales like Black Friday and buy a bunch!).

After purchasing (and repurchasing) this sensor, my personal history with it is that it’s going to fail after a few months and nothing - not replacing the battery, not resetting the unit, not deleting it and re-adding it to the Eve app - will make it work. Do not recommend!

The Eve Door & Window Sensor is hands down the best sensor I have ever used! [Update] Since I wrote this, I have purchased a few more. I have actually removed one of the gripes I had in my earlier review because I figured out that I needed to read the instructions.:-). That said, one thing to look out for: some earlier versions of this come “HomeKit compatible” and not “Thread/Matter” compatible out of the box. When you install it, it gives you the option to upgrade to Matter support, but then the QR code changes. Unfortunately you only find out which one you have once it’s on your network. It’s not a big deal, but if you ever have to set it up again, the QR code on the sensor won’t be the one you need to use to set it up again. If you update it, make sure to save that QR code [/Update] First off, let me get this out of the way. If you want a Threat-based window/door sensor, this is the only one you should be looking at. There aren't a lot of other choices, but this is the only one I have found that continues working after 24 hours (I won't name names, but the other ones know who they are). Of course, check the date of this review, as things may get better but for now, don't waste your time with anybody else. I was extremely happy to see how well integrated this was with HomeKit. Once I connected the sensor to my HomeKit network, I saw that there was an update ready and it immediately started downloading and installed without any action from me. This is how these devices should work. I have always heard that Eve's products were well designed, but I had always shied away from them because they weren't always the least expensive option. That said, this has been a very good experience for me, and I will buy more of these sensors as soon as I get the warm fuzzy that it will stay working after a week. (Being on the bleeding edge of Thread is not without its frustrations.)

The Eve Door & Window sensor is another great product from Eve. Setup with Matter is very easy. I am using this as part of my Apple HomeKit home. All I have to do is scan the QR code on the product and my phone automatically connects to the sensor and adds it to my home. I setup my sensors as a door sensor to check if the front door to my house is closed. You can also add automations like turning on a closet light when the door is open. Additionally, with Matter support this Eve product now works with Alexa and Google Home! I am very impressed by the ease of setup and responsiveness of this product and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a smart home contact sensor.

Easy to install on iOS. It does its job well.

Great sensors, but the ergonomics are not ideal. It was difficult to use on my sliding door because of the inset, I had to make my own risers to line of the sensor. Also, the way the risers interlock is not intuitive. Key them so you can't accidentally snap them in the wrong order/orientation.
