It's all here soul, blues, rock, electro funk, with the 'talkbox' vocal style made popular by Herbie Hancock's 'I Thought It Was You' and the music, a cross between Prince and George Clnton's P-funk, this is just a great album to have in your collection. It also has the extended version of 'Computer Love' with the excellent intro that always got a rewind at least 3 or 4 times before being played in full at parties and on pirate radio back in the day.

Zapp remembered
Reason why we always say 'the original is always the greatest ' is because when we first hear it, it immediately links our surroundings emotional or otherwise and indelibly stamps that in your brain.when I played this, it all came flooding back - it's as good as it gets

'Zapp's Best Album By Far'
After making some of the funkiest singles of the early 80's, with Zapp 1V the group finally made a good album. Opener 'It Dosen't Really Matter' is to my mind the best record they ever made. Great lyrics, really P funky, it has plenty of Roger's vocoder vocals and yet somehow manages to attain a more commercial edge. 'Computer Love' was (a little surprisingly in my opinion) however the monster hit from this album. Featuring Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band on backing vocals the song is a relaxing and summery trickling ballad. 'Itchin' For Your Twitchin' was also a minor U.S R&B hit and is more like the powerful P Funk that the group were renowned for while 'Radio People' was a failed (undeservedly!) U.K single and really should have been a massive hit with it's catchy 'On Your Radio' chant. Side two of the original vinyl version of the album is less impressive but still consitently good. Opener 'I Only Have Eyes For You' is another of the cover versions that Roger (in particular) was famous for and is pleasant. 'Rock N' Roll' is a band written rock guitar led track, ''Cas Ta- Spellome' a lighthearted fun track and 'Make Me Feel Good' a jazzy/bluesy instrumental of the sort the band had done before. The Album finishes off with 'JA Ready To Rock' which is typical Zapp P Funk but less essential than their best stuff. If you have ever liked the Roger Troutman/Zapp sound you will definitely like this.

Love me some Zapp
Great, Great, Great, Sounds superb, fantastic mastering, the separation in the instrumentation is incredible, comes with 6 bonus tracks and great liner notes, this is a must have for all Roger Troutman and Zapp fans.

... the bonus tracks are taken from vinyl - they're good "needledrops" but are definitely NOT from the mastertapes
Be aware that the bonus tracks are taken from vinyl - they're good "needledrops" but are definitely NOT from the mastertapes. A bit of honesty wouldn't have gone amiss here.
