Dinosaurium (Welcome To The Museum)

I bought this for a dino-crazed kid who has a lot of other dinosaur books already. I wouldn't recommend this book as a main dionsaur reference, but I highly recommend it as an adjunct to your dinosaur library. It has beautiful illustrations, with tons of information, including a lot that you don't often see in other books. It is the best children's book I have found for explaining in detail how dinosaurs are related to one another/how they are classified. It's huge and kind of non-portable, but that just enhances its appeal in may ways.

This book is huge! The illustrations are beautiful. The images are labeled as plates, and you can find a description for each plate. My dinosaur crazy son loves this book. It does use standard dating terminology, dating dinosaurs millions of years old. That might bother some people, but it seems to come standard with dinosaur things. My four year old calls this his museum book. He loves it.

This series is really like going to the museum. They are beautifully bound books with impressive art. They also are a rather large book. But that just adds to their beauty. A real display piece. We got these for homeschool and they will be perfect. The dinosaur art and information is great and will be referenced for years.

My son loves these series of books and I absolutely adore them. The illustrations are beautiful and the text is interesting. I enjoy reading these with my son, and even on my own. They are that beautiful and entertaining. My 4 year old loves dinosaurs and this is a great addition to his book collection.

A beautifully illustrated book. I saw this while visiting my local library with my children and knew at once I had to have it. The artwork is amazing, and obviously done by a master in the style of linocut/ woodblock technique. Gorgeous! Excellent price. I highly recommend!

My grandson is at the age where dinos are king. He draws them, acts like them, watches TV about them...I gave him this book, and he was thrilled. As soon as he tore the wrapping off, he shouted. This book hasn't disappointed. This series of books is well-done, anyway.

Book art is outstanding (not overwhelming but not “childish” either) to go along with detailed analysis of the Dinos. We like how it is broken down by period then Dino family. Checked it out initially from library and our kids enjoyed it and we wanted a good Dino analysis book for them to learn through.

I'm a huge fan of Christopher Wormell! And he does not disappoint with his latest book. This one might just be his masterpiece. I really bought it for the artwork. But it's just as awesome for the writing. This book is very readable and carefully laid out. I'm planning to buy more copies as this will be my new favorite Christmas gift and birthday gift to share.

I’m lucky enough to have all of the books in the ‘welcome to the museum’ series and this is one of the very, very best. The book, like the others, is large, beautifully illustrated & is a pure joy to read.The quality of the paper is outstanding & the presentation is spot-on! Lovely pictures for younger readers & enough detail for those of us in our 40’s who love dinosaurs.As a teacher - I’m absolutely convinced that if school textbooks were written, presented & organised with such craftsmanship-style care & attention then we could ‘hook’ kids to the wonder of books, reading & learning.I’m out of superlatives for this book! It truly is a treasure & a joy to read.Cosy-up on the sofa, open this book and you’re guaranteed the perfect evening. Why any person would choose to watch TV or play computer games rather than read a glorious book like this is (absolutely) beyond me.I’m trying not to repeat myself but if we could get kids to read books such as this one (and the others in the series) I’m sure they would benefit! This is a delicious addition to my home library & a book I shall return to regularly. This is more than just a book; it’s an ‘experience’ - second only to actually going to the natural history museum itselfIf you buy a copy of this book then for less than £20 you’ve got access to your own wonderfully illustrated Dino-museum!It truly is a joy to own.In addition, the other books in the series are just a good.

What a beautiful book! On looks alone this book gets 5*. A beautiful hard cover with illustrated dinosaurs and gold embossed lettering. The book is very large - I have attached a photo next to a standard book for reference of how big it is. Inside does not disappoint, it groups the dinosaurs into families and then illustrates and describes each one. It is fascinating, also includes relevant non-dinosaurs and information about extinction and most helpful of all is the detailed index at the end, so you can also ‘dip in’ to the book for information. Absolutely love it - so pleased I bought this for my son. I will definitely be looking in to the ‘Welcome to the museum’ series.

Dinosaurium presents itself as a walk through a dinosaur museum, and is arranged correspondingly.It starts out with a branching tree (cladogram) showing the current understanding of dinosaur species' ancestries.Then each of three periods of dinosaur evolution are covered chronologically, with an example of what fauna probably looked like in each, and a description of the mass extictions that punctuate each age.The book concludes with a look at some animals generally thought of as dinosaurs but which are not in the dinosaur family.Illustrations throughout are detailed and capture the imagination. All the popular dinosaurs are included along with plenty of lesser known species. Descriptions are detailed enough that all but the most knowledgeable dinosaur enthusaists will learn something interesting.Highly recommended.

Brilliant book, I am considering buying the rest of their series before they disappear.Well illustrated and informative. I bought this to talk to my children about dinosaurs and ended up reading it myself.

This book is very informative, with the most beautiful artwork throughout. I've bought a few of these books now, all different topics. Makes learning fun and interesting. Hard enough to challenge young minds, with lots of detail. But also easy enough that they don't feel overwhelmed or bored by the enormity of the topic. There is so much interesting information that isn't padded out by waffle to make a really lovely book that captures the interest of all ages. A great purchase.
