Very easy to use with excellent results!
I've been detailing my own cars by hand application for 20 years. Never used a polisher before because I always heard that applying products by hand is the best method. This was a tried and true method for me, but the car colors I've had before were white, silver, and burgundy. Pretty easy and manageable colors. Now I've finally purchased my first black car thinking that it couldn't be as hard as people say it is. Boy was I wrong! I should have looked up car care on the internet first. As one person had put it, "Caring for a black car isn't a chore, it's a second job!" Doh! Wish I read about that BEFORE I bought the black car. After looking at the results of my first detail job on that car, there were swirls galore and weird fingerprint impressions that I couldn't buff out by hand. In fact I only made it worse as I tried to correct it. I was determined to learn how to detail a black paint finish correctly and not pay someone else to do it. After talking to some people who do professional detailing work, they said the best and easiest way to get rid of the swirls is to use a Dual Action Buffer like the Porter Cable. My first thought was "Yikes! That thing looks like it can strip the paint off the car!" Now you are probably wondering why I mentioned the Porter Cable when I'm writing a review for Meguiar's G110v2? Meguiar's is a brand I've used for years and their products are ones that I've trusted because of their easy application and awesome results. Not to say that other brands aren't good, it's just that everyone eventually becomes partial to using certain products that suits their style. The Porter Cable is a great tool, but after finding the G110v2 on the internet, I decided to take a chance on this one purely because of the Meguiar's name. Plus the video reviews on the internet were positive. After claying the car, applying the polish (which made the car look awesome), followed by polymer sealant to protect it, the black paint looks absolutely stunning. You can tell it's stunning because pedestrians do a double-take when they see my car driving by. Not trying to brag here, they really do look! When the car's finish was ugly, nobody was looking. Now it seems to attract too much attention. I just wanted a nice clean car, I wasn't expecting a showroom stopper. It is so easy to achieve that stunning and flawless look with this machine that I regret all those years of detailing by hand. Simply put, I am never going back to my old ways of detailing. It's incredibly difficult to get the same results by hand that can be done quicker and easier with a buffing machine. To summarize, here what you want to know: 1) Very easy to use, even if you have no prior experience with polishing buffers. You cannot screw up with this buffer. 2) Results are beyond amazing. 3) It does help to watch some how-to videos on the internet and pay close attention to their "technique". Search for "how to remove swirls" or "how to use a porter cable 7274" or simply "G110v2 review". The technique or method of using a polishing buffer is more important than the buffer itself. 4) If you choose to go with the Porter Cable, you will get the same results but keep in mind that the Porter Cable does feel "heavier" in your hands than the Meguiar's. But that is a personal preference and you should try to find a display model or a friend who has one so you can decide for yourself. The Meguiar's feels more comfortable to me, maybe due to the shape and weight distribution? 5) The G110v2 feels solid and well made. The motor is very powerful and comes with a long power cord. 6) I would buy this product again and would highly recommend it to other people.

Best polisher ever
My 99 oldsmoblie need a bit of work. It was covered in scratches and swirl marks. To make it worse it is dark green so defects show up easily. I started using Meguiars Ultimate Compound applied by hand with poor results. Only my paint color was restored. I did some research to find a solution to my scratches and swirls. I found that the Meguars Dual Action Polisher worked best with Meguiars products to remove swirls and light scratches. Then I ordered this product along with more Meguiars Ultimate Compound, SwirlsX, Ultimate Polish, Tan Buffing Pad, Yellow Soft Buff Pad, and Black Finishing Pad. The results of these products and 8 hours of work was great. This machine is great and only heated up after 2 hours of work but still ran great. All swirls where removed only heavy scraches remained. My order came with a manual and a nice carring bag that also keeps dust from getting in the polisher. The only complaint I have is that no instructions are given for assembly so I had to guess and hope I got everything assemblied correctly. This machine is great if you want to create a show car finish or just apply a coat of wax quikly and easily. I highly recomend this machine.

Great Buffer- Bad Quality Control
Discovered this while ordering some of Meguires products. Friend has an older model and loves it. Read all the reviews and ordered it. It came in a timely manner, assembled it, turned it on and NOTHING-NADA. Same experience as GLM in VA. Called Meguires to see if there was a fuse I couldn't find. Said this was a known problem and to send it back to them for a replacement, at my own expense. They would get another one to me within 5 to 10 days after receiving the defective machine. When I raised the question of shipping, they said if I didn't want to pay the shipping I should return it to Amazon, get my money back, and order it from them at a price over $200. I immediately put it back in the box and followed Amazon's simple return instructions. I had a new (working) machine the next day with UPS also picking up the defective one. What service. Like GLM in VA I also was sent the same backing plate and the pads I ordered were 6". Haven't run it enough to see what kinds of problems I'll run into there. I do intend to write Mequires about this experience. Bottom line. I have had the BEST EXPERIENCE with Amazon that I've ever had with a merchant. On the other hand I am VERY disappointed in Mequires quality control and attitude about correcting the problem. Why should Amazon absorb the problems created by the manufacturer of a product? Amazons handling of this dissipated my anger very quickly. Almost didn't care that it happened. ADDENDUM Used the machine and found it performed as promised. However the backing plate wore a groove in the new pads and the velcro on the pads was weak. I wrote to Mequires and received a very positive response. As with GLM in VA, the customer service rep verified my order and sent me two new pads that were designed for my backing plate. Please note that the backing plate that comes with the machine is W68DA. This is designed for the Soft Buff 2.0 pads. This backing plate is not recommended with the original soft buff pads that are listed under the "other products that people bought", and is why I experienced problems. Bottom line, I have now had a great experience with both venders and am "very satisfied".

WOW! Best of the class for auto/boat/plane Polishing/detailing!
This is Meguiar's new and updated random orbit dual action polisher... and it is one very sweet machine! With a host of new features, it is clearly in a class of its own, and tailored specifically for its intended purpose unlike other brands that try to be jacks of all trades. The first thing you notice is the ergonomic top handle, unlike the side handhold on most other random orbit sanders (ROS). This handle allows for precision in a comfortable manner while making the weight of the unit easy to manage. Motor speeds have been expanded with the ROS now capable of between 1800-6800 RPM at 4.2amps. The 1800 speed is the lowest available in any of its competitors, and is important for some detail work. Meguiar also looked carefully at the way that people use polishers and the unit has two features that really protect the machine and your paint: * The machine has a staged startup, meaning that it doesn't slam to its full set speed the instant you turn it on. This saves a great deal of wear and tear on the motor * The machine won't bog down under pressure. It senses additional pressure and speeds up the motor back to the set speed. Other units bog down easily under pressure.(Internal feedback circuit increases torque when downward pressure is applied) Meguiar's put the ROS through its paces by testing it at one of the largest car auction centers in the USA. They have not had a single failure and use of the ROS has been all day virtually every day with over 400 hours of run time on each of their units. Meguiar's has really sweetened the deal on this unit by INCLUDING a W68DA Soft Buff 2.0 DA Backing Plate, (hook and loop Velcro base plate) that runs about $30 if purchased separately... and a durable logo'd canvas bag for storage and transport. It's a VERY nice bag! Really! Yes, Really!! Spare motor brushes are in the box, along with all the tools you would need to change the plate or brushes. Awesome attention to detail. Using the polisher is a dream. It is smooth and almost vibration-free. Much less vibration than the Porter Cable models. The motor is not overly loud, and the new rubber power cord is manageable with a 45 degree exit from the body. SCARED OF DAMAGING YOUR PAINT?? Don't be. Dual Action, Random Orbit systems are designed to eliminate the problems of Rotary Polishers that should only be used by professionals with training. ROS systems will not allow you to to damage to your paint and are perfect for not only professional detailers, but for we home car appearance fanatics too! Don't be frightened of using this system, you WON'T hurt your vehicle! Primary competition for this unit is the Porter Cable 7424XP Random Orbit Sander (PC) which is also used by thousands of detailers. The primary differences between the two (and both are the same price on Amazon) are as follows: - The G110v2 has less vibration than the PC - Fit and finish is much nicer on the G110v2. It just looks a lot nicer than the typical PC grey. The 110v2 also feels better in your hands due to ergonomic handle design. - G110v2 throttles up when sensing a bog down... much more than the PC - The speed dial is much smoother on the 110v2 than the PC, and the 110v2 has a wider speed range with the lowest speed at 1800 RPM - The 110v2 INCLUDES the hook and loop (Velcro) backing plate, storage bag, tools, and motor brushes in the package. PC comes naked. - The ONE advantage of the PC over the 110v2 is a three year warranty vs. one year on the 110v2. Here's what you need in addition to the 110v2 itself to get going... * Polish/Wax application Pads (Soft Buff 2.0 recommended by Meguiar's (no surprise...) for use with this backing plate), or any of the Lake Country pads with hook and loop backing. * Compound, paint cleaner, polish and wax of your choosing. ( I prefer all of Meguiar's products over any others... and all available at great prices on Amazon!) * Towels. (Microfiber is absolutely the best) * A vehicle in need of defect removal or a good polish/wax job. This unit receives my highest recommendation as an extremely well designed and engineered tool. It is "pretty" as well as functional, and Meguiar's has seen fit to include extremely useful additions like the backing plate and bag that others simply don't. Amazon offers this unit for about $30.00 less than buying direct as well, and with PRIME, I had it in two days free shipping. Awesome. 5+ out of 5 stars for this super unit! Get it... you won't be sorry!

Easy to use. Loud.
I am very satisfied with G110v2. It is comfortable to hold and easy to use. It does vibrate, but not uncomfortably. It is quite loud. I was surprised that on this Dual Action polisher the pad would slow or even stop rotating under load, but then I learned that the pad rotation on this machine is not forced and that machines with forced pad rotation are considerably more expensive. Still, the machine worked well. This DA Polisher has a speed control and I needed different speeds for cutting/polishing and for glaze application, so it worked nicely. I used the G110v2 with Meguiar's W9006 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Finishing Pad and Meguiar's W7006 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Cutting Pad . The pads stayed securely on the included hooks and loops backing plate. They did not fly off even when I turned the polisher on with no load to spin water out of the pad I just washed. I applied three different products to my car: Meguiar's M10532 Ultra Cut Compound , Meguiar's M20532 Ultra Finishing Polish , and Meguiar's M-0716 Mirror Glaze Professional Show Car Glaze. 16 oz. liquid with this polisher and I am sure it saved me a lot of time and muscle pain compared to attempting to do the same by hand.

Weak Electrical Cord
Bought this unit to work on my wife's car. I have experience with pnuematic orbital sanders, but have never used an electric DA on car for polishing and waxing. I had viewed videos on Meguiars site and made sure to always throw the cord over my shoulder so as not to mark the surface of the car. I had finished the compounding and started on the polishing when the buffer decided to work in only a few positions. I have electronic and electrical background, so knew it was most likely the cord. I could not wait for a warranty item, so took it apart and sure enough the wire was broken inside the insulation. I clipped off about 4 inches of wire and reassembled the unit as was able to finish. Not sure if I was just the one that got the bad unit, or maybe the wire is weak in those units? I also purchased the Meguiars W8006 and W9006 foam pads for it. I had terrible luck with those 2 pads also. They did not seem to have enough hook and loop on them and would not stay centered on the backing plate. Very very frustrating since I bought this to save me time and let the machine do the work. I had to recenter the pad everytime I turned the thing off to add more product. I will say the machine works great as far as the soft start, and the speed selector. I did find that the power on switch was not in the best position for me. When I was doing sides of the car, it seemed to just not be where I wanted it to be. Your mileage may vary. Added on 7/21/2011 I had written the company about the electrical cord weakness and the velcro not holding. Their customer service contacted me saying they would replace the unit and pads at no cost to me. I had already repaired the cord myself since I was in the middle of a job, but the pads were really irratating to use, so I boxed up the 3 pads I bought AND the backing plate and send them off to Meguiars. 10 days later I had brand new backing plate and pads with no questions ask. Pretty darn good customer service! The new backing plate seems to be a tad bit smaller than the one I sent them, but the velcro is much stronger. It does say for 6.5 or 7 inch pads, so it should be fine. Meguiars sent me 7 inch pads to replace my 6.5 inch pads that I sent them. The 6.5 inch pad is flat on the back. The 7 inch pad they sent me is dished inward. The inward dish will prevent the slippage problem I had with the original pad and backing plate. I can tell you that the replacement pads and backing plate are much better than what I started with. I feel the replacements will serve my purpose very well and I will continue to use Meguiars products. I almost can't wait to try the new ones out.

Really great polisher
I am new to the world of color corrected paint, scratch and swirl removal and things of that nature. (Brand New) I have never picked up a polisher before my wife bought me this one as a present. I also recieved some of Meguiar's rubbing compound, polish, and wax. I was a little disapointed that it didn't come with pads but my wife made a great purchase anyway. I purchased some foam polish pads and buffing pads the next day. As nervous as I was, I decided to try it on my daily driver first. I honestly didn't know what to expect so I watched a few of Meguiar's Youtube videos to learn how to do it then jumped right in. This machine really worked well for me. At first I thought it was just looking nice and that it was going to be a ton of labor to use, but then I realized this is the sort of job that is best tackled in small bits. (even smaller than what the videos mention starting out) As I continued, I started to see the smaller scratches disapear and then there were some larger ones that were showing up more clearly as the paint looked better and better. Soon, I would notice a scratch and I would focus my attention on it and in 30-45 seconds it would disappear completely. I was still using the buffing compound and pad. Then when I switched to the polishing compound, Viola!, I was really getting the glassy look on my paint. The more I did it, the more I wanted to do. Admittedly, I spent 3 hours on my hood alone that night. (It is 7 year old neglected paint. It gets washed once per Month if it's lucky.) The coming weekend, After that success, I decided to start on my "other car". Watching different videos, I was still nervous because many of them made mention that there are so many different types of paint, that I didn't know what to expect with it being a different car with a different substrait. (made out of fiberglass not steel) Same slow start for me and POP, Amazing Results! I am sold on this machine and Meguiar's products! This machine does run a little loud but I suspect that is the nature of the machine no matter which one you would buy. At first also, I was skeptical of the variable speed control dial suspecting it would be better if I had a variable speed trigger but I am positive the dial is better now. I don't have to focus my thoughts on the speed while working with it. Only set it for the application I am using it for and go with it. Also, this machine starts up gradually instead of torking like a drill. I think that also protects the paint. The only other thing to mention is that I need an extension cord to use this. It does have a long cord, 8 feet maybe, but it's not enough for my garage outlets. Bottom line, I think this is a great tool to add to your tool cabinet if you want professional looking paint on your daily driver or your fiberglas sportscar. (Don't forget the pads though)

The Best finishing polisher available!!!
I have owned every conceivable buffer and polisher available from variable speed buffers, the duel head (cyclo polisher) you name it,I've tried it. I wanted something to eliminate the small fine swirls caused from the car wash and other various reasons... that could be used knowing that it would not damage the paint by being to aggressive, but yet get the job done in a timely manor. Well, the Meguiar's G110v2 dual action polisher was the key. I had looked at it a year ago.. and thought that it was just a little pricey for a oscillating buffer.. But people.. you need to know.. that this is an oscillating buffer AND a rotation buffer at the same time, and using the correct foam pad it was capable of completely removing any and all swirls, scuff marks and towel scratches, (that no other buffer was able to do)! I mean it DID the job with ease... smoothly and without fear of damaging the paint! I normally don't do reviews, but when I find something that really works.. I just have to voice my opinion. So there... Now you know the WHOLE story! This is an EXCELLENT product that just about anyone can use with confidence to make their paint look showroom new again! Mark Weekes St Augustine, Florida
