Authors tried too hard to rhyme
More like limericks. Authors tried too hard to match sounds and it makes the stories terrible IMHO. Giraffe in a Bath and Other Stories is the best in the series. We had to read it a hundred times so we purchased more. It was a mistake -the others are not up to par. Fat Cat does have very nice drawings and searching for the duck in each picture is fun.

GREAT FIND!!!
This is a fantastic collection of stories for children learning to read phonetically and very hard to find in this format. The library collecting of these is VERY pricey and I was thrilled to find them in this compact, and much less expensive format. It comes with the stories on CD, and has many fold-out pages. This is a high quality book and well worth the $30 price I paid for it. I am VERY picky when it comes to reading material for children emerging/early readers because there is so much out there that totally inappropriate and useless. These stories ARE PHONETIC and gradually introduce phonograms with lots of repetition of phonograms in one story for practice. Great purchase.

Uneven Page Edges Make Book Look Bad
I bought this as a gift for my niece who just started to read. It's ok, but I don't like how the pages are jagged & messy due to the folded flaps on some of the pages. It gives a messy, unfinished appearance & feel to the book. I feel like this item was really overpriced also! Just generally disappointed in the quality & questioning whether or not to still give it as a gift.

fun, stimulating book
Purchased for my grandson's second birthday, this clever book remains one of his favorites out of hundreds of books that he owns, and he's close to turning three. The whimsical illustrations and rhyming story line draw the reader into the overall plot as anticipation lures us to turn each page, that is after lifting the flaps to reveal fun surprises. I initially purchased this book for my grandbaby; however, I had to order numerous others to share with former students' children. This book is also among the family of books in my own home and awaits being selected by little hands for larger ones to hold and treasure.

Great for preK through 1st grade.
My kids loved the stories; my 4yo learned to read well with this book. A few words chosen for some of the stories were odd (there were also a few commonly used British words). Overall a nice (level 1-2) reader.

Learn to read
Great tool for getting little ones ready for reading. Bright pictures and funny stories, with repetitive word sounds that build confidence, yet there are constantly new words added to each story to challenge them as they progress. Really well thought out presentation and content.

Good complete set. Worth investment.
Liked this complete set. Has fold out pages that contain surprises. The companion CD makes it easy for my 5 year old to sit and enjoy by herself. Buying the set all in one book saved a lot of money vs. buying each reader individually. Having the stories bound together is great for storage and travel. The book is about an inch thick. It's bound together well, but if your kids are rough and tear up books this may not be a good a option for you.

Wonderful book for beginning readers
Beautiful book. Stories are fun, and pictures are vibrant. Some pages have flaps for extra fun. Simple words and repetition for beginning readers.

Excellent Educational value. Would highly recommend. Buy it!!
Just received this book and felt I had to write about it as it was such good value for £7. It has 194 pages and 12 phonics stories which are brilliant for preschool children and early years. Bought it for grandson who will use it for many years and in time will be able to read it to his little brother!👴

Good book, highly recommend
I bought this for my 3GS old son as he has started to show an interest in letters/words etc. Book is really nice with nice shirt stories and my Son has instantly taken to this book and asks for it every night, his particular favourite is Fox on a box and Frog on a log. The book also comes with a cd which we have enjoyed listening to in the car, overall I think this product is good value for money and worth a buy

Better value that individual books!
A nice book which is good value for money. Secondhand and not 'Good' because there was damage inside, but my son likes it.
