Barebones controllers, but great overall.
Pros: • Lightweight • Sturdy build quality • Comfortable design • Larger thumbsticks • Soft press ABXY buttons Cons: • Stiff dpad • Home/Capture buttons close to Assign/Turbo buttons • No NFC/Wireless/Motion controls/Rumble These are really nice controllers. The buttons all feel really nice, with the exception of the dpad feeling overly stiff. It can sometimes be hard to press, although I haven't played anything that relies on the dpad to get a proper feel for it yet. The controllers are lightweight, but that works in their favour, in my opinion, as they decrease the weight of the overall Switch in handheld mode. It's not a huge difference but, compared to controllers that have rumble and those other features, it makes a huge difference. Overall, I really like these controllers. They may be missing a lot of features the Joy-con have but, for the most part, those features aren't entirely necessary for most games. The one thing I wish they had is motion controls, but I'm not too bothered by that personally. The larger, thicker, design makes the switch much easier to hold onto in handheld mode and I feel this design perfectly rides the line between full grip style controllers and the original Joy-con style. If you don't mind the barebones nature of these controllers, no battery, NFC, wireless, etc, then these are really great controllers, and I would definitely recommend picking them up if you're looking for a slightly simpler Joy-con replacement.
