An incredibly simple way to make working at height safer
Firstly, this device alone will not make you safer, you need a fixing point such as an anchor bolt with D-ring. Once you have that point you loop the straps through the ladder uprights on either side and ratchet up the tension on the straps until the ladder is fixed at that angle and it will not move backwards on you so you can work at much more comfortable angles certain in the knowledge the ladder won't slip backwards under you. And if you have a modern ladder with a wide stabilizer bar at the base you have a very strong resistance to sideways movement. It's a revelation. Add a cows-tail safety strap and you can work two-handed at height and maintain 3 points of contact. Jobs I would previously have only undertaken with a MEWP I now happily do on a 3 x 3m extension ladder. You do need to make sure you get the right size strap. Too short and you cannot lean a long ladder against a wall at a comfortable angle, too long and you end up with meters and meters of strap lying on the ground.Bottom line, I won't go up a ladder without one of these now.
