Q: Can this be applied on asphalt shingles? Will it harm the shingle?

Yes. I have not notice any harm to my asphalt shingles but I can't speak for your shingles. Just be aware that the bird x works great. Just put a 1/4" strip along the area needing protection. In other areas I just put a little dab here and there. Be advised that it will leach when it rains and if it falls on something, that something will feel very sticky and it wont come off very easily..

Q: Does this work for squirrels ?

There is no expiration date printed on the box or any of the containers. Since it is a gel, there is a possibility that it could harden with age, but could probably be softened in warm water as one softens honey.
