This thing is cool and fits anywhere, Pocket Find!
I just got my hands on the Klarus E5 Rechargeable Work Light, and wow, this thing is incredible! I can't get over how bright it is—470 lumens in such a slim and compact design is seriously impressive. This isn't just any flashlight; it's got 8 different modes, so it's ready for whatever you throw at it. The slim, flat design makes it perfect to carry around in my pocket without feeling bulky, and the built-in clip and magnet are total game-changers. I can attach it anywhere and keep my hands free, which is perfect for when I'm working on projects. And the best part? It’s rechargeable! No more scrambling for batteries at the worst possible times. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. If you need a versatile, powerful work light, the Klarus E5 is where it’s at. It’s bright, it’s practical, and it’s quickly becoming my go-to for everything from DIY projects to just having a reliable light source on hand. Highly recommend!

Hardly noticeable in my pocket. Well made. Bright and “floody” beam.
A handy little pocket flashlight. Very thin. The pocket clip is very sturdy and stays clipped on well. The beam on the flashlight is a little brighter than my cell phone. The beam is also very “floody”, so it’s great for indoor illumination, but for far away illumination, forget about it. Nice usb-c recharging port. As with nearly all modern flashlights, you are expected to manage 10 different functions with one button. So plan to mess around with it for a while to become familiar with it.

Good for EDC but not Perfect
I have several small EDC flashlights including a Streamlight Microstream, a Lumintop AA Tool 2.0, and my favorite is the Wurkkos TS10. Each have pros and cons, which is why I keep experimenting. This Klarus e5 is different in that it has a slim and flat profile rather than a AA or AAA battery tube design and it has a perpendicular or 90-degree light rather than inline. It does have an inline light as well, though it's a bit of an afterthought. The main light is the round one while the inline light at the top end is of rather limited use. Had it been lensed to offer a spotlight design with decent throw, it would have a purpose, but it doesn't - it's just another floodlight like the main lamp, but with less lumens and only offering a high and low setting. So, it really is quite pointless unless. The main round floodlight is pretty decent, offering just under 300 lumens on high. To get 470 lumens, you have to turn on turbo mode, which is a separate set of clicks (it doesn't cycle to that setting from low, medium, or high). All my tube flashlights will outperform the Klarus in terms of throw as they are spotlight designs, so when I need more power I'll grab the TS10. PROS: The main feature of this unit is the slim design. Simply put, I can slip it in a pocket and not know it's there... Except for the inch or so the top sticks up out the top. Deep carry is what I prefer, so I removed the stock pocket clip (3 small screws, not rivets thankfully) and repurposed an extra Microstream cip I had laying around by bending it to shape (see pics). That made this Klarus much less conspicuous and fashion friendly. The aluminum construction and anodizing is nice and overall it feels light, but not cheap. The magnetic tail is super handy and a feature lacking on most of my tube flashlights. CONS: Deep carry issues aside, the button placement is less than ideal due to being directly opposite of the charge port, which feels nearly identical. So you may have to look at the orientation of the light or press the rubber charge port cover before flipping it around to find the actual button. When pulled from a pocket, you'll remember the orientation and this is less of an issue, but it's still a poorly-thought-through design choice. The inline lamp needed to be a spotlight to be useful as I said before. So that is redundancy rather than a real feature. If it had a 470 lumen spotlight and a deep carry pocket clip, this would be an easy 5-star flashlight. But as is, it's a good 4-star unit and it's different enough than my others that it offers some benefit. However, the TS10 can be had for the same price (off Wurkkos' website) and it is a much more feature-packed light with twice as many lumens and way more features and settings. CONCLUSION: That said, the e5 is currently my main EDC simply due to the slim, flat design. The TS10 and other AA-sized tube flashlights are thick enough to feel in my pocket, which is fine when I'm working, but annoying for casual wear. So, the Klarus e5 is a nice addition to the family.

Small, good looking, rechargeable, plenty of light, great On/Off logic
I have had this light for only a few days and already I think this is a well designed, sturdy little flashlight. Small, attractive, enough power for most things I need a flashlight for with the ability to stick it (magnetic base) or clip it to something. I have a few of the inexpensive multi-mode flashlights with the switch in the end cap. What I dislike is having to cycle thru modes to turn it On or Off because it didn't come on in the mode I want. I particularly dislike turning on the old style and have it come on in Strobe mode! Not only that, but on many of these, the end cap switch gets sketchy after a while resulting in intermittent operation because the lamp current goes thru it. On this flashlight the switch tells the controller what to do and the logic is set up to be as simple as click On, click Off or pick and chose other modes if that's what you want. Single, short click ON. Single, short click OFF to use the last light and mode used is exactly what I want.

Well thought out design and quality for the cost.
My everyday carry at work now. Small, light, and compact enough to slip into my pocket, yet bright and functional. The magnetic base is a necessity for me and this one doesn’t disappoint. It is easy to handle and easy to use when I’m fumbling around with one hand. Charge lasts longer than I thought and the build quality seems good.

It's just what the doc ordered!
This is tiny enough to stick inside a mini-itx PC case. bright enough to work up in the crawspace. the magnet is firm! I appreciate the pocket clip more than I thought I would at first. And the option to light on the end or on the side makes this one a candidate for repeat purchase. One ein every car - on in every tool kit. Charges up fast - although I havn't run it out of power yet.

Annoying features, decent price.
So, complaining about modes would be silly, because I knew what I was buying, and even though I don't need those extra modes (flashing white, and flashing red and blue) I didn't figure I would need to bother with them anyhow. Unfortunately imho the timer that differentiates switching modes from turning the light off is far too long. You have to wait between 3 and 4 long seconds before it exits the mode switching and goes to the light off mode. I don't know about everyone else, but I quite often just need a flashlight for like a quick second to see something and then I want to switch it back off. Unfortunately if you do this it just switches modes, then you have to cycle all through the modes to get it to turn off... Annoying. I find myself getting impatient knowing that I have to wait long enough to turn it off rather than have it switch modes. The brightness is decent, but I would trade nearly all of the flood aspect for better throw. I'm not using this as a biking or hiking tool, I just want to aim it at something in the dark to see it, usually a name plate, or down a hole or something like that. It is so wide angle that it will barely illuminate part way across a room with enough light to help. I was trying to see some wires several feet across an area above some drop ceiling tiles and it wasn't enough. Maybe they could leave the side lamp as wide angle and have the front facing beam narrower. The switch is bad because it's just opposite the rubber covered charge port. I find myself squeezing the flashlight trying to get both in my grip because without looking at it or just trying it, you can't tell by feel if you're hitting the on button or the charge port cover. This is super irritating. The light faces up when you have it pocket clipped. This is irritating because almost all other lights are the other way around, and it takes forever to get used to. The only upside to it is it's easier to tell when you've put the flashlight in your pocket still on (because of the issue mentioned above this happens quite a bit). I honestly like aaa flashlights better because when you're in the middle of using it, and it dies, you can swap the battery and get right back to the task at hand rather than plugging it in and waiting, but I knew what I was ordering in that regard so no points omitted for that. The shape is nice, it works well for holding with your mouth which is something I do quite a bit. It also disappears in your pocket nicely. The magnet is nice sometimes, and it has a nice white light. I wouldn't buy it again, but I don't feel to bad about it because it's pretty well priced. If they things I pointed out wouldn't matter you you go ahead and grab one. I'll be switching back to my Streamlight Microstream.
