Excellent images and build quality
Having spent a career working with thermal imagers, all very expensive, I was not expecting too much from this product. However I was really pleasantly surprised by the images and the measurement data displayed.

Fast and detailed
As an architect, a thermal imaging camera is essential for improving old buildings and investigating works without taking down a wall. I was previously using a cheap pocket one to investigate walls that need improving and finding cold drafts. This thermal imaging camera is a fantastic tool and the speed and quality are ideal for getting accurate readings. At 256x192 pixels it has sufficient detail to pin point hot and cold spots without having to get too close and the super resolution which makes the image easier to read really helps. Compared to the top branded version I was expecting this to have a cheaper feel, but the construction is solid and ergonomics are easy to hold for long periods. The pull trigger to take a picture is great and there is plenty of built in storage to not have to worry about lots of micro SD cards. It has a built in light and can do Picture in Picture or a hybrid to get both real and thermal images for files. The alarm feature would be ideal for checking areas with specific heat requirements and in my testing is very clear and easy to read. At nearly £400 this is the same price as the top branded version, however in my testing it has been built well and takes accurate and easy to read images. Of the price drops below the big brand then this could be an ideal value for money.

Cannot fault this, works very well and is pretty well made.
Arrived as described, as pictured, safe and sound. In this review I will compare this Hikmicro B10S camera to my old FLIR TG165 camera which I have been using daily for the best part of four years. This Hikmicro thermal camera works well and is very well made. As someone who uses a thermal camera daily, my old camera being a older and lower resolution FLIR TG165 which I use for finding hot joints and high resistance electrical connectors and this Hikmicro B10S is a welcome upgrade from my well used FLIR unit. Build quality wise this is camera is excellent, its quite a heavy and chunky item, very durable and feels quite good to hold, I have no complaints what so ever – it even has an internal lens cover and shutter, something my more expensive FLIR unit lacks. This has caused a lot of problems for me in the past with my older FLIR camera as the lenses constantly get dirty and dusty from being stored and carried around in my kit bag and require constant cleaning – in the three weeks I’ve been using this full time, the lens cover has proven its worth and I’ve had no such issues with the Hikmicro. Function wise, it does it all. You have picture in picture mode, an over lay of a normal camera image superimposed on a thermal image, ideal for identifying and pin pointing smaller heat sources quicker and more accurately and the thermal resolution itself is decent enough for finding hot/failed components when it comes to smaller SMD work/repair. There is 16GB of memory built in so no need for an SD card, pull the trigger and take a picture etc. Accuracy wise it’s about the same as the FLIR branded unit this has replaced. The menu system is easy enough to navigate once you get the hang of it though it’s not the most intuitive to use if I’m being honest, more buttons would have been better instead of buttons with multiple functions, a brief press does one thing, a long press does another if you know what I mean but that’s just me being pedantic as you soon get used to it. Battery life, I’ve only had to charge this once in the three weeks I’ve used it and its used daily weekdays so no complaints there. In the box you get various manuals which includes a calibration card and USB Type C charging cable. As a side note, considering the cost of this item it would have been nice if they had included a basic case or storage pouch. Highly recommended.

Great value, as so many uses other than what it's intended for
Didn't know I needed this until I actually got it and started to use it. It comes well packaged in a hefty box, with foam cut outs keeping the camera in place when in transit and being stored. The camera sits nice and comfortably in your hand when using. The LCD is clear and has a variety of different thermal image modes. Have yet to figure out which one I find most useful It comes with a internal rechargeable battery, which helps as you just plug the device in when its flat so no need to keep removing a battery pack I think my wife and kids got this as they keep telling me how hot my gaming pc gets and that it keep the office far too warm, I am convinced otherwise, but this certainly helps The results are in, and look like all our PC pump out not a huge amount of heat, but my 49" and 38" monitors, well that's another story, think I could cook eggs on the 49" one :| We are looking forward to using this on our night hikes to see if we can spot any animals in the forests as we walk, as the range on this seems to be quite superb too. Plus the kids are unto Ghost hunting so am sure we will try this out then too. Personally I'd like to see how well insulated my house and office are so look forward to trying this in the winter so we can plug and heat gaps. Great product, easy to use, well packaged, and great value, as so many uses other than what it's intended for |:)

Great for finding drafts and dampness in houses
This has been invaluable in interesting ways. Really good for old British houses where you get drafts and dampness all over the place so you can identify where it is creeping in from and do something about it. I have a constant draft under my desk that had been niggling me for ages and I was finally able to identify where it was coming from and do something about it!

Amazing performance and value, now records video!
While initially looking at slightly cheaper cameras I noticed an attractive promotion on the HIKMICRO B10S which placed it within reach. In comparing those other units near this price, I concluded the B10S may be the best value currently available in its class (-20 to 550°C IR range, 256 x 192 IR resolution @ 25Hz and 3.2" 480 x 640 LCD). This is a very solid, high quality thermal imager packed with advanced features and is a pleasure to use. I'm especially satisfied to have chosen this model which includes the visible camera - the SuperIR images themselves are excellent and quite detailed, but the visual overlay adds so much more context and confidence during use. The deciding factors for me were that this camera is built and supported by an established, reputable and specialized IR product manufacturer. They offer ongoing firmware updates, available calibration services, free detailed PC analysis/report software and an impressive product warranty. Optional accessories like a carry bag and macro lens are also available for those who need them. The shipped firmware in the camera was easily updated to the current version (V5.5.82, June 9/2025) as recommended by HIKMICRO. The update added video recording and streaming features and an extra colour palette - these bonus items aren't mentioned in the original product description! Updating firmware was very simple; download the update file directly from the HIKMICRO website and copy it via USB into the camera's root directory, then reboot the camera. A few technical insights which may be of interest to some: - Built-in IR sensor cover - Camera connects to a PC as USB flash drive when unpowered. Selectable as USB drive OR webcam (cast screen) when powered - 13.2GB available image storage accessible via USB - IR and IR/Fusion images (.jpg) are 480 x 640, same as screen resolution. File sizes average +/- 500KB - Visible camera images are 1200 x 1600 (.jpg) and can be saved separately - Video files (.mp4) are 480 x 640 @ 25fps - Sleep mode (selectable) maintains USB video stream when connected; any keypress reactivates the display - Low (-20-150°C) and High (100-550°C) thermal ranges can be auto-select, or set manually Camera menus are comprehensive yet easy to access and navigate. The front trigger button exits from any menu back to a live view. The UP and DOWN keys serve as convenient shortcuts to quickly cycle through IR/Visible image modes (UP) and colour palettes (DOWN) when in live mode. The various selectable SuperScene/Pro Scene Detection features can greatly simplify detection of common problems and are quite impressive. As example, the Condensation Detect Scene can be used to verify dehumidifier effectiveness. This intelligent detection uses ambient Temperature and Relative Humidity parameters (input by user) to internally calculate dew point. A monochrome palette is activated on the display and any target areas which are at or near the current dew point are highlighted in a vivid bright "radioactive green". A user-adjustment (RH Threshold %) controls the detection sensitivity. HIKMICRO offers their free Analyzer program (Windows) which can be used for deeper or specialized area/sensitivity analysis to investigate and process live or captured image data, and to prepare comprehensive reports. The camera does not come with a USB charger (5V @ 2A is specified for efficient charging) nor a carry pouch, but most people will have a spare 2-amp USB phone charger and old camera bag which will work just fine. In summary I am very pleased with the B10S - no regrets with this purchase! It is a quality product with high end features and strong manufacturer support at a competitive price.
