Good Product
I've seen and bought those really cheap ones in auto parts stores, and I was kind of expecting this to be the same - thin wire, cheap construction, and so on. But what I got surprised me. Pleasantly. This is a nice sturdy little tester. It will very likely last me years.

Nice product!
I bought this to test the defrost lines on my car. Sadly they are destroyed. But all the fuses are fine! Worked really well and lit properly. No issues.

Old-school style, with modern LED function.
As an auto mechanic way back in the 1970s, I used a test light with a very similar design; that was just a bulb, a wire, and an alligator clip. This test light is far more useful than those old things, and sports an LCD readout instead of a bulb. This tester has a large, easy-to-read three digit display, and can purportedly read any DC voltages between 3v and 24V. It even indicates polarity using a green or red light (clamp on negative, pen tip on positive = green; clamp on positive, pen tip on negative = red).I tested its low voltage capability by testing a 1.5v AA battery. Nuttin’ at all. Then I connected two AA batteries in series to get 3v, and it partially worked. The green light came on, but I didn’t get any actual digits. I tested my 12v motorcycle battery, and it did work completely, but there was some stuttering. The display worked, and then cut out, and then worked solidly.I suspect this stuttering is due to the way it’s built, which really I don’t care for. The whole thing is literally in three separate pieces that touch each other. The design allows the tester to spin without twisting the wire, but since it’s not completely soldered together, it doesn’t seem to provide the most reliable circuit. The tip is needle sharp, and easily pokes through the jacket of most wires to test without having to cut into the wire. It’s very soft steel, so when it gets dull or bent, it’s easily sharpened using a file or some sandpaper. The handle is clear plastic, and seems fairly heavy-duty. There’s a plastic ‘spring’ on the end of the handle to keep the cord from bending too sharply and breaking. The coiled cord has a nice, thick jacket, and extends to about 5 feet if stretched out.The clamp is large enough to clip on a fat battery post, bolt head, or part of the frame. I guess that's good, but I usually find that a smaller alligator clip works better for me than a big battery lug clip. I guess it just depends on your use.Hope this helps.

So simple to use and read!
Back in the day, a tester like this lit up when you have power and didn't light up when you didn't. It is so nice to see the actual voltage to a tenth of a volt instantly. You no longer need to bring out your volt meter to do a quick simple test. The volt meter with alligator clips. Just connect the built in alligator clip and you are ready to go.
