Petnap 30" x 30" Disposable Whelping Box

I chose this whelping box as we only plan to have one litter of puppies with our cocker spaniel dog; I chose it because it was cheaper and disposable. It was however completely the right choice and I found it preferable to wood or plastic for the following reasons. The box is very sturdy and when erected has three layers of thick cardboad on the base which provides the puppies with insulation from the cold floor. The top layer has a water proof coating applied aswell. I placed a folded fleece blanket on the base and then put a 3ft square vet bed over the top. This provides some cushioning if Mum accidentaly lays on one of her babies (although I am always nearby to intervene if necessary). If a puppy lays against the side of the box, the sides do not strike cold or hard (like plastic or wood) but are warm and slightly flexible if a puppy lays against them, which mine frequently do. This box is 36" x 36" and is the perfect size for my cocker spaniel to lay stretched out with her nine puppies. I am so pleased I chose this box, as it is perfect.

My dog unexpectedly had puppies. ( long story) so we wasn’t prepared, I came on here& found this whelping box for a very affordable price, didn’t think it was true & when it came I was amazed at how strong the cardboard is&how strong the rails are. I went with a 48X48 & it’s the perfect size for my Staffie X bullmastiff & her six puppies. We didn’t use the rails as we didn’t need to. We had to cut down the sides for my dog but they are back up now and it still looks perfect& is still very strong. We put the front flap up when they are playing & that can be easily done with some tape, I highly highly recommend this whelping box. You will not be disappointed.

Easy to use, good quality

We bought this for our Stafford girl and as she had 9 pups we certainly needed this size for comfort. I found the pig rail markings a little low so we just fixed them a little higher. Also used the top and bottom of the packing box as extra lining and this has worked well and helped the box last a little longer. Good product if you are only going to have 1 litter as you just dispose of the entire mess when you have finished

Our miniature jack russell was due and we were undecided to make our own or see what a cardboard one was like. I was expecting a typical flimsy box you would get from the supermarket and because I'd left the decision to late didn't leave me with many options. Well the sturdiness of it really surprised,it took minutes to just pop the supporting dowls in then and gaffa tape on the base. To be honest I thought the dowls would get in the way. Turns out they were perfect for our dog to lean up against and even curling her tail round when pushing the pups out. Made sure we put a good layer of puppy pads in the base to soak up any fluids etc during the birthing and the replaced once she had cleaned up the pups. This kept the base of the box in perfect condition. Would recommend old towels or similar and tucking them over and under the dowls to stop any pups going rouge and getting trapped behind. She's still feeding and looking after them now and it's day 5 and the box is in pristine condition, minus the flap at the front which you can trim off to suit. Really happy with it and once finished with I can lightly disinfect and keep for another use if necessary.

I bought this for my Labrador bitch. I had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it was nice and spacious and clean but it didn't stay clean for long. I put a plastic liner in the bottom because I didn't trust the cardboard to cope with all the liquids of whelping. The main problem with it was the location of the puppy rails. They are not safe. I had to stuff some vetbed into the corners to stop puppies becoming trapped. Because of the flexible cardboard construction the rails also went up or down again trapping pups. I wouldn't buy it again.

Did the job, cheaper than a reusable one and I cut it down to adapt as the puppies gre and expended into the pen! I is now a sleeping corner in a bigger pen! Seems expensive for a cardboard box but the rails are great and it’s pretty sturdy! Lined with puppy pads and get bed it has stood up to all the pups could throw at it!

Perfect whelping box. This is the third one we have bought - one per litter - and it is strong enough to last the 8 weeks of puppy presence and easy to modify as the puppies get bigger. The pig rails are vital - no squashed puppies. And at the end it can be recycled so no enviro cost.
