A simply brilliant take on once great classic.
Meet the new Intellimouse pro, just like the old intellimouse only better in every single measurable way. From the moment you rip open the amazon packaging every step is a delight. Upon opening you are greated with a sturdy, well printed and 0 nonsense pain free packaging that both secures and cradles the mouse, The first thing you will notice is the weight, not too heavy, not too light. it sits perfectly in your palms, no claw grips here to be found. lavished in soft touch plastic, ruberized sides and rubber side switches the mouse is a delight to use. Both main buttons sit perfectly under your fingers and provide a pleasing yet not obnoxious *click* to every press. not too firm, not too soft and no mush to be found. Every keypress is simply a well orchestrated delight that provides you not only with confidence but clear positive feedback and breaking point of the click. what about the wheel? Lightly notched, firm and response with the same switch quality found all over the device. The cable is braided and non too firm and all the contacts on the usb side seem of stellar quality. and finally, the finish. a silver front fading to a pure white, a silver windows logo adorns the rear where you will also find the delightfully ungarish rgb lighting, not only does it avoid being obnoxious it can be set to be software dependant on colour. what else of the software? adjustable lift off, adjustable polling rate, adjustable rgb and general sensitivity, you don't even need to go fishing around on the web to find them. upon a connection to the pc windows will promptly recognize the mouse and ask if you would like to proceed with the install. simples. So that's it then. an old classic. only.... Brilliant.

On the whole its great, but one small thing...
I used to have an Intellimouse way back in the day and loved it. For the past good few years I've had a Logitech G500 which I really liked but it recently became faulty. I remembered how much I used to like the Intellimouse, and while I do game I use my PC a lot for a variety of different things so wasn't too bothered about buying a "gaming mouse" so to speak. So the classic Intelli certainly has a nice, clean and sleek look to it. I really like the white led light that illuminates from the bottom. The buttons are well placed and it feels great in the hand, and just about the right weight as well. The cable is plastic which doesn't bother me but I know some people prefer a fabric cable. It works straight out of the box which is great, but you can install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center (download) if you wish to configure all the buttons for different commands and also the DPI rate up to 3200 (default 1600). My only one little gripe is I have a cloth mouse mat which has white text in the middle of it. The sensor doesn't seem to like going over this text and the cursor on the screen stutters in its movement. If I use the mouse on a purely black part of the mousemat it works great, so I've a feeling the mouse sensor maybe isn't the best. I've had to go an order a new plain mousemat because of it (it works fine also just on the desk but I like having a mousemat). All in all though, I really like this mouse and would recommend it - just watch out for the issue I've mentioned!

Finally, a re-release that's just right!
I have been on the search for my perfect mouse for some time now. Notice I do say "my" perfect mouse, as I'm sure you'll understand, different people will have different requirements which fit the description of 'perfect'. I am not a gamer and use my computer for 3D CAD modelling and graphic design. My previous 'perfect' mouse was the Logitech MX518. Absolutely superb, however, this model is now discontinued and I'm not willing to pay the extortionate prices that you can find it selling for on a particular online auction site. Having owned a number of mice in the past 3-4 years, I would often find something that would detract from the experience. Wired or wireless made no issue to me, factors such as DPI and, ergonomics, quality of buttons, types of buttons, etc. were top of my list. I even found myself resorting to using technicoloured fluorescent glowing mice in order to experience the above factors, despite having always thought of adding unnecessary lights as a gimmicky. This product came along and I was anticipating it's release from when it was initially announced by Microsoft. I am pleased to say that it has indeed, lived up to my expectations. This is an excellent mouse! Very rarely do companies re-release a product and get it just right. I personally believe Microsoft has achieved this with the re-release of this mouse. The upgraded DPI, enhanced bluetrack technology and subtle white light. The quality of the buttons have increased to aid it's durability. I never actually owned the original Intellimouse, I did, however, use one for a work computer for a lengthy duration of time. Comparing this mouse to its original model, I am happy. For those of you that want a non-gimmicky, solid mouse that does the job of pointing device, then look no further.

I'd forgotten what a really good mouse felt like........
For the last few years I've used whatever mouse I found in my "man box" (I suppose somebody will complain about that like they did Mansize Kleenex!). Getting back to a good quality mouse is like getting a really comfortable pair of shoes; the mouse fits my hand perfectly although I suppose it might be a bit big for people with really small hands. It's really tactile with all of the "clicky bits" feeling really well made and responsive. The cursor doesn't move across the screen, it glides, with no jerkiness or poor movement. I know it's not usual for something as trivial as a mouse to cause excitement but this one does. As it's the interface between us humans and our computers it needs to be positive, smooth and responsive, just like the wheels on the car. Why did I get a wired mouse rather than a bluetooth one? Try it and you'll notice the difference. This is a cracker.

Good but not good enough for me
I bought once again the microsoft mouse to replace my beloved Sharkoon FireGlider Optical Gaming Mouse which after 7 years of heavy use it gives me a bit of trouble with the scrolling, anyway, this £17 mouse did a great job, and it is still working well, super accurate, and sturdy, I think it's the best mouse I have ever used, and I used a few, unfortunately is not available anymore. The mouse is good but for the price, it is accurate, but the main buttons are very hard to click, too hard so not ideal for editing or games I guess. I don't play games but I do a lot of editing and the main buttons click it's extremely important, and this is the main aspect I didn't like about it. Cable is good, it's flexible and light but the mouse is not really heavy, it's pretty light, it doesn't feel sturdy like the Sharkoon FireGlider Optical Gaming Mouse which also has a whole underneath so you can add more weight if you need Overall, I decided not too keep it because of the main buttons which are obviously really important to me especially for editing.

Great mouse, lasts about 4 years
I got my original intellimouse in about 2004 and used it for 16 years. In a slight irony, the original only stopped working because the cable near the mouse frayed from friction on the desk; the mouse itself was fine. I've been using this version for about four years, and it's been excellent: comfortable, and reliable, but I've had two issues: recently the scroll wheel has become very sticky for about 1/4 of its rotation, which is really irritating. Upon disassembly, I found that the scroll wheel enclosure can't be opened, so I can't see the problem. I cleaned everything as thoroughly as I could but the problem persists. Secondly, the mouse does not work well on my matte black mouse pad, though other surfaces are fine. Overall good, but after the huge lifetime of my previous version this was a little disappointing.
