Best Pillow I Have Ever Owned (with a caveat)
I purchased this pillow in September of 2018 but wanted to use the pillow and see how it held up over time before letting my initial excitement colour my review. First, I am INCREDIBLY picky when it comes to pillows. I am 6'5" / 280# and a side-sleeper. This has made finding a pillow that has a high enough profile with a dense enough material to support my head without compressing and needed to be fluffed throughout the night virtually impossible - until now. This is, by far, the best pillow I have over owned. After five months this pillow has retained it's 5-Star rating. It is fantastic. That's really all you need to know. However, I want to cover a couple of things that stand out as exceptional about this pillow: The FILL: This is, by far, the best fill I have ever seen. The "shreds" of latex are dense and responsive and those shreds are packed in a fibrous but soft poly-fill that contours and supports comfortably but never fully compresses. The customer service: I'd give 5+ stars for this if I could. As I mentioned, because I'm a tall and heavy side-sleeper, I struggle with finding a pillow that has a high enough profile that doesn't compress. When this pillow arrived the extra fill included should be WAY MORE than anyone should need BUT after a couple of weeks of use I decided that I needed a bit more and contacted customer service. I explained my situation and they sent me an extra pound of fill at no additional charge. I only needed about half of what was sent but WOW! What a difference. As I start replacing pillows in my house they will all be replaced with these. About that caveat... I have been sleeping on a 5" Dunlop Latex Mattress Core (ILD 38) for nearly 20 years and enjoy the firmness and support of latex. It does, however, take some getting used to and is not for everyone. If you've been interested in sleeping on latex this is the perfect gateway.

FINALLY I FOUND THE UNICORN OF PILLOWS
After years of searching for the perfect pillow that fits my short neck and side sleeper needs I found it!!! Seriously, tried solid foam, grated foam, My Pillow (too hot!), down like, Pancake pillow, L shaped pillow, Joy Mangano Hsn pillow, Soba, Memory Foam, 1/2 memory foam or latex & half polyester. I even created my own by combinng more than one pillow into two.Cheap or expensive, its ridiculous. Finally, Goldie Locks found one that 'Is Just Right'! The Pancake pillow was almost there but had down like polyester that ultimately was too soft for me, i felt that if there could be some structure to it, it would be a perfect pillow. So getting back to the Artisan pillow. They did combine the perfect elements of latex (not hot) and polyester down like material interwoven to make (for me) the perfect comfort. It hold your face without it turning and not being able to breath, soft enuf yet firm enough. Comfy to put my arm under it. No neck aches, tossing & turning, re scrunching the shape, no hotness. Just a solid good night's sleep. Finally. Most pillow I tried got thrown on the floor within the first hour. Not this one. I only had it a week and took it to a Hotel and forgot it. I was so upset I ordered a back up one today. I dont even want to go another night without it. Had to sleep on My Pillow last night and have a crick in my neck and a headache and sweated all night. Try this, I'd be shocked if you didnt love it. Make sure to tak some stuffng out ( I took a couple of quarts). Smell wasnt bad at all and gone after first night.

Well made and well designed, but ultimately not for me.
This pillow is well and sturdily made. The adjustability of its height and firmness through the easy removal and replacement of the fill is a good idea, and is easily accomplished. The shape might seem odd, but many side sleepers rest the hand of their ceiling-most arm on their pillow, and this shape both makes that easier and takes away some of the strain caused by that position on the wrist and elbow. But ultimately, I couldn't get used to the -- I don't know -- the pebbly feel of the pillow on the side of my face caused by the fill itself. And because I like a thinner pillow than most people do, it seems, I removed quite a bit of the fill. When I would, the pillow wouldn't be supportive enough. When I added some back, either it would return to being too high for my neck, or the ends of the pillow would rise when my head sank in and partially cover my nose unless I turned my head. After several attempts to adjust the pillow and failing, I returned it. But I really do think some people will love it because of its quality construction and versatility, so I've given it four stars.

Great for side-sleepers with neck/shoulder pain
I was searching for a pillow that would support my head, and reduce my shoulder and neck pain in the mornings, and this has done a great job! I have had it for 2 weeks now, and already I'm noticing the positive difference. I struggle with tight shoulder and neck muscles in general, and I also carry a lot of stress there (esp. in my shoulders). Every morning I would wake up and my muscles would be tight and sore. I am a side-sleeper, and regularly I'd have troubles getting comfortable and sleeping soundly with the pillows I was using. I've since discovered that the loft of both pillows I've had before were way too high for me. Since using this pillow, though, I have found the right adjustment for my body and sleeping position, and am very pleased with how comfortable it is and how much support it gives. The first two or three nights were a little rough, because I was experimenting with the loft in the pillow, but once I got it right, it has helped me sleep better and wake up relaxed and not sore. I was a bit surprised at the firmness of it (because the fill is so soft), but I'm actually really pleased with the support and comfort. I've always considered myself a "soft-pillow" person, but this has changed my mind! It doesn't make my ears sore when I sleep on one side or the other for a long time like some other pillows. Other reviewers have commented on the rubbery smell--I did notice that it smelled like balloons when it first arrived, but after tossing it in the dryer on low for 10 minutes, the smell reduced dramatically, and after a couple days it was pretty much gone. Occasionally, I get whiffs of it here and there, but it's not strong enough to bother me in the least (and I'm really sensitive to smells, esp. chemicals). I use a standard pillowcase with it, and it works great. No need to shell out extra money to find a fitted case. My advice to potential buyers: Be patient when experimenting with adjusting the loft of the pillow. The first few nights might be rough because you're still finding what works, but don't give up on this pillow! Once it's adjusted correctly for you, I think you'll find it very comfortable and effective in reducing muscle stiffness and soreness. UPDATE: 3/07/19 I am loving this pillow more and more over time! The latex smell is entirely gone now. (Not that it was bad in the first place but I am pleased that it wasn't permanent) Still no neck and shoulder pain/stiffness in the mornings--very pleased!

High Quality but Zipper Stuck
This pillow was delivered yesterday. It seems to be very nice quality and exactly what I was looking for (Which would be a 5 star rating). Upon initial sleep, it was very comfortable, however, after laying on it all night I realized it was too high for my neck and developed a headache from sleeping at an awkward angle. I tried to remove some of the filling in the morning to decrease the height a bit but found that the zipper is completely stuck shut. I tried several attempts to undo the zipper without any luck. Is there a trick to the zipper? I do not wish to apply too much force which would result in a possible tear of the material.

Best pillow ever (& I really have tried them all)!!!!
This is seriously the best pillow I’ve ever had (especially for side sleeping)!! It’s the definition of soft yet supportive & fully adjustable to your needs. I recently had cervical spinal fusion surgery & I have tried every type of pillow out there. I had almost given up when I found this. SO glad I did! I have the traditional shape one too since I have different needs depending on how I’m feeling that day & they’re both worth every penny!!! No horrible chemical smell like memory foam & no allergies flaring up like with down pillows! The organic cotton cover is wonderful! I’ll be telling ALL my friends & family about these wonderful pillows! Thank you sleep artisan for finally helping me get relief from my neck & shoulder pain & for getting a good nights rest (which has been a long time)!!!

Doesn’t support neck.
I have some issues with this pillow. First off I’m 5’9”so my neck is probably longer than some and I also have a disc problem in the cervical spine. I find this pillow, because of the cut out for your shoulder, to be narrow in the center and therefore my head keeps slipping down and my neck is not supported. The sides/ends of the pillow are great and I didn’t need to remove any of the filling. It’s a tad long for a regular size pillow case. So it doesn’t fit very well in due to the narrow size the pillow slip is bunching around it. I believe the pillow needs to be wider in general for it to work well. Sorry I missed my return window which was January 31, no I will just use as an expensive :( lumbar support. Update: don’t waste your money on this. It’s going out to the trash today. Can’t even use as a knee support due to odd shape. Note in second picture of the funny brown spots on the pillow makes it look dirty and that’s the way it was brand new.

Should be better for $100, it needs more filling and an interior case
First off I really like Sleep Artisan’s regular Queen sized Latex pillow — it’s probably the best one I’ve ever had. Plenty of latex inside for good firm support and I even love the soft washable cover. The only issue with that one is it can be a bit hot to sleep on in the Summer. Anyway, I decided to try this one to see if it would be better for my neck. But there are issues with this one which keep me from enjoying it: For one the fill level is just too low for me — there’s just not as much latex inside as I need to get a normal level of neck support. Their regular pillow has much more latex inside than this one does. Luckily I had one of their little neck roll / lumber pillows (which I never found to be useful) so I just pulled all the latex out of that one and stuffed it in this to make it nice and full. But even after doing that, I’ve just never found this to be as comfortable as I’d hoped it would be. Now, I think this could work very well for some people who sleep on their back and don’t mind the low fill level of the latex. I do try to sleep on my back sometimes, but my tendency to sleep on my side is strong, and the middle of the pillow is really only good to use for when you’re sleeping on your back. And I just find it's harder to keep my head on that little side “arm” of the pillow compared to a regular pillow. So when I use this I typically wake up at least once or twice and have to reposition my head on one of those two outer “arms" if I want to fall back asleep on my side as usual. Cleaning: unlike their regular pillow which has a very nice thick washable cover over a thin interior cover, this one lacks the interior cover holding all the latex inside. So if you take off the cover to wash it, you’ll have loose latex all over the place. Meaning you’ll need to have or buy another pillowcase to put this one in. If this only cost $50 I’d give it 3 stars, but I feel like it’s overpriced at $100 considering its flaws. So I would suggest getting their regular pillow first, then maybe trying this one…
