Great unit for DIY propane system installation
I used this to test for propane leaks on fittings for a new propane line I installed myself. I found one leak using this that I did not detect by smell on a fitting that I failed to tighten properly. I also used this to determine when I had all of the air purged out of the new line prior to connecting the line to my gas furnace. During the gas line installation I kept this detector on the floor of my basement by the work area to insure that I did not have a build-up of combustible propane gas since propane is heavier than air and would tend to settle to the floor where it would be less likely to be detected by the gas smell. This detector worked flawlessly for all three of the tests I used it for.

Very accurate
Very safe and accurate device, had the gas company come out for a leak and my device was getting the same readings as theirs.

this is an essential tool for older homes/apartments that have old pipes
A common omen follows me during the winter. This is associated with either my heat or hot water tank having issues during the coldest days/nights of the year. The past two years it has been my heat so i was bracing myself for something to go wrong with my hot water tank. The whole thing gave out just as the outside temperatures went into winter storm and ice mode. I am thankful i was prepared for this in that i did not get upset but simply accepted what was happening. For seven days and nights i went without hot water resulting in having to heat up water on the stove then behave as if i was back in the early 1900's before showers were common place.I live in an old four unit apartment building in a two bedroom unit. My landlord is in his nineties and can no longer preform the basic repairs and general maintenance the building requires. The problem for the tenants is he also does not like to spend money. Every repair has o be done by the same guy and if he is not available then it can take forever for something to get repaired. Due to the seriousness of this hot water tank situation, i had to do the work which i found comical, because i have no experience doing that kind of work. To top off the absurdity of the situation, the tank is located in a cramped space with super old and rusty gas lines. I was a bit annoyed, though not surprised when he did not even consider replacing the gas lines. I was the one who removed them and put them back together, leading to understandable nervousness on my part in relation to potential gas leaks. This is where this user friendly gas detector tool from the Aicevoos brand came into use. While searching for a gas detector tool this Aicevoos unit caught my eye because of its extension sensor. That was perfect for the super small closet that my tank is in. I already had to cut a section of the door frame out to install the new tank so navigating around that small closet was next to impossible without some sort of extension piece. The gas lines ran around the back of the new tank and that tank was 10 inches larger than the one previously in there. With this tool i was able to stand in front of the hot water tank and reach over it to access the gas lines behind it. I like how there is a slight delay in the reading of the sensor because i feel confident it is processing the contents of the air. That slight delay gives me confidence that there is a process going on that is filtering through the nearby air.The price of this is reasonable with it being under sixty dollars.I recommend this gas detection tool as i am happy with it.

Unsure about this gas detector.
Let me start by saying I've used a few combustible gas detectors in my nearly 20 years of being a gas technician so I'm familiar with the calibration and operation of said device. I put the batteries in this, calibrated it outside in fresh air, and came back into the house and immediately it detected in excess of 1000 PPM. My next step was to perform a pressure and leak test on the gas system, so out to my truck to get my manometer and manifold set up I went. When I got to the 2nd stage regulator to do the pressure and leak test I realized the gas was not even turned on to the house. I forgot I don't have the gas on anymore as everything has been converted to electric, except the generator and that doesn't get used anymore as I have solar with battery backup now. I shut off the gas detector, calibrated it outside, and went back in the house again. I still got a reading but slightly lower this time. After leaving this on in the house for approximately 15 minutes it eventually read 0 PPM. I have repeated calibration outside and come back into the house a few times now and get 0 PPM consistently now. I'm unsure why I initially got readings from this when no gas was even coming into the house, but it makes me question the accuracy of this device. Others rate this device highly so maybe I just got a defective one?

A great idea to have in an old house.
I'm not sure how to rate this, because as of now I haven't needed to use it, yet. Our house was built in 1908 and runs on gas everything. There's an extremely small pinhole in the gas safety/exhaust line, too small to need replacement. When it first occurred, the smell was so faint that no one else in my family could smell it except me & my super sniffer (I'm seriously more sensitive in that way than is typical). I thought it was leaking gas & called 911. When the fire department arrived, they couldn't detect anything on their equipment, and no one on the call could smell it, either, but they believed me when I said it was there & called for specialized help from the gas company, because their equipment is much more sensitive and that's who the fire department goes to. The gas company's equipment detected a very, very faint odor, right up against exhaust pipe (the gas company guy couldn't smell it), which let him detect exactly where it was leaking. The rubbery pipe will self seal for a period of time, then it'll leak a little for a while, and they said it's nothing to worry about (because it's overflow/exhaust from the gas pipe, not straight methane) unless it were to crack wide open and then pose a risk (there's so little it wouldn't be possible for it to burn or explode). When I saw this tool I knew it would be a good idea for me to have it around, for the next time the pipe gets leaky, but I haven't actually needed to use it, yet, since it arrived. I love the idea of it, and having it makes me feel like I'm better equipped (no pun intended) the next time I can start smelling something and no one else can, to give me some information before I call for help.

Una bella scoperta...
The media could not be loaded.

Safety on hand when you need it.
The media could not be loaded. I am not a gas engineer and this is my first gas sensor. This device is well packaged and presented in a durable box. The kit contains the sensor unit, rechargeable battery, USB A to Micro USB charging cable and clear easy English instructions. It is very easy to use, power up, allow it to self calibrate to ambient air and then place the probe where gas is smelt or the suspected leak. The digital read out will start to give a visual indication whilst the alarm will then give the audible alert. In my video demonstration I used butane lighter fuel but the unit detects other gases too.I am very pleased with this device and it is reassuring to own one for those moments when you think you can smell gas but are not certain, and for use after any completed works. My only negative is that like most products it does not come with a charging plug.Unless over time reliability proves otherwise I'm 5 starring this product.

Handy easy to use Gas detector
This device is very easy to use and will offer peace of mind that gas pipes and fittings are secure and safe. The supplied manual is sufficient to set up the device, including information on setting the alarm thresholds. There is even a chart showing to various levels of gas, and their lower combustibility limits.A few anomalies were noticed however. The instructions mention turning off the backlight to preserve power, but the instruction leaflet doesn't mention how to do this. I've pressed many buttons, but still haven't work out how to do this. Also mentioned in the leaflet is the supplied protective cap for the sensor, but there was no cap supplied and the packaging details don't actually specify that there should be one.A detail not mentioned in the User leaflet is that a long press on the 'unit' key will toggle the device from LEL percentage reading to ppm reading (parts per million). Further examination revealed that the alarm settings need to be set for each mode. The LCD display only has five digits, meaning the maximum ppm that can be entered is 99,999 equivalent to only 10%.I tested this and it does work, but as it's not a published feature the ppm facility has little bearing for this product.Unlike most modern equipment, the charging lead is USB-micro, not USB-C. so it only fits one way.The temperature reading can be a bit confusing too. It tends to creep up over time. It's not reading ambient room temperature, it's measuring the temperature at the sensing head, which will change because it is heated. The manual quotes it as "Environment temperature and Humidity"This is a very good, easy to use, Gas detector. It is especially suited to the non-professional who simply require an audible alarm as an indication.
