There are really only two things that make or break a journal: how durable is it, and how is the paper?The paper feels amazing. Slightly smooth texture, almost satiny; solid weight; it's a pleasure to write on. If you're familiar with Giuris paper, it feels a lot like that, but it's slightly lighter and creamier. As far as durability, so far it feels solid: the stitching is excellent, and the magnetic clasp means there are no small parts on the outside to fall off or become damaged.There are also a lot of small details on this journal that are not obvious at a quick glance. It has a table of contents and pre-printed page numbers (my new favorite journal feature!). The colors of the two bookmarks match the two tones of the leather. The magnetic clasp features an inlaid image of North America, which gives a nice point of interest on an otherwise subdued journal. It took me longer than I care to admit to pick up that the two-tone accent on the front cover was actually a pocket (!). Dang, that's cool! (Yes, I know the product description mentions it. There was a substantial delay between reading the description and actually holding the item in hand. Shush.) There's no pen loop, but you can clip your average pen onto the magnetic clasp for much the same effect.Overall, this journal is an unexpected gem, and once I'd tried it I ended up buying extras in other colors.

I bought this to keep up with maintenance records and keep it in the door of my truck. It’s rigged and seems like it will outlast a Regular notepad by years. I liked the bright color so it’s easily spotted. Good quality.I’m not being paid nor compensated for my honest review.

My choosing this journal was driven by a desire to do more writing by hand. I wanted a nice journal for writing that I could either use for keeping a personal record. I like this journal and likely will buy more of them in the near future. It is reasonably priced and it is made well.This journal is too big to fit in a pocket but is appreciably smaller than a legal pad or regular composition notebook. It has numbered pages, up to 188, as well as a small table of contents that can be filled in – very unusual features for an inexpensive journal like this. It also has two pockets, one on the outside and one on the inside, for holding small papers and receipts. Finally, it has a magnetic clasp to keep it closed, though I will say that it is not a strong magnet and it’s likely not to hold if the journal is dropped from desk height and it lands the wrong way.A real surprise to me was the inclusion of a set of adhesive flag markers for marking pages. The product description mentions these but not in those terms and certainly not prominently, and as such this was a very pleasant surprise when I found them in the inside pocket. There are also two ribbon markers, another useful feature that I missed when first reading the description.The outer material is a faux leather that has a nice feel to it and it looks nice. It is very definitely not real leather, and most will recognize it as synthetic material at a glance. That said, it’s nicer than just a hardcover binding or vinyl, and real leather (or more upscale synthetic material) would drive up the price.If I could make one change to this journal, I would add a pen holder loop. That’s always a nice-to-have but it’s not a requirement.This journal is very reasonably priced at $11 as I write this.I am very pleased with this journal and will be working with it daily until I fill it up. At that point, I plan to get another one. It’s well-suited for both personal and professional writing.
