This thing is awesome, cannot be beat for the price. Not only does it offer ample volume from a smaller, portable speaker, the sound quality is excellent! A lot more bass than expected in addition to sound that is evenly distributed. I pick it up and bring it all over my house to order groceries, listen to music, etc. now that Alexa is portable. Before the dot was stationary as it needed to be plugged in, very nice to have that convenience anywhere now. Would definitely recommend, really lets you do a lot of different things and they all sound a lot better with this speaker. Five star product here.

Returned both of them because when the volume on the Echo Dot is turned all the way up and the volume on this speaker is turned up you can hear a continual periodic "breathing" noise whenever the Echo Dot's microphone self-activates--it's amplifying the Echo Dot's noise. But aside from that the speaker is quite good--good sound quality and volume. The seller accepted the return graciously.

I am presently listening to the (just received), AVX Spot Speaker for the Echo Dot 2nd gen. First impression is that the speaker is simply not loud enough. I assumed that with the speaker’s large size and massive 3lb weight, it was going to sound much louder. I tested it outside of the house and with the ambient sounds of birds chirping, dogs barking and leaves rustling - the music was scarcely audible at about 20 feet.Now it’s not all bad! The sound quality of the music at just below max volume is really great. I listened to smooth jazz, classic rock, and the always uplifting music of The Smiths. The highs, mids and lows all sound great. So if you are using the speaker in an office environment perfect - buy it. If you live in a small apartment or reside in a small dorm room perfect - buy it.But, if you are like me and planned to take the speaker out of the house while tinkering with the car, or hanging out with a few rowdy friends – you will find the music volume not at all adequate.

I have a laptop that have problems with the sound, but with this i can enjoy movies and music for hours. Great sound and easy to use with computer or Alexa, can change from AVX Audio to Alexa by pressing just a button. And now can move around the house with Alexa.

Easy to transport from room to room and the sound is good.

I like the 360° sound and the fact that’s it’s cordless and can bring it anywhere, however, the charging plug doesn’t work well at all, (The one to the unit, the one to Alexa is fine) it will take several attempts to get it just so, so it can charge, if you’re in a hurry and forget, you can’t use it the next time you want to.

Great Speaker, needs to be louder. Will have to get another one and group them in order to get more volume.

Was a little difficult to get set up but once we did, it sounds great. Just make sure that the blue light is not flashing in order for your dot to work with it. The M button toggles between blutooth and the dot...flashing is blutooth. I'm not sure why that wasn't more clear to us. My son and I we're each setting one up separately and had the same problem with this.
