Bleeding Edge BJJ
For those of you that don't know this book is written by BJJ instructor Eddie Bravo, Eddie is famous for been the first American to beat a Gracie in competition and pioneering a new form of BJJ guard called the rubber guard. This book focuses on what makes Eddie's system (10th planet jiu jitsu) unique so common BJJ techniques are not covered.INTRODUCTIONThis explains the MMA focus of 10th planet and how this resulted in the system's move away from the standard BJJ.RUBBER GUARD: THE MAIN PATH41 pages showing the steps of the Rubber guard leading to the ultimate control(invisible collar) .There are sections such on topics such as stopping people posturing up, stacking, trying to slam you, and retreating.RUBBER GUARD: ENTERING THE RUBBER GUARD DEAD ZONES50 pages about the rubber guard dead zone ( when the opponent is trapped by the rubber guard and cannot do anything)its up to you how to finish things.TROUBLESHOOTING THE RUBBER GUARD49 pages about what to do when things go wrong with the normal rubber guard setupTHE BUTTERFLY GUARD34 pages of butterfly guard techniquesTHE QUARTER GUARD23 pages of quarter guard techniquesLOCKDOWN HALF86 pages longX CLINCH7 pages longPRISON GUARD18 pages of a clinching full guard that does not require flexibility (unlike the rubber guard). The homie control position (full guard with underhooked headlock done with Gable grip, bottom person is turned on their side and off to the side so they are not directly under top person)SPIDER GUARD11 pages of techniques for the standard jiu jitsu arm bar positionESCAPES15 pages of escapes from side control and 1 mount escapeCONCLUSION============My criticisms are the standard ones 1) certain techniques (eg rubber guard) require extreme limb flexibility 2) use of non standard terms over normal jiu jitsu terms can be a bit confusing for people not used to this 3) I think maybe these unorthodox moves would work best as a supplement to normal no-gi BJJ, not a replacement. At over 300 pages and 2000 colour photos this book will take a long time to read and much longer to understand, this book is a must for people interested in what makes the 10th planet system unique.

Very interesting and well written book full of advanced techniques ...
Very interesting and well written book full of advanced techniques and concepts. It also includes supplemental material on stretching in order to work up to the amount of flexibility required to perform many of the items the book covers
