I love this stuff!
How I wish I'd discovered this before ever using hard wax oil. This is 10 times better than anything I've ever used before. It goes on easily, no horrendous vapours filling the house or garage while I'm using it, dries beautifully and brings out the grain of the wood unlike anything else.I was all set to use their top oil and saw reviewers mentioning coats of this first and decided I should listen and do it myself. So glad I did.It absorbs into the wood, so you do need to make sure you have bare wood to begin with. If there's any previous surface treatment it will stop the absorption. The number of coats you apply will depend on the absorbency of the particle wood but the recommendation is that one coat is normally all you need. Allow 24-36 hours at least between coats, and ensure that you never use only this product. You must always use a top coat finish on top of this. Top oil would be the norm for things like worktops, and it must be applied within 7 days of the last protector coat.Beautiful product and as the coverage is excellent, also great value for money.

Speedy delivery and great product
A big thanks for the very speedy delivery! This is a great primer to go under the topoil. You need to be aware though that this product makes the wood darker than the topoil clear matte. I had planned to only use the wood protector on one of worktops which goes next to the sink. So I applied topoil to the upstands and one worktop and applied the wood protector to the other one. I suddenly had 2 very different colours. I had to sand the topoil of. First with 80 grit and then 120 grit. Then I applied the wood protector and now I have everything in the same shade. It is recommended to do the undersides as well if they are not fitted yet. There are lots of people on YouTube now applying this product with a pad but the manufacturer wants you to apply it with a brush and wipe of the excess with s cloth at the end. That way the correct saturation of the wood is guaranteed. Same goes for the topoil. These tops are light coloured oak. I like this darker richer shade they turned through the wood protector. If you really don't want any darkening then you can only use the topoil clear matte.

Goes a long way
Really liked this product - the ingredients are all natural oils so no nasty vapours or residual smells. It’s meant for untreated wood or wood which has been sanded back as the oils penetrate the fibres and essentially waterproof deep into the grain. We used this on an untreated piece of oak countertop prior to using the Osmo top oil which finally seals and finishes the whole item you’re treating. Would recommend and would buy again although I think the tin will last quite a time - it’s small but the nature of oil means you don’t need much.

Absolutely beautiful stuff!
After reading A LOT of reviews, I finally decided to take the plunge and and use the wood protector on my new untreated oak work tops. Initial concerns were that they would go too dark, however, I am overjoyed with the results. Yes they went darker than with just top oil but... What a result. They look stunning, at the risk of being gushy, it was a pleasure to apply and the end look is way better than I could have hoped. I did 2 coats wood protector and 2 coats of top oil, they are completely water repellent, I did various tests on my off cuts to see how long water could sit- this stuff is blummin good! They look rich and the character of the wood really shows, but they are Matt and not shiny. Really happy and will continue to wave my Osmo flag till the cows come home. Happy oiling folks!

Happy with the results
You need this with the other Osmo Floor product. Works well and good colour. Only issue I would say is that the floor is a bit slippery with socks on, hoping this will reduce with time.

Great product but only use on previously unoiled surfaces
I've just finished using this on brand new untreated kitchen worktops. I was a bit unsure whether to just use the top coat by itself due to a number of other reviews saying it caused problems when applying the top coat onto it etc but it has turned out great! I can only assume that the problems occur when people don't follow the instructions properly I.e. either applying it to wood thats already been treated/oiled (as it says on the tin not to apply on top of previously oiled surfaces), top coat applied longer than 7 days after primer (again it says on the tin for top coat to be applied within 7 days) or if additional coats have been applied without leaving the required lenth of time in between. Whichever, as long as you use this on new unoiled wood and follow the instructions it looks fab. It does darken the wood but I anticipated that when buying the very light coloured worktop and liked the rich colour it gave to it. It really enhanced it and brought out the grain. I cant comment yet about longevity, protection etc but very pleased with results so far and wanted to clarify the confusion re using primer and top coat as highlighted in other reviews. Photo is of newly treated worktop with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of top coat.

A life saver!!
I had this unit made for me and they had used the standard Osmo Oil to protect it, unfortunately that is just water resistant and not water proof, therefore staining and drip mark started to appear. One call to Osmo and they advised a course of action which included stripping back and using this product. I could have had an expensive solid oak unit that wasn't fit for purpose but thanks to Osmo Wood protector, it now repels that water and is good for many years to come! Please note that is you are going to use this product, leave yourself a good few days for drying time and reapplication as once applied can take 24-36 hours to dry before reapplying or adding Osmo oil to finish.

Best protector treatment for oak kitchen worktops!
Having never had wooden worktops before, I was worried about how to protect them properly in a busy home. I read loads of great reviews and went for OSMO wood protector, I put on 2 coats plus 2 coats of OSMO Top Oil, and I'm extremely happy with the results! Our kitchen fitter who has always used Danish oil was so impressed with how easy it was to use and how good the results are that he is going to be using OSMO on all his jobs from now on! Couldn't be happier, a superb product which goes a hell of a long way!

Hochwertiges Produkt
