Second item I've bought from Brass Monkeys. I love them
A thousand times better than Smartwool, so much better made. They don't offer the same lifetime replacement as far as I'm aware, which is a shame, but they're warm, fit well and don't feel like they'll fall apart quickly (all my experience with Smartwool). I'll be buying more!

Decent
Wear it in the military in the field. Keeps me alot more warm than synthetic trash I've worn. Cutting around wood blocks at night has been less uncomfortable.

Nice Base Layer
I bought this for my husband who wears a size medium, It's a nice quality merino wool base layer. he said it wasn't as warm as his other merino one but that cost a lot more so I think it's reasonably good for the price.

short arm length for taller people for medium size
garment medium size 38-40" chest definitely has short arm length for taller people, the tight cuff (which should be a benefit for this item) , lets you feel this short arm length by sitting higher on the arm, tighter than it should, which would feel different to you when worn.In use for cycling, with stretched out arms , the shorter arm length surprisingly was not felt and the extra 210 merino weight came into its own on a 5 degrees ride,, feeling the garment you could feel the trapped heat within the garment, this benefit outweighed the arm issue which might even have reduced cold air flow up arms. This garment is a tighter fit for 40" chest, (designed this way), I hope it does not shrink when washed, It does not itch, feels great, neck issue raised by some is there, it sometimes just does always sit the same as other quality base layers, pulling down front seems to fix neckline, medium chest persons do not normally have body builders neck. although the neck size is ok,with the short arms I immediately ordered the always long armed medium Rohan 150 merino base layer at the same price, this product was 40% polyester and comparison of products showed the brass monkey bass layer would always be considerably warmer, Concluding, this amazon purchase has worked out with the the perfect result, The longer arms of the Rohan (not cuffed), and its more relaxed fit at medium size, gives me the combination of of 360 grams of merino base layer when worn together, the sizing and cuffs of both garments acting perfectly together, roll on that colder weather

Well made, warm comfortable product
Dispatched and arrived in a matter of days. Really good well made garment that definitely works when used as a base layer. Layered it with a couple of other layers and then my coat and never felt a thing in minus 12 cold snap. Could if you wanted just wear it as a top as it looks good and fits very well. I am 6 ft tall and slim athletic build and the small fits me like a glove. Merino is definitely the way to go for layering and would definitely recommend this garment and product.

Hmmmm
So I recently started buying Mons Royal yotei base layers which are phenomenal merino garments. I enjoyed sleeping in one so much I thought I should find a cheaper merino alternative for bed time use.Firstly, im a 18 stone / 120kg man, about 6' / 2m tall, so broad but not enormous. The 3XL is just about a serviceable size. The sleeves have nothing spare and ride up a little, tolerable for bed but for outdoors or fashion use perhaps unacceptable. I have a 46" chest and the neck seam runs a bit low and the tails ride a bit high. I can tuck it in, but its not the reliable overlap on the Mons Royal, which is £100 or thereabouts for comparison.Secondly, Im not convinced by the 215g/m2 if thats what they mean in the blurb. My several Mons shirts all claim 170-200 g/m2 and they all feel thicker than this. To give an example I can sit in my living room in the Mons whether heated or un heated comfortably watching tv. In this one i do feel drafts, so wear a cardigan. Its clearly a more budget version of the Mons, and to be fair its nearly half the price. Im sure it will function admirably as a base layer compared to polyester alternatives, but just dont expect supreme technical performance that you might get from a £100 alternative.
