Style Name:Hyperion 17 mm eyepiece Product Description Modular dual 31.7mm/50.8mm 68 degree widefield eyepieces that performs as well as eyepieces three times its price. Each Hyperion is supplied with a soft leather storage bag for safe keeping, and two dust caps for storing the eyepiece with either the rubber eyeguard either folded up or down! The Hyperion design has has both a 31.7mm (1 1/4") and 50.8mm (2") barrel for fitting into either size focuser or diagonal. Both barrel sizes have a safety groove for safe use in your telescope. Each Hyperion features Baader's PHANTOM-GROUP Multi-Coatings for maximum light transmission and the ultimate in image contrast. There are two photographic threads on each Hyperion, M43 and SP54. These threads are located under the rubber eye-cap, or rather beneath the thread protecting ring which is made of high-quality and aging-resistant silicone rubber.A variety of focal lengths can be obtained from each Hyperion. A second focal length is easily acheived by removing the first group of lenses. Additional FL can then be acheived by purchasing a 14mm Fine Tuning Ring (FTR), 28mm FTR, combining the 14mm and 28mm FTR, and with 2" Baader Filter (height 8mm).The effective FL of the 17mm eyepiece is as follows:With 14mm FTR: 13.1mmWith 28mm FTR: 10.8mmCombined FTR: 9.2mm2" Baader filter: 14.6mmRemoving first group of lenses: 21.8mmThe Hyperion can be combined with a Baader adaptor ring to mount a camera directly onto the eyepiece. In addition, there are a large number of Baader adapting rings and fittings to make the Hyperion suitable for (almost) every task in astronomical - and nature - photography as a high quality projection optic or as a tele-extender. The Hyperions work as well for photographic applications as they do for visual use. Box Contains Hyperion 17mm EyepieceSoft Leather CaseTwo Dust Caps

Excellent eyepieces, and a bargain in the kit with the case.
I purchased these from Amazon.de for about £425. Each EP is boxed as an individual retail item which is fantastic; if like me you already own one or more and will sell-on the equivalent new EP. Considering each EP retails at between £80 & £90 and you get the case which is really handy for storage (which normally retails around £50) this is a great deal.I already had the 21mm EP and was really impressed with the image quality on a celestron 9.25 SCT. With the poor weather I've only been able to try them once so far, but have been really pleased with theThese clearly aren't TV Delos league, but they are a fraction of the price. I doubt I'll use them all; specifically the 5mm as that's probably a bit over the top for UK viewing conditions. The 13 mm and 10 mm EPs gave a very clear image; and I'm looking forward to trying the others. In the picture of the case I've attached I have the optional tuning rings which you won't need with this set (there's no need for such levels of adjustment).

Nice!
Lovely eyepieces giving full bright views. Each is 'modular', so you get double the amount of eyepieces except the larger one. 5mm is as usable as the rest, even when Barlowed! Threaded tops mean they can be fitted to the DSLR with the required T adapter. They come in a large foam lined case - very nice!

Excellent eyepiece when used on a Zeiss Diascope telescope
Excellent eyepiece when used on a Zeiss Diascope telescope. My impression is that it is a little sharper with slightly wider field of view than the Zeiss zoom eyepiece. It is easier to use if one where's eyeglasses. Good robust construction. Chromatic aberrations are hardly noticeable used as an eyepiece but are significant when coupling to a camera. Better to use the Zeiss adapter for photographic purposes. The mount rather than the FTR joint undid initially. It's a narrow diameter and therefore subject to greater force. Obviously not done up as tightly as it should be or not locked correctly.

fantastic.
excellent product.high optics - blown away with views of the planets like juipter which now i could see its gas clouds and other stars.views of the moon excellent, very crisp and without any fuzz. craters are all clearly seen.eyepiece is a little tricky to set up and move via telescope allignment. eyepiece also needs good conditions but so long as clear skies eyepiece is still flawlessevery penny spent on this was worth it.

I wrongly ordered an 8mm by mistake-but i am very glad i did
A young friend of mine let me use his 5mm and 10mm Baader units.I thought they were first class. I wrongly ordered an 8mm bymistake-but i am very glad i did. These lenses are such a clever design--i call them the LEGO OF EYE-PIECES. A couple of moronson some sight i came across had the usual moan-even down to the packaging. I found nothing to moan at,the lens at 8mm has a bright-sharp focus on my big optical machine. I can*t wait for Jupiter to come around later on in the year. It has the largest eye-lens i have seen on such a power lens. The apparent field does seem wider than 68 degrees. LEGO take the achromat out of the lens endand magically,it becomes about 22mm focus. The Andromeda M31 spread right across the field-and did seem brighter than all theother lenses i have. It was a sight to see--very diffuse and ghostly. To sum up--great service from Germany via Amazon--great price-delivery time--quality--i am very happy with the 8mm,and whenfinances allow-i will probably try to end up with the whole set. That would be good. Hope this helps any thinking about a future buycheers for now---Garreth

This is a very high quality eye-piece. It weighs ...
This is a very high quality eye-piece.It weighs a lot so it will mess with the balance of your scope a little but the optical quality is stunning. Not really for beginners.
