I got this just after getting into shooting and it is the most awesomely fun thing to do. I've not blown up my rifle, so that's a good sign. All RCBS dies work great (as to be expected), and it can take any other reloading dies of the same thread size. I haven't personally tried to, as all of my reloading die sets are RCBS, but I've seen other people use them to great effect. The press itself is very sturdy, and *can* be attached to a standard table using c-clamps (definitely not included). I think the appropriate way is to get a hefty bench and bolt it down. I don't have access to a workshop, so it's just on the kitchen table, padded and clamped. Works fine. Just make sure to lubricate the press-rod before storage, or it will rust. The various accessories were well-made, such as the handheld primer tool, the powder measure and the powder dispenser. I'd recommend getting an extra loading block, as the one it comes with only holds 50 rounds (well, it CAN hold 100, but it's a bit precarious). The loading manual is very useful for anyone, regardless of whether they reload or not. It gives histories of various calibers, and shows different load types and the projectiles and powders needed. The powder measure takes a little getting used to, but once you figure out the balance, it's quite useful. The dispenser is also tricky at first. Small changes, test and retest. I'd also recommend careful cleaning before changing powders, as well, since I noticed some powder sticking in the receptacle of the dispenser block. Well worth it, and will jumpstart your love for reloading!

This is a good, well made product. I've been cranking out 9mm, 30-06, .303 and 455 Webley for about a month now and so far no problems. It has every thing you need to get started however buying a few extra items from the start will make life easier. First, a tumbler cleaner. You can clean each individual case, but that gets real old, real fast. Second, you'll need calipers. I reload .303 and the actions on those old Enfields have a lot of play in them. The brass stretches. Third, a powder measure stand. The one it comes with is for mounting the powder dispenser over the edge of your bench. I prefer mine at the back of the bench, raised up. Fourth, a second tray. It helps to move from one to the other as you go through each stage and you are less likely to lose track. Last, but not least, a case trimmer. Pros: Tough and well made. Press, powder thrower and scale are all top notch. Cons: Mounting bolts don't come with it so you will need to make a trip to Home Depot and get some bolts to mount it. Hand primer tool sticks when seating large primers. Could just be I got a dud. Manual only has two loads per case type. I bought a Hornady manual which has a larger variety of loads for each calibre and I use that. Doesn't come with a case trimmer.

Excellent kit! The press is very heavy duty. You should be able to reload all the large calibers with this guy. The powder hopper is great and it includes a very nice primer catcher. You will need a thick, durable mounting surface for this press. The powder scale works great too, the reloading manual has loads of helpful information, and the hand priming tool is fast and easy to use. I would not recommend using the hand priming tool with brass that has military crimped primer pockets, EVEN IF you properly prep. the brass. The priming rod isn't perfectly centered and this can sometimes lead to the primer getting pushed in at an angle, allowing for the primer cup to sometimes catch a crimp stamp and get stuck half installed.

This is my second set. I sold my first one when I moved. You just can't beat the value in this kit. Add a case trimmer, powder trickler and a powder measure stand and a brass tumbler to round out the set. I never use the press mounted primer arms. They're a bit silly. The hand primer works well once you get used to the quirks (never hold it so that the priming rod falls out.) I now use a LE wilson case trimmer and various case gauges with mine. I started with a cheap LEE trimmer, but the wilson is my favorite since it grips the shell and not the ejection lip. Final note: RCBS support is fantastic. On my first chucker, I had several mis-primed cases and they sent me new inserts for the hand primer. I also recently found my depriming rod bent in my RCBS decapping die and they sent a new one, no questions asked. I've heard of similar service from LEE, but I know first hand that RCBS takes care of you.

I have been using this to reload 308 Winchester. Works great. So why not 5 stars? The powder measure doesn't handle stick-type powders (Varget) well. I have to aim about 0.3 grain low and trickle-to-value. I was getting frustrated with powder splashing out of the 505 scale tray no matter how I dumped it. I solved that issue by hand-holding the balance tray up to the plastic dispense nozzle and gently lowering it after each dispense. I suspect this power dispenser would be quite repeatable for non-stick style powders. i did add the optional 'bent disk' to the cylinder and I think it helps. The powder trickler doesn't flow well unless it is shimmed (I assembled it right, still works better if tilted a little more). The brass set screws on RCBS die sets are way too soft. Even knowing they are soft, I stripped one. Look for a 10-32 x 1" or longer brass thumbscrew to replace them (or use a soft pellet at the end of a regular steel screw). Their pad-roller cartridge lube works okay (follow the instructions closely!) but I prefer a wax for less mess and no chance of internal casing residue causing a problem. This is a single-stage press. Yeah, that is obvious, but still it means your productivity is slow if you shoot a lot. I think it is great for precision. I verify every single powder throw and trickle-to-final weight but I am making match-grade rifle ammunition. When I get to reloading for pistols I may want to move to a multi-stage press. The RCBS hand-primer works really well. The construction may seem funky at first (how the press pin is changed for small to large primers) but it is easy enough to understand eventually. I like the gated primer tray and everything fits together tightly. I like feeling how the primer seats into each pocket (rather than using the big press). The 505 scale works better than you might expect. I bought a calibration set of weights and, if I am careful, the scale matches it within 0.1 grain. Always make sure the scale is level. Move the arm around until it is swinging in the middle of its pivot point. be gentle moving the scale weight setting around. I have no regrets, having started with this kit and reading a few books such as the ABC's of Reloading and the Lyman reloading manual.
