A game that will go down in history...
I've been gaming for years now, and never have I experienced anything like Life is Strange. Before I talk about the game let me talk about what you're getting in this edition. As well as the game you get an art book showing the amazing skills of the artists who worked on the game, a directors commentary (which I have yet to utilize, perhaps on my second play through), and a CD version of the soundtrack/original score, which I'll talk about in more detail. On to the game it self. To put it bluntly it is phenomenal. Dontnod Entertainment have crafted an amazing story that will make you laugh, cry, feel tense and unsettled, all without rarely leaving the perspective of the main character. The location of the story 'Arcadia Bay' feel lived in and alive. From Blackwell to the junkyard and beyond you'll want to explore this town, which is a good thing given the insane amount of detail the developers have put into each location. Of course there wouldn't be a world without characters. Everyone from the main characters to minor ones feel like they have some story to tell, and if you listen, you may just learn a thing or two about them or the location. To complement this is an amazing soundtrack and original score that fits the mood perfectly. The OS, composed by Jonathan Morali helps to set the scene, whether it be waking up in the morning or being chased at night. Coupled with this are 14 licensed tracks from artists such as Alt-J, José González and Bright Eyes. Their use has to be some of the best examples of licensed music used in games. My only gripe from an artistic standpoint is that there a a few flat looking textures and a choice in the game which I thought disregarded some of the previous ones made, non of which were deal-breakers.There's not much to say about gameplay; it plays like most episodic graphic adventure games with one interesting alteration. The main character has the ability to rewind time. This is interesting as it acts as an almost safety net, allowing the player to reverse and change some decisions, like doing a puzzle in a different set of steps, or trying a different dialogue approach because the previous one went badly wrong. There are a few times when you wont be able to reverse your decision, helping with replayability, but these decisions are few and far between (there's a few per episode). The only thing I can say against the gameplay is that sometimes it crawls to a snails pace, especially when you don't know where to go or what to look for. There's also a few problems with lip syncing but again, nothing deal breaking.Any small problem I have with this game is minor and is outweighed by the many things Dontnod Entertainment did right. From the unique gameplay angle to the beautiful setting, soundtrack, story and character, Life is Strange excels in these. If you, like believe that games can be an art, then this is a must have for your collection.

Life is Strange special edition PS4
Hello and welcome to my review of life is strange special edition for the PS4. I'd like to start by saying that I really enjoyed this edition of the game very much and am happy to recommend it to anyone who is thinking about playing it. This is the physical version of the very popular and successful sleeper hit game that was originally dowloadable content only, which was released across five separate episodes throughout 2015. It's a clever point and click game that is similar to the famous Telltale games like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The Wolf Among Us and Minecraft Story Mode to name but a few ( all of which are available right here on Amazon Prime ). Without spoiling they game too much, I will say that unlike other games from the genre, Life is Strange has a gaming mechanic which helps it to stand out from there crowd making it truly unique. We get to play as Max Caulfield, a young photography student at Blackwell High who has a mysterious power/gift that allows her to lots of amazing things like saving lives. This well presented special edition appears to have been very well thoughtfully put together with some excellent content. They game itself is presented on a blu-ray disc inside a blue plastic Amray case complete with cover art and a Square Enix registration forms that allows one to become an exclusive member. By the way, the game has been rated PEGI 16 for vioke, bad language and drugs. On the disc itself, all five original episodes along with additional content in the form of s rather interesting and insightful director's commentary can be enjoyed. This extra was easily be highlight for me personally I hope that a much needed trend has been set in the gaming industry. It was really nice to see the team who put together this interesting story share their thoughts and wisdom of the creative processes involved. After a short install of 14.88 GB, the game started up with a noticeable black border around the edges of the screen. This was due to the display settings on my Sony PS4 not being correct and was easil put right by going into the PS4 settings menu, then selecting the sound and screen option, followed by the display area settings option, which allowed me to adjust the area to fit the TV display. Please note that I needed to reset the game for this change in settings to register and the borders to dissappear. Once this minor adjustment had been made, I was able to enjoy the crisp visuals of the game, which have been achieved using the Unreal engine, similar to 2015's Ether One, which is also available on the Sony PS4. Similar to Ether One, Life is Strange is a single player adventure but I must say I personally enjoyed Life is Strange the most our of the two. The game has a hand drawn / painted appearance which was refreshing to look at for multiple hours of gaming and felt like the right choice for this style of game. I noticed a very solid frame rate which was smooth with no visible tearing or texture popping to distract the flow of the game play using hdmi 2.0on a 4k oled LG display. Audio was equally solid and translated very well through my TDK surround sound system once again using the hdmi 2.0 to create a great level of immersion that truly enhanced the time I spent in Arcadia Bay ( equally good sound was present when using the Sony PS4 surround sound Bluetooth headset ).Also worthy of mention for all of the trophy hunters out there's like myself, is the fact that this game has a lot of fun trophies to earn. With a personal estimate of 1/10 difficulty, we get to earn 59 bronze, 1 gold and 1 shiny new platinum trophy (all of which can be earned during online or offline play). Using the games superb collectibles mode at the end of each episode really makes getting the missed trophies both fun and easy.Motion to the extra content, we are presented with an excellent sound track which is also in keeping with the physical media theme and on a CD complete in its own case with inlay card ( unfortunately the PS4 can not play CDs, but fortunately for me my PS3 could). Pleasant, cheery, breezy are a few of the words that came to mind when listening to the soundtrack which I fully enjoyed. Finale have a nice little art book that is designed like the notebook that the lead protagonist uses throughout the story. The very same notebook that we get to accepted playing the game by tapping the dualshock 4 touch pad, which was another nice collectible for the special edition of the game. The art book has a hardback cover housing nice glossy pages giving it a premium feel.Overall Life is Strange for the Sony PS4 is in my humble opinion an essential purchase. Providing upto and over 30 hours of quality gaming( depending on the gaming style used) with eye catching visuals, immersion audio and a friendly trophy list plus all of the extra content we have an altogether worthwhile gaming experience that is very well optimised for the Sony PS4 and truly deserving of our time. P.s. Amazon Prime once again provided speedy delivery which was much appreciated and a service that quite frankly has to be taken advantage of. Also there packaging was excellent as usual in the form of sturdy, biodegradable and easy to recycle cardboard. A big thank you to all parties involved for a great experience. Until next time peace, love and respect to all ;-)

Fantastico
