I love this book well documented, historically correct, lots of research went in to this book.

Excellent book filled with a ton of information to help you gain an expert level of knowledge. The major downside is the B&W photos that can make it difficult to see the level of details you need to for identifying parts on your pistols. There are slight differences with some of the parts used across the different 1911 manufactured and having color would have helped with comparing the pictures to actual pistols for verification.

This book really delves into the beginnings of the 1911 Very good and complements / Backs up Clawson's notes very well a must have if you are to pursue the pre 1920 era of the 1911 pistol

Research purposes. Negative: Great deal of material taken from previous work of Charles Clawson. I would have expected some new material.

Pretty cover, but no color photos inside, and many of the photos are too dark to be of any use in researching many of the guns. I suspect that the cover was a marketing ploy to get unsuspecting people like me to buy the book. Pretty cover, pretty deceptive.
