This full-color, illustrated handbook uses comic book-style panels to explain the basics of using a breadboard; then it walks you through ten fun and educational projects. You'll learn-by-doing as you study the circuit diagrams and colorful drawings, working your way through each project. Bonus features include an "X-Ray" drawing of the inside of the breadboard and a guide to understanding resistor color codes. A solderless breadboard is the perfect platform for learning electronics, whether at home or in the classroom, because it can be used over and over again for different circuits. With the projects in this handbook, you will learn how to use a light sensor, a potentiometer, a diode, a 555 timer, capacitors, transistors, and more! You'll also be challenged to actively figure out what else you can do with the circuits you have built. Learn how to build the following circuits: Dark Detector LED Flasher Electric Cricket Breathing LED Banshee Siren Light Theramin Blues Organ Bike Signal Light Touch Switch Led Color Organ As you gain experience building the circuits, you'll also learn how to read schematics - the shorthand language of electronics. The glossary provides definitions and illustrations for terms that may be unfamiliar. There's no better way to learn than by making things yourself. In this booklet you won't be handed all the answers. You'll be encouraged to experiment, and you'll be asked questions that you'll have to try to answer yourself. Get started with your breadboard experiments today. Electronics is the perfect STEM subject because it touches on all the key components - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Build your technical skills with this hands-on learning course! Review: Straight Forward Breadboard - Easy to attach components to the breadboard with illustrations and explanations. Great job! Best to have studied under this handbook. Review: A great primer for breadboards - I like making and fixing things for fun, and I’ve been interested in incorporating some simple electronics in my projects for some time, but I don’t really know anything about designing and building electronic circuits. A friend recommended I take a look at this book to learn a bit about how simple circuits work and to help get me started making my own. This book is a very straightforward primer with easy to understand illustrations and clear, simple text. It describes how a breadboard works, how to use one, and even gives some tips and tricks to make a nicer circuit. The book shows how to use a breadboard in a project based format with 10 step-by-step projects ranging from very simple to fairly complex (at least as far as my skill level is concerned) with very clear instructions and easy to understand illustrations. It includes a glossary, a handy chart for reading resistors, and some blank pages for notes. A table of contents would have been nice, but it is so easy to find things it isn’t a major complaint. After reading through this, I’m really looking forward to getting a breadboard some components to try the projects out!

Great intro
This is a great intro to breadboarding, with 10 simple circuits for first-timers to whet their appetites for electronics. I'm looking forward to working through some of these circuits with my son! Note: Parts sold separately.

If you don’t know what to do with it don’t buy it.
There’s no directions, no projects it’s totally useless if you’re a novice trying to learn electronics.

Good information but…
The information is good, but don’t expect to read this on a handheld device. It works well on a large screen, but on a small one it is almost useless. Even increasing the font size won’t work. It’s more a book of pictures, and difficult to read text.

Misleading
You would think the authors of this book would have enough sense to realize that purchasers of this would have little knowledge of circuits or wouldn't have a need for the book; and therefore they would start out with simple series and parallel circuits to introduce the reader to using a breadboard. You can find better information on the internet.

Helps you really understand what is going on in a schematic
Fantastic little book. I bought this together with a couple of Charles Platt books. The beauty of this book is that it turns schematics into breadboard diagrams in really simple steps, so it helps you really understand what is going on in the schematic. Interesting little projects that get you thinking too. Thoroughly recommend for beginning electronics, but also check out the Platt 'Easy Electronics' book (which is a similar format) and then his larger book make: Electronic (2nd edition).
