Experiencing the Holy Spirit

The roughest part of this book is its pre-Azusa-Street-Revival usage of the term "Pentecostal" to refer to the time after the Holy Spirit, rather than the ecstatic and chaotic nonsense that passes as the "Holy Spirit" and "Pentecostal" today. Once I got past that, the book became quite revealing.

I came across Andrew Murray when I was researching materials for a workshop that I was conducting. One of the workshop modules was on the Holy Spirit. This book kicks off with a bang on page 2, asking whether Christians should merely settle for external operations of the Holy Spirit as happened under the old covenant, or whether we really desired the Pentecostal Spirit, as an in-dwelling Spirit.All Christians have been gifted the in-dwelling Holy Spirit. Through 12 chapters, Murray systematically lays out why we are not realizing the full blessings, how we can remove the hindrances, how the blessings can be strengthened and increased, and how God desires to fill us. Each chapter has key scripture references, and seeing how each verse aligns and inter-relates reinforces the intent and blessings of the indwelling Holy Spirit. There are pointed questions and prayers, so that one truly moves forward, not just in one's intellectual understanding, but one's spiritual commitment. I felt truly energized as I read and completed this book. Make no mistake, it challenges one.I started buying and reading other Murray books, which are just as spiritually impactful. This book is written in very understandable language.

This book challenged me to consider why I was seeking to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. It has taken me a while to finish this book, but it was all in God's perfect timing. Currently being in a study of the book of Revelation and the letters to the churches, Jesus promises if we repent and return to our first love He will give us the power to overcome. How relevant this message is for the time we live. The urgency of being spiritually prepared for such a time as this should compel anyone who hungers and thirst for righteousness.

Experiencing the Holy Spirit created a desire within my heart for a more intimate personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All I knew for certain was that nothing but Jesus Himself would satisfy the longing that burned in my heart. The bottom line presented in this book is that we must be absolutely surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ coupled by a renewing of the mind brought on by the Holy Spirit.

I've read a number of Andrew Murray's books and they all challenge me...Praise God! I often wondered why my Christian walk was so sporadic, almost like a rollercoaster ride. Very seldom did I experience the love and joy spoken of in the Bible. After reading this book...I'm still chewing...The obvious solution to my erratic Christian life is The Holy Spirit.

This ebook is a must read for Christians and new believer in Christ Jesus, on how to know if they have received the Holy Spirit. It also includes the importances of the Pentecost when the believers of Jesus were first given the Holy Spirit. This ebook will help teach you how to strengthen your faith, and submit your will over to God, so you can receive this greatest of all blessings. The language might be a bit dated in the text, but it won't take away from the message. I highly recommend this ebook, and if you do purchase it discuss it with your religious leaders that can give their interpretation of the meaning of the Holy Spirit. Experiencing the Holy Spirit is truly a must read. This book is life changing. Andrew Murray shares information on the clarity of experiencing and living by the Holy Spirit daily, 24/7. It is impossible to connect with Jesus if your heart is not pure and an unpure heart houses sin. Sin disconnects us from God. God MUST be our ALL and ALL in every area of our lives. After reading this book, your heart will never be the same, therefore; your life will never be the same.

Excellent book. A must read, for those who want to be more than an ordinary christian. In the old testament other nations were circumcised in the flesh to have the blessings of the Jews. Now we all need to be circumcised in the spirit to receive the blessings of the Lord. This book helps in the understanding and the leading to experiencing the Holy Spirit. I highly recommend this book.

This is a great book for those who don’t understand or yet to experience the Holy Spirit in its full entirety. Good references to scripture throughout the chapters to backup the claims and also provide some useful experiences to relate to modern life.
