This device is useless for learning to play guitar
This device is something that sounds good, but it in no way lives up to its premise. To begin, the manufacture is poor. It's a block of cheap wood with five frets and cheap strings attached to hex nuts at one end. The back of the neck is too shallow to mimic a real guitar neck. There is no way to "tune" the strings; the best you can do is tighten them to a close approximation of what tuned strings might feel like. But because they only stretch for ten inches or so, there is no "action," the strings are dead, they don't flex like real guitar strings. In fact, the strings are quite pointless. At its BEST this devoice might let you practice placement of your fingers along the frets. Practically, you would do better using a piece of paper with frets and strings drawn on it. Further, there is no weight to the device so it feels nothing like a real guitar in your hand, so you don't get any practice with wrist, thumb, or finger positioning, all of which depend on that fact that the neck of a guitar is supported by the body in your lap. It's completely useless.

people giving bad reviews because it "sounds" bad need to read before ...
its a little flimsy but for the price you cant ask for too much i guess... people giving bad reviews because it "sounds" bad need to read before buying things lol... this is not suposed to make sound, its for you to practice chord positions and transitions.... dont give a bad review just because your expectation was unreal.

I enjoy winding down by practicing the guitar
Fellow guitar enthusiasts,My husband got this little contraption for me because while he enjoys winding down at night by watching a tv show with me, I enjoy winding down by practicing the guitar. I had just decided to practice other times because it didn't really work for us to do both at the same time. Now I can practice while we watch a show together and neither of us are disturbed. Win-Win. This was also very handy to have to continue practicing while my guitar was getting repaired.I read another review that said that if you're going to get one of these, get one with 6 frets... And now that I have one, that makes total sense. I have no idea why you would get one with 4. The reason why I removed one star is because the low E string is loose. I even had my dad look at it to try to tighten it from the back and it wouldn't tighten. Annoying, but still very useable.Otherwise for the price I am happy with it. It slides fairly nicely and doesn't get caught or stuck... I mean, there's some friction, it's not by any means a smooth glide, but it works fine. It comes with a beautiful blue case and even fits in my small purse.Happy trails!

Not worth the money - even if it is free
The strings on this were very loose. Tightened them up with an Allen wrench, which made it feel more like a guitar. Maybe it is the size of this thing, but it just does not work for me. I have not figured out any exercises that make this worthwhile.

Cool gadget
Very useful

Cheap design
The whole purpose for this is to practice chords and such, but even this needs some string tension. The strings are attached to a screw that has a hole drilled it. It does come with an Allen wrench to tighten the strings but as soon as you press down on a string the screw just simply loosens back up.
