Works like a charm!
I’m convinced I looked at every bug zapper offered on Amazon before deciding on this one. I needed it to be cordless, portable, reliable, rechargeable, inexpensive, and wanted the most voltage possible to ensure effective zapping. This zapper ticks all those boxes and more. It is 4200v which is more than twice the voltage of others I looked at. My photos don’t capture the strength of the UV light - its a consistent color the whole way down the center column. The bonus lamp has 2 brightness settings and can be rotated to point in any direction. (And came in handy during a recent power outage!) Most importantly, this zapper kills bugs effectively. I recently used it while outside watching a fireworks show, and we all became more interested in watching insects meet their doom than the fireworks! There was quite a pile of carnage in a very short time. It even killed very large beetles and moths that could barely squeeze through the outer cage. It’s easily cleaned by gently tapping it at an angle to shake off bugs at the bottom, and it also comes with a brush to sweep the ones that get adhered to the metal. I’ve had no problems cleaning it.I’ve also used it several times so far and have not yet needed to recharge it. The battery is solid. If you’re on the fence about which bug zapper to buy, consider this your sign - this is the one!

Go away bugs!
This works great on our deck. With summer and now fall coming, we do many of our family dinners on the deck. I always have to worry about the bugs and esp my kids get super anxious with bugs. This zapper works great and we have it put right next to the light. It helps keep the bugs away. It's light weight and very easy to use.

These sorts of devices do work with pests that are attracted to IR light
A battery operated bug zapper? Where do I sign up?Many (not all) flying pests are attracted to inferred light (IR) and wrapping a IR source with a high voltage or otherwise deadly (to insects anyway) grid is something that home and patio gizmo makers have been doing for decades. The problems with the afore mentioned devices is two fold, they are usually large+heavy and require 120VAC to operate. While they are able to provide almost limitless 'frying power' to 'zap' flying pests replacement bulbs are ether or both very expensive and nary impossible to source/find.Enterprising users could pair one of the devices up with a ~400W inverter and deep cycle battery for bug zapping duties away from 'mains' 120VAC however the size+weight+cost of such a solution might be considered a bit silly at best. (I'll admit to doing this in the past.) :)In 2023 there ought to be a better solution and indeed there is! The device market has many rechargable battery powered devices that use low power+long lasting LED's for the portable and semi portable market. The 'Solar Bug Zapper' (being reviewed here) is one such device. The #1 question might be about the 'use pattern'. When and for how long would someone use such a device? The market is filled with examples of effective solar powered walkway lights. During the day they are charged by whatever available sun they get and at dusk/night they automatically turn on to illuminate the users walkway for a few or more hours (often times until the sun comes up the next day). While I imagine that in a 'perfect world' a 'solar bug zapper' would be used in much if not the same way the problem is that the bug zappers have to not only energize ether electrodes or 'grids' and zap bugs but do this while also supplying pest attracting IR light.Given that the SUN is orders of magnitude brighter than this (or most if not all other) device it ought to be most effective when not competing with the sun and/or placed in partial shade or simply used in the evenings/mornings after sunset or before sun rise.Since the light emitted is intended to attract pests, it might work best placed away from humans and between humans and possible sources of flying pests (like foliage or water/lakes/streams).While with a fully charged battery this device will power the multi wavelength IR LED's and high voltage grid for ~7HRS (without zapping any bugs – which logically ought to use more energy and deplete the battery quicker) operating it with full exposure to the sun only extends its run time by ~30min. (~7.5hrs of run time operating in full sun vs ~7hrs operating in dark room)This by itself really brings to question just HOW solar powered the device is or if it really could be considered 'solar powered' at all. Given the above results I'll be USBC charging my device overnight for campground use. To be fair if given enough sun light hours (days/weeks?) you could fully recharge it using only the solar panel on the top.The device will shut itself off when the battery is depleted.Next to the USBC charge port is ether 2 LED's or a BI-COLOR LED that lights RED when the device is charging via solar or USBC port and lights BLUE when the device is fully charged.I've taken a number of images of both the device in question and of my testing/review setups.Given that I'd decided that the 'solar charging' feature was fairly useless I turned my attention to the USBC charging and wondered if the USBC vs 'regular USB' or 'uUSB' was gaining us anything. To check this out I made use of two different USBC 'fast chargers' that are able to provide up to 45W of USBC power/charging and a USBC testing device. While 'standard USB' power is generally considered 5W I was able to measure ~9W of charging power going to the 'Solar Bug Zapper'. Surely not 'fast charging' however better than the 'microUSB' or 'uUSB' cords/adapters might provide.I tried two different USBC 'fast charging' devices as well as two different USBC cords that are known to provide USBC fast charging to other devices.I did not however time how long it takes to go from a fully depleted to fully charged (BLUE LED) state as I'll likely just plug it in for recharging overnight. I'll assume that like most items it may take a hand full of hours to recharge. Conclusion? While not as bright and powerful as home/patio units that run on 120VAC the device works and ~7hrs of run time ought to cover most peoples evenings/nights use and would be reusable if charged overnight or during the day with USBC.Disclaimer: I'm a retired Electronics industry professional.

It works!
I've had this for a while now and it still works great. The solar top charges (charging light indicates) and it lasts longer than I expected.

Works as expected
This zapper works as expected. I regret that I didn't buy one that was auto on and off but that was my fault. It zaps the bugs and the solar power last a long time. The flip out light is also helpful. Pretty durable. My only complaint is that I'd like a way to flip open and clean the bugs out rather than having to shake them out. It does come with a brush but I'd like a way to clean more thoroughly. Overall we are pleased with the product and feel it's worth the price.

“mosquitoes kill over 1,000,000 people a year🫨”First off, I’m buying a second one right after this review, ya it’s one of those “that good”.🫡First huge plus is it was wrapped in anti static wrap, usually only quality parts wrapped like this and this one is. Boxing was great too, will reuse the anti static when I store it.“ you should always top off charge this every month and a half even during the winter months to keep the battery healthy”Huge Zaps like the ones you get from $100 plug in models. The light on the side is prefect, u can turn it on and flip it around and close it for a stronger bug acceleration of attraction but definitely not needed.Haven’t test the solar and can’t tell you how long the battery last but I assume it’s 5 plus hour in bug city. “Just buy yourself a portable battery usb charger for this and it will last a week in the bush no problem. I use it for an hour at most in the tent to clear the bugs. The inside metal that zaps is huge gage metal not thin wires so the wires will not burn out from a large bug cooking on them which is. What will make this unit last.Be honest with the math, at $55 for this unit, if I get a summer use out of it it’s worth it “ on the portable side that is!A must if you have a kiddo like myself!Only con is the handle, it’s not worth hooking or hanging this product as the handle can go any time, be gentle and this can last but I see it going at any point if not cared for.I would honestly pay $120.00 for this unit

Love light and wireless design but it doesn’t work.
Great wireless design and light attachment. I wanted it to work so badly but it simply doesn’t attract the mosquitoes or any bugs.My other zapper would zap dozens and this one… none. Despite a nice design, it fails at its purpose.Returned.

Very Effective
I bought the lamp for my parents because they have a lot of house plants, which attracts a lot of bugs. After using it for a few days, there was already a significant reduction of small insects flying around. It was also very effective when I needed more light while doing some work on the couch. There was enough light from the reading lamp, and the device is very light weight so I can conveniently move it from the plant rack and rested it on the armrest.

Terrible
Had this zapper for more than a week at a time when mosquitoes were at their worst and this bug zapper never even killed one bug of any kind. Never even had to clean it out to send it back. Would not recommend it to anyone!
