Sturdy, fairly easy to assemble, instructions could be better
I think I understand what a lot of other customers were having problems with as far as the alignment of some of the additional rails that were provided with this gate.First off, make sure you do not cut off the tag with the tie that’s holding the pieces together. That is very important!Next thing is that you use one nut that is closest to the cup. That’s going to go against the wall. Insert the bolt into your extension at the side of the gate. Then screw on another nut loosely leave at least a quarter inch on each side of the nut so that the bolt moves loosely at first. Screw on the gray knob next also a bit loosely leaving about a quarter inch space between it and a nut. Those nuts are to keep the bolt locked in place once you have it fairly fitted against your walls. Once you have them fairly fitted, you’re going to have to fiddle with the nuts to get the proper alignment of the cup against the wall. Once you screw the grey knob AWAY from the nuts that will tighten the gate against the walls. Do not tighten the grey knobs excessively tight otherwise you won’t be able to properly open the gate. I discovered that because I tightened the heck out of them and I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting the gate open.It took me a little bit of playing with the nuts to get them in the right position, but once I got them in the right position and I was able to lock them down, all I had to do was tighten the gray knobs and they held fast. I did have to remove one nut from the right side placement because I needed that extra quarter inch in order to fit the width properly. It has not altered the strength against the wall in any way. What does help if you are installing this by yourself is to place the gate in the floor holder; that will help you to keep it upright.I do suggest, however, that if you are a renter and are concerned about the pressure of the cups damaging your walls, put something between the cup and the wall. I used some foam paper that I got at a dollar store. I just cut it a little bit bigger than the diameter of the cups, doubled it and placed it between the cup and the wall to receive some of the pressure and it also helped to hold it tight. So I don’t have to worry about damaging the wall in my small apartment. The gate I received does not have round tubular bars. Mine are flat with rounded edges. It seems to be very sturdy and my cat will definitely not be able to get through this. However,I honestly do not know how it would hold up against a heavy dog push pushing on it.I personally like it, and I really don’t think my cat will be able to jump this gate even from the position of the futon where I have it situated. Because I live in a very small apartment and there is not much space for me to move the futon, he has been jumping from the futon over the old child gate that I had, which is the reason why I bought this taller gate. I stand about 5‘4” and the gate reaches me to my shoulder.I absolutely love that it came with extensions so if I should move anytime soon, it will fit whatever doorway I need to put it up against. So far there is nothing to dislike about this gate.

This Amazing Gate Has Been A Lifesaver!
When I needed to begin Peritoneal Dialysis, my Doctors told me that our cats would suddenly become off limits (cat hair and Litter would increase the risk of infection and serious illness for me). Our kitties were used to being allowed in every room in our home. Luckily, this gate was easy to install, flexible enough to fit in an arched hallway threshold without tools, and tall enough that my high-jumping cat never even attempts to jump over the top. It's easy to open with one hand (I can open the swinging door in our out, which is convenient). It's also quiet, so if I need to open the gate while my husband is asleep, it doesn't wake him. This gate has saved my health. It has created a sanitary haven so I can get well. It was affordable and of great quality. I truly love this gate!

Perfect for kitties!
This gate solved our problem! We adopted a kitty from a shelter, only to find out that she had ringworm and we needed to keep her separated from our current cat for at least 4 weeks. This gate allowed us to keep her in the basement without needing to install a permanent door. Putting it together was a challenge because the instructions are very poor, but once we figured it out, it's been wonderful. We love that it has a door with a latch. The gate has stayed very sturdy through multiple entrances and exits each day. The new kitty is a jumper, and she has not even attempted to go over or through it Once she's healthy, the gate will be the perfect way for the cats to be slowly introduced to each other while still staying separate .

Tall Cat Gate Is Great, Instructions Not So Much
Great tall gate for dogs and cats! Easy to install, but it requires 2 people. Better installation instructions would be nice - most was easy to do without instruction, but some pieces had no explanation of what they were and their purpose (some of the pieces turned out to be unnecessary for pressure mounting, but there was no direction to tell me this). I can guess what the pieces are for, but, whether I am correct or not, the explanation should have been part of the instructions. So, the gate itself deserves 5 stars, but the instructions lower my rating to 4.

Nice tall gate for cats
I searched for quite awhile trying to find the correct gate for my kittens. Most gates are too short. I've been using this about two months now and it's been perfect for my situation. I have a kitten that is really adventurous and I am worried that she will escape from the house one day as I have two roommates that go in and out of the front door a lot. They may accidentally leave the front door cracked for a moment or come back inside while my kitten is waiting for them and she may run out. She's already gotten in the garage a couple of times. Since putting up the gate I was finally comfortable letting the cats free roam the house. It's a little inconvenient for the humans by design, but it keeps the kittens from being able to sneak out when we aren't paying attention. The gate was easy to install, has been very sturdy, and is easy to open and close.

Awesome cat gate. Fantastic tool to introduce new animals to your family.
This cat gate is awesome. I installed this in a standard doorway. It allowed us to close the solid door. After several days we were able to leave the solid door open. Our cats got to know each other and now our new cat is integrated into our family. The gate is simple to install. You just have to take it out of the box and add the additional pieces so it fits your doorway. Don't take the cable tie off on the gate until you have it installed and tightened. It tightens with some thumb screw wheels. Easy as can be. It is well made, sturdy, not too heavy, and the gate latches easily. This is worth every dollar we paid for it.
