Still the one to buy if you want to save a few bucks
With the price cut after the release of the RS5 the case for getting the RS4 is even stronger. It’s not quite as stable or smooth as the RS5, but easily can be with proper technique. Functionally it’s nearly as good and just as easy to use, just not quite as capable with heavier setups. Big lenses and a red, where you need more adjustability, yes, get the 5 or a pro. The added torque is noticeable here. Smaller hybrid setups, especially APSc, save the extra money and put towards something else. Aside from that and the tracking, the stability and overall performance is fairly negligible. If you happen to add the tracking module to the RS4 it’s pretty much as good for people tracking also, so food for thought.

Best one yet
I’ve been a full-time professional photographer and videographer for years, and I’ve used a lot of gimbals across different brands and generations. The DJI RS4 is hands-down the best one I’ve owned so far. Setup is fast, balancing is straightforward, and once it’s dialed in, it just works. The stabilization is rock solid, even with heavier camera setups, and the motors feel incredibly responsive without being jerky or overcorrecting. It inspires confidence when you’re shooting real jobs where you don’t get a second take. The build quality is excellent — solid, well-designed, and clearly made for professionals who use their gear daily. Controls are intuitive, battery life has been great for full shoot days, and overall it feels like DJI really refined everything that mattered from previous versions. If you shoot professionally and rely on your gear to perform every time, the RS4 is absolutely worth it. It’s become my go-to gimbal, and at this point I wouldn’t want to go back to anything else.

Professional equipment, with a big learning curve
Fantastic piece of hardware. However, this will not automatically smooth out your shots. It is borderline an athletic endeavor to shoot with this device and achieve steady video. Additionally, the camera balancing process can be a bit tedious.

Works perfectly, but not for everyone
I got this for capturing footage with my Nikon ZR Cinema camera. It works exceptionally well, and does everything you would expect it to do. So why 4 stars? Two reasons: 1) It takes far too much tinkering to assemble it from its case, balance it, connect the zoom band and motor, and calibrate both the gimbal and zoom motor. If you’re on a trip and want to do a quick capture, expect 10-15 minutes of setup and another 5 or so to tear it back down. 2) It’s heavy. Even with the tiny Nikon ZR and the new, lighter weight Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 lens S II, the RS 4 is a beast to hand hold. I ended up adding the Small Rig handle and strap to make it reasonably comfortable to use. Unless you absolutely need a gimbal to go beyond the already impressive in-body stabilization in many newer cameras, save yourself the money and storage space and just use the built-in camera stabilization. With some practice, you can learn to capture very good footage without a big, heavy and bulky gimbal.

Run and gun at Weddings
This was a great addition to our media kit. We use it mostly for run and gun at weddings. Battery life is awesome and it’s pretty easy to use.

Please read before you buy
The motors on these gimbals goes into sleep mode alot. Type in RS4 sleep mode and you'll see it's a problem with these gimbal. Sleep mode for the ones that doesn't know, basically means, the motors will no longer hold your camera , it'll be as if the gimbal is turned off. Now before you think, oh this won't happen to you, I use this gimbal maybe 5 times max and it was just to test out how it would look with my a74 with an extremely lightweight lens so all times were under 5 minutes. I wanted to use this for my youtube videos , so maybe once a week for 1-2 hrs max, but it broke before I could even do that. I contacted the dji custom service and Herr is why I say don't buy this, he told me that it is a common problem with this gimbal and once it happens you have to send it back to dji or amazon. He said it so normal as if it happens all the time. He told me to send it back and get a new one, I then asked how do I know if it's not going to happen again, he told me , I don't but he couldn't see me getting two bad ones, I declined and opted for a refund that took 10 days to process and will most likely take another 3-7 business days before I get my money back. Buy at your own risk, you've been warned.

ReSuperpotentex4= RS4

I used to need the pro version
Now i can get away with the smaller one. Which is great because it’s almost as powerful and it saves me a bunch of weight and money.
