Lefty loves playing this game - he has struggled in the past to roll dice and tended to drool on the game board.

The media could not be loaded.  Cat-a-gories is a fun, quick game to help kids learn about categories and spelling. It's for 2 to 4 players. Each player wears a cat paw on their finger. Decide ahead of time how many rounds to play. Flip over a card, which contains a category like "restaurants". Then roll the 6 dice. Each die has a letter on it. Players can shout out a word that matches both the category and the letter on the dice. For example, a "restaurant" card would allow you to claim a "S" die if you said "Subway" or "Salad Bar". Once all the dice are claimed, the person with the most dice for that round wins the card. At the end of all the rounds, the winner is the person holding the most card.The game is well designed with lots of cards to play through. The paws are fun to wear, but may be not fit younger kids' finger. In that case, they could just hold the paw. The dice are sturdy foam, so they're soft enough for safe game play while also being a good size for visibility. The game is packaged in a very cute box and would be a lovely gift.

My kids love playing this game. It’s really cute especially for kids that love cars since each person puts a cat law in their finger. The category cards are fun and appropriate . The instructions are easy to follow. Instead of everyone shouting at same time, we take turns which has helped make it a more enjoyable game with less competition (with young kids).

I played this with my sister, both of us adults. Neither of us were being very competitive and I think that that helped it to be a ton of fun, and to entail a lot of laughter.To play, you pick a category card and then roll the dice. You then name things within that category, as quickly as you can think of them, that start with the letters shown on the dice. 3 of the dice have cat paws on a side which are 'wilds' and can be any letter. After naming something, you swipe the die toward yourself with the cat paw. If you and another player name something for the same letter at the same time, then you both try to swipe the letter at the same time. Whoever as the most letters, or in the case of a tie whoever grabbed the last letter, gets to keep the category card for that round.I can see how it could be boring if you are a very serious person or playing too competitively, but if you lighten up and just play for fun it is a blast. We were laughing a ton. When we would first roll the dice we sometimes had a lot of words we could think of and sometimes we got to a point where we couldn't think of serious answers and we would just make up funny things, or knock the remaining die or dice with the cat paws to switch them to another letter. It was a blast and I definitely plan on playing this game more.I can see how it'd be harder with young kids who don't have the experience base of older youth or adults; you would have to just let them answer some and not try to take all of the dice. I will probably play this with my eldest when she gets to be 6 or so (she's too young right now) and use it for a learning game.My only complaint is that one of the cards had a typo. It said 'restaraunts' instead of 'restaurants'. I didn't notice any other typos, but also didn't thoroughly check the deck.

We certainly HOPE translation was the issue, otherwise either our entire family or the folks who made this game do not understand English too well ... and it could go either way. A couple of play-throughs and it ended up in the closet, most likely never to be touched again. If you have kiddos who truly love vocabulary, then this might be a good game for you, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

We actually got this game to see about making two of our kids feel more comfortable with writing mostly. One is a strong reader but isn't confident in his writing prowess, and the other is learning to read and write and making good progress. Overall, my daughter took to this game the most and enjoys playing it especially with her mom. (The two of them don't get too much time together so the choice is obvious.) I am happy to report that the game is fun but my daughter mostly just wants to play with the paws around me, often tapping them against me in playful fashion.

This game is great to pay with family and friends (if you like cats)!This will force you to be creative and talk to the other players about different word associations.The rules are super easy and it only took about 3 minutes to learn them.I think the paws could be improved by adding different colors (currently only 2 orange, 2 black).I've played several rounds of this game and it was fun each time. There are a lot of cards so you won't repeat very often.Play this with your cat around for the novelty.

This game is hilarious. I’ve played with just me and my dog and now we are planning a team game my dog and me vs my kids and their dog. The tricks range from really simple to intermediate so it’s fun and there’s always success for the dog. Amazing game
