Late 1980's mini or street deck.
I've been skating since decks like this when they were the norm (many, many years!) but I never retained a 1988 or so board. So I ordered this a couple of months ago, on a whim. When it arrived I was very impressed, The plys are solid though out, no joins or bad knots at all, and no cruddy wood in the middle laminates, the shape is spot on for a deck of this era, and the details in the pressing is very good, the concave goes all the way from the front truck to the back, some decks back then went flat towards the back, the tail has a very slight concave to it, and is a nice height, the nose is also slightly concave. There is also a rocker between the trucks, just enough, not crazy like the skull skates tub-tech boards, and the wheelbase is a full 16", so it will still feel big compared to regular popsicle decks that usually have 14".So just the DIY graphics to think about, maybe an H-street mini, how about Santa cruz Jason Jessie sun god? I've settled on a classic Alva minnow/scratch board from 1987, I've just sanded wheel wells either side of the front truck for that one, that didn't take long.BTW, I'm six foot tall, and I always found 80's boards huge and unwieldy, even back in the day, this is a good compromise, so don't just think this is for kids. How to make an old man very happy!
