Accessories make this 5 stars.
This is a great stove. I gave it 5 stars, because I want people to know it works and it's the accessories that make it great. Although...I have other alcohol stoves that work sooo much better. I gave this five stars because of the accessories. The stove it's self, works. Works as advertised. But it isn't the best. What makes this stand out, is it's design and accessories. First and foremost, the smother accessory. This is a big deal if you're out in the wilderness or at the beach. Alcohol stoves are very hard to put out. And you don't want to waste your alcohol. That was a major selling point for me. Second, it's got a cap to hold the alcohol for travel. Another major win. To be able to smother the flame, save your remaining alcohol and continue is a major plus. Last is the provided stand. It's versatile, and helps. I feel it adds too much "bulk" because I like to pack light and small. The stand is very light. But it's slightly bulky. Under normal circumstances I'd give this a 3 star review. The quality of the stove's performance isn't great. What makes me give it 5 stars is the total package. It works, I can smother the flame, it can travel, and it has a pot holder.

Great stove for the solo traveler
Great stove! Simple and very effective for what I needed. As a solo camper, I highly recommend this product. Lightweight and compact, it’ll take up all of a fistful-sized space (this excludes fuel source which was in its own container). Output and speed: I filled the canister with fuel (denatured alcohol) about 1/4” from the top and the heat was compared to low on a gas stove. After a couple of minutes, it ramped up and gave me a nice steady medium-high heat. Never timed anything but I never had to wait long for my pan to heat or water to boil. I didn’t use camping cookware, just a small pan and pot from home and still got great results. I’d say, with the foods I cooked, I had a good meal in 10-15 minutes. Never cooked till I ran out of fuel but there were times I snuffed the fire to add more fuel (going from making coffee, to cooking a meal). Safety: Though I used a pot and pan from home, I will be shopping for more appropriate cookware. My pan was way too heavy for the stove and I had to manipulate/bend the stove a little to properly hold the pan. Where I went camping had a burn ban, so I used the firepit to use the stove in case of an accident (which my heavy pan almost caused a couple of times). The biggest safety concern is not properly setting your cookware atop or the fuel canister getting knocked over causing a disaster. Exercise caution when finding a place to cook. Definitely recommend this stove to all the solo campers, hikers, backpackers, and emergency preppers. Also recommend getting some type of shield to put around while cooking to keep the flame in place from wind.

Great value as long as you're willing to make some minor modifications
Ok first the bad: as received this is a very sub par alcohol stove. It works, the construction is sturdy, but the holes are drilled incorrectly and the stand is not bent correctly. If you look at the photos I posted with this review you'll see that the vents are drilled (punched?) in two sizes and alternate. The small holes are something like 0.8mm and the larger holes are somewhere around 1.3mm(ish). I have no idea why they did this. For the stove to function properly the holes need to be the same size. I used a pin vise and some small drill bits to enlarge the small holes to 1.2mm and then used a 1.5mm bit to enlarge all of the holes. The difference is about five minutes to boil for 16oz of water in a controlled environment test. After the modification this little $16 stove will boil water almost exactly as fast as my small Trangia. Before the mod it took almost 5 minutes longer. The other issue is the stand. As it comes the stand will not support the burner in the position in the picture on my review properly. This picture is taken after I've bent those tabs in to fully support the burner. Also the little handle on the simmer ring is cut too short on one side on this unit. No big deal, I can just replace it with a leg from a large binder clip, but still. The final downside is that this stand is NOT a windscreen. You will NEED a windscreen if you're using an alcohol stove outdoors, and will almost certainly want one indoors as well. The manufacturer claims this is a windscreen. It is not. In any way. Ok on to the good! For $16 this thing competes with my $25 small Trangia burner (after 5 minutes with a pin vise and some drill bits). Which also didn't come with any kind of stand. The construction is super sturdy, it's much sturdier than I expected for $16. I picked this up to put in a travel kit so I won't be selling off my Trangia, but if I didn't own a Trangia I wouldn't feel compelled to buy one because the performance difference is negligible (after the mods to this one). In short, if you don't mind doing a very minor bit of modding this is a great way to save $10 and pick up a decent stand in the bargain. Well worth the money for what you get for $16 and a little elbow grease.

Cooked breakfast in only six minutes!
I had been looking at this spirit burner for months and had it in my cart ready to purchase then back out again and on the fence about buying it not because of its price or reviews but for the simple reason it's really really easy to manufacture a penny-stove and I always intend to build one but never have. I finally ordered this stove last week on Monday. I am a Prime member and was supposed to have gotten it by Thursday, but, well things happen. For whatever reason, it ended up being late and was supposed to ship Friday by 9 PM. Next thing I know it's arriving Monday by 9 PM instead and I did get notification from Amazon that my purchase was arriving late and they were very apologetic. My Redcamp spirit burner did arrive yesterday and was here when I got home from work. I took it out this morning and did a three-part YouTube unboxing and review for my channel. I was very impressed with the quality. It is much heavier duty than I expected. I thought the brass would be thinner but this is quite thick and seems like it will be very durable over the long run. I used denatured alcohol as my choice of stove fule and with the optimal wind conditions today and even without a wind screed I had breakfast in six minutes from start to end. I did not do a timed boil test as I find them a complete waste of time. Boil time will vary depending on a host of reasons and factors that have nothing to do with the quality of the product and are all due to environmental variables and/or fuel choice. Of course, they boil water. If you are in some kind of hurry to eat you should have items you can just open and eat without cooking, to begin with. I will continue to use this as my main method for cooking while I am away at camp as I am generally very busy when I'm out and prefer quick-cook or instant type foods. You can cook on this burner as long as you need and can cook foods that take much longer to cook, however, I try and keep my cooking times on a spirit burner to fifteen minutes or less when I can to conserve fuel. I did do a leak test after my second burn to see if any alcohol leaked out of the cap with the seal in it and mine does not leak. I even turned the burner over on its side as if it had been knocked over and left it that way for several hours and there was no sign at all that even a drop of alcohol was lost. If you are having problems with leakage you are probably cross-threading your lid and the seal is not making good contact. Secondly, always make sure you are storing your burner with the extra fule upright so that you do not have to worry about leaks in the first place. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! I suggest using Everclear as your stove fuel if you would like it to be multi-purpose as it can also be used to make medicine, for recreational drinking, as cooking fuel, and as an antiseptic. In the photo I provided, and I know you cannot tell by the image, the stove is lit and burning. Part of the inerrant danger in alcohol stoves is frequently people striking their stove with a lighter or match and thining it did not ignite then going back in for a second attempt and getting severely burned. When the stove is first lit you cannot see the flame unless it's dark so be very cautious and place your hand high up over the top of the burner to check for heat BEFORE you stick your fingers or hands close for a second attempt at lighting! Very happy with my purchase and I look forward to a TON of use because this was purchased to be my main cook system for out at my basecamp. Judging by the results of my first use it will serve me very well for a long time. Thank you Redcamp for supplying a very good and quality product.

Decent for the price.
Good kit. It's fairly robust and sturdy. It's easy enough to use but I would have liked better instructions. Even the little bag that it fits in is ok quality. For the price it's very good. My use is for power outages, heating water for coffee etc which it does well enough.

Works just like its famous cousin
This alcohol stove is pretty standard in size and quality to similar stoves on the market. Price wise, it's on the lower end of the scale. I like that it came with a combination pot stand/wind breaker. It also came with a very nice drawstring carry bag that stops most of the rattling, protects the stove, and keeps everything together. All of the parts seem to be sturdy and everything fits together very well. The first time I used it, it lit easily, and bloomed quickly. I use the yellow bottle Heet as fuel. It works just fine with this stove, and is available in lots of stores. The pot stand works well with larger pots and skillets, but if you want to use a small cup, or a Stanley cook set, you can turn the pot stand upside down over the stove, and then you have a nice area to set smaller cookware. The pot stand is only mediocre as a wind break, and alcohol stoves really need a good wind break, so I use a folding aluminum one, but a home made foil one would also work well. Overall I'm as happy with this stove as I am with my more expensive name brand stoves. I keep stoves in various emergency kits, and camp gear kits, so I get to make comparisons between the different brands. So far, this stove performs as well as any of the high price stoves. If I need another one, or want to buy one as a gift, I would definitely buy this one again, and I highly recommend it to anyone needing a good camping, or emergency kit stove.

Works great
This stove is a great value. It’s compact, well built, and works fine. Testing it in my kitchen using HEET (99% methyl alcohol), it boiled a pint of water in about 12 minutes after lighting (11 minutes using a homemade windshield that concentrates the heat on the pot). I was able to make a delicious bacon and egg breakfast in 19 minutes, about the same time it would take on y electric kitchen range. I’ve had no leakage problems. The O-ring between the stove and lid seals really well, and I get a nice blue flame that blooms in about 90 seconds. BTW, if f you are getting a yellow flame in an alcohol stove, something is wrong.

Solid Alcohol Stove For The Price
I recently used this stove on a snowy camping trip in the Utah mountains. I brought the stove primarily to test its effectiveness for boiling water since I had other larger stoves with me for cooking. I set the stove directly on some snow and filled it with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. I lit the stove and put my Toaks titanium 750ml pot on top with 16oz of water. The pot was just barely wide enough to fit on the included stand - in the future I would consider using a pot with a larger diameter than the 95mm of the Toaks 750ml pot (for reference, a regular Nalgene bottle can nest inside the 750ml pot). It took about 20 minutes for the stove to bring 16oz of water to a boil using the 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and in winter conditions. That's not a great time for boiling water, but when you consider the benefits of the alcohol stove I'm happy with the trade off. What are the benefits? Well, I like that with this stove everything is self contained. Could I build a soda pop can alcohol stove? Absolutely, but then I'm still hauling around a container for the fuel and I don't have a stand. With this REDCAMP stove, I have a self-contained, sealed container for my fuel within the stove and a decent stand for placing a pot on top of - and the stove also comes with a nice bag in which to place everything. I like these stoves because they're simple and easily stored in a bug-out bag or my emergency kit in my car. I feel much safer storing this stove in my car during the hot summer months than I would with a small gas-powered backpacking stove. I also like this alcohol stove because it's whisper quiet compared to the jet-engine sound of a gas stove like a jet boil. Totally chill to boil your water for coffee in the morning - just light up the stove and start tearing down your tent and camp while it warms up. I'm going to test out the time it take to boil water again with some denatured alcohol and see if that is any quicker. I suspect it will be close to the same, but you never know. Also, the included flame-adjuster works great for smothering the flame out when you're done cooking. I recommend this stove if you want a reliable alternative to gas powered backpacking stoves and like the convenience of having everything self-contained in a nice little package. Check the regulations before you head out though as some camping areas only allow stoves with a positive on/off switch i.e. a gas stove.

Great little stove
Fantastic, sturdy and well made. It's my first alcohol stove. Burned methyl hydrate and it lasted about 30 mins on a fill up. I usually use a canister style stove in the back country however I will try this in my rotation!

It appears to be well constructed.
You might think this stove and stand look pretty cool, but honestly, that’s not the reason I got it; it was the logo that grabbed my attention. As a stove collector, I was on the hunt for an extra burner for another stove I have without breaking the bank. When it comes to practicality, though, this design has its drawbacks—if it’s too windy, it still boils water, but it takes a little longer. But you probably already figured that out and, like me, said it needs a wind shield. All in all, I’m satisfied with it; it does what it promises, as you can see in my picture. I boiled water and prepared lunch with just one can of fuel.

An excellent burner.
Much lighter than similar products and burns hot. Time will tell if it is a durable. The stove stand needs a wind shield if you are thinking of using it outdoors and, like virtually all such stands, it is too wide to accommodate mugs or narrow based pots! .
