The sheathing around the wires to protect them.
Seems like a good set of cables. Have used them a hand full of times with no issues. Plugs in & out of panels & charge controller saw plug just fine. Would recommend these to others.

Verify polarity
Arrived in a timely manner. Basically works as de scripted. BUT, do as they suggest, verify the polarity before you attach the cable to your equipment. The cable colors had me baffled for a while, it took time for my 77 year old brain to sort things out. I would buy again,… 👍

Good cable but note polarity
Cable seems fine but note that the polarity is reversed if you’re using this an extension cord to connect your solar panels to an SAE plug. They’ve wired the MC4 connector end such that you can’t connect positive to positive. They do provide a reversing SAE adapter to flip the polarity at the other end but I still think it’s odd to do it this way. (And it makes the black wire positive and the red wire negative.)I guess they expect you to connect the SAE end to your power source and have the MC4 end connect to something that’s going to use that power, rather than the other way around.Anyway, to avoid having that SAE reversing adapter hanging off the SAE port on my van, I cut off the MC4 connectors and put on new ones in the correct polarity to use this as an extension cord for my portable solar panels. You may want to do the same.

Very efficient but a little heavy
This works great with my Renogy 200 Watt suitcase panel. I wish it came in a 50ft length though (I have yet to find it). The cover over the wires is of good quality. The connections are solid and a bit hard to disconnect for me because the tabs are small and I am starting to get arthritis. It makes it difficult to push down on the tabs and pull at the same time.Due to the gauge/weight of wire, it pulls down on the connector to my Zamp plug of my trailer and the plug is now deformed. I’m trying to rig something so it doesn’t pull down so much or I’ll be buying connectors every season. I am otherwise very happy with this purchase.

Connectors
Just what we needed to connect the solar panels. After alot of research we chose this and it worked out very well.

Works as advertised
The adapter connectors are of the same good quality as the Renogy solar panel connectors I hooked it up to on the roof of my camper. The reverse polarity adapter stuck up too high off the roof so I didn’t use it and instead reversed the +ve and -ve wires going into the charge controller.
