A VERY rough guide to Tori's music
As far as pop piano transcriptions go, this is okay, with certain pieces such as "Cornflake Girl" and "Past The Mission" being mostly correct. However, as pointed out before, this book tries to combine the vocal part with the original piano part, and the vocal part takes precedence. This results in a very weak piano score.I think if you wanted to buy these books as a rough guide to Tori's piano music, possibly with a view to working out the rest by ear, then this book is fine. However, if (like me) you're a relatively serious piano player who wants to learn her music in a simple way, without any time-consuming aural work on your part, then this book is pants. To give credit where credit is due, some pieces aren't transcribed too badly. "God" and "Cornflake Girl" are pretty good. Although, there IS some minimal effort involved in working out which sections should be repeated instead of playing the written transcribed vocal part. Essentially, they are a cut above most pop transcriptions of this sort. But the majority of the music is INCREDIBLY over-simplified, even to the untrained ear of an ameteur musician such as myself. This is particularly noticeable on tracks such as "China" (where a whole section is omitted) and "Crucify", the latter in which they omitt the original piano part completly in favour of the vocal part.To summarize - if you were expecting a good transcription of Tori's beautiful piano parts for some relatively serious piano playing, then you're sorely mistaken. But if you're willing to spend £10+ on a rough, basic guide to the songs with the aim to working out the rest yourself - well, it'll do the job.

Not bad for a popular music book...
As rock/pop piano transcripts go, this is one of the better books I have bought..A few of the songs have almost totally faithful piano parts, especially noticable in Pretty Good Year, God, Past the Mission, Raspgerry Swirl while some have editorial notes, such as "Tori plays this figure throughout" in Caught a Lite Sneeze. At least the arranger has acknowledged their changes.Unfortunately it suffers from the normal fault of a popular piano/vocal book.. This is that they always try and make the score a combination of:- piano accompaniment and vocal part- piano solo- transcript of all partsAs a result, you are often left with portions of accompaniment suddenly cutting, in order for the right hand to play the vocal tune. Cornflake Girl is particularly bad at this. At times, as in Spark, the tune is very isolated from the accompaniment, so you can just ignore it and play the rest of the piano part. In other songs, such as Cornflake Girl, you can just repeat phrases from earlier in the song, which were introduction with no melody, as they work as accompaniment.Often the more virtuoso piano moments are cut out.. eg. that great big in Spark, where the piano part goes all high and jumpy.. that's totally cut, replaced simply by the tune played in triads. Boring. Wierd that they cut that bit, as the similarly odd bit in Past the Mission is included.Overall, it's worth getting, a good collection of songs, generally OK piano parts. Also, there are guitar chords so you can improvise around the chord, based on the original recordings.Hope this is of some help :D
