I bought this because I am a painter, and as such I am always accidentally rinsing my paint brushes out in my coffee/tea, etc, lol. I needed something with a lid. This is dishwasher and microwave safe, holds 16 ounces of fluid (that's a grande at Starbucks fyi), is cute as a button, and keeps me from accidentally swirling paint in the cup or from accidentally drinking my rinse water....which happens far too often.

REVIEW UPDATE:***We have been forced to update this originally glowing review because, after nothing but hand washing, the lovely lemon pattern on this glass is quite literally sliding off. (see photos)We are shocked and disappointed by this failing specifically because we had been treating the set with kid gloves.This was a bedside drinking vessel that only ever held water and never saw the inside of a dishwasher.While this can still be used, the immediate washing off of the pattern is a huge red flag in terms of overall quality of manufacture.Sadly, based on what we have experienced, we are changing our opinion from recommend to avoid.***A glass of water on my night stand has long been a must have, but finding the right container is an issue. Plastic glasses tip over easily, my thermos requires me to unscrew the top. So far, this ceramic cylinder seems to be a great solution for me. The lid keeps dust and possible creatures out of the container, A quick sip from the straw and I am good to go. The weight of the container means I am less likely to knock it over, it is attractive, and it makes me happy, what more could I ask for.
