Works exactly as it should!
I use this adapter with my bao-fang radio and have no trouble at all. It attaches just like the real battery and the other end plugs into the cigarette lighter slot. The coil cord is long enough to make it convenient to use while driving or as a passenger. Seems to be sturdy enough to last awhile, so I have no complaints at all.

Degrades reception on VHF
Used it with a good clean power supply and with the stock antenna. Reception on VHF was strongly affected. For example, both NOAA weather stations that I can normally receive very well went totally silent.Seems to work OK for UHF reception, though.

Pretty much a necessity for using your transceiver in your vehicle
Item: PQIQP store’s Auto-adapter powered Battery Eliminator for UV-5R transceiversPrice: $ 18.99 after vendor 5% discount on 01 14 24As a licensed radio operator for over 40 years, I’ve own many sets of handheld tranceivers. Having reviewed the UV-5R types on Amazon, I have eight of this model-type. And the auto-adapter powered pass-through battery offered by PQIQP replaces the rechargeable battery that typically would power this unit. It’s one way to use a ‘power supply’ in place of a battery. Years ago, my handhelds had ‘power supplies’ that plugged into the bottom of the radio. You didn’t have to remove the rechargeable battery. If you have or currently use a transceiver like this in your vehicle, you know that it’s best to have an ‘always available at full voltage-amperage’ on-demand power source. I say that in light of you wanting to use your radio on its high-transmit power setting whenever possible and even if you're using a power-amp on your final. That demands the most amount of current. So obviously, having a constant, reliable power source is best. Years back when I’ve purchased handhelds I always purchased an auto power supply. It’s an accessory I’d highly recommend.

Battery eliminator is what I wanted for my truck
Unfortunately, I did not carefully read the description, so my fault not the merchant. I have a Baofeng UV-5R and a UV-5R Pro so this battery eliminator is only for the UV-K5 UV-k5(8) UV-5R Plus models. Not sure what I was thinking Plus or Pro. Again, not for Baofeng UV-5R and a UV-5R Pro and I will be sure I pay better attention to the description. This is a great concept as I got my second Baofeng so I did not have to keep moving it from the truck to charge. I keep one in my office and one in the truck full-time. Wish I could offer more, look like a decent adaptor but unable to offer more. Fast shipping

Fully Functional, Somewhat Poor Materials
Even with an inexpensive radio like the UV-K5(or 8), you shouldn't operate the radio and charge the battery at the same time. So, if you want to keep constant power, for example, using the radio as a base unit, or a mobile unit in the car, you need to get exactly this device, a battery eliminator. It simply replaces the battery to power the radio with DC current directly. I tested this one with a switching power supply. It worked nicely. Radio fired up and I was able to hit local repeaters. No worries.I do find the materials that were used in construction to be more than a bit sub-par. However, everything worked. The fit to the radio was (the K8 I tested) was perfect. I didn't hear any additional his or noise while using the radio (it's a Quansheng, hard to tell anyway). So overall, this worked and worked well. I just don't have high hopes of a long life due to the cruddy rubber & plastic.

Works perfectly !
The battery eliminator for the UV-K5 works perfectly. Take the battery off snap in the eliminator and plug into a cigarette lighter receptacle and your up and running. No more dead battery as long as you have the 12vdc source. I use it at home to monitor a close by repeater as my power supply has a cig lighter connection. Works perfect and I can use my base radio on other frequencies while monitoring my local repeater.

Really handy device!
This is a must if you have a handheld with you in your vehicle a lot. Just pop the battery off, and snap this on! This allows you to keep your battery full in the case of an emergency, but still utilize your handheld. Gotta love the little things things like this in life!
